AGHHJHGGJJHGJJG-I HAVE BEEN DOING YARD WORK ALL DAY time to read Ganondorf accepting his status as a gay man through Rauru 😭 Honestly, when it comes to TotK Ganondorf I can't see him not being immensely interested in men. Even if he is taught and told that he is different from the others, seeking a relationship with a voe specifically is such a hallmark trait of the Gerudo of the wilds era that there is a non-zero chance that Ganondorf isn't affected by that. Growing up I'm sure he is told he is a voe, but as a boy surrounded by girls only he must not really absorb what that means. He just thinks himself like any other Gerudo, and so surrounded by young girls chattering about voe and relationships and marriages, I can't imagine him not being swept up in the hype, not imagining what it might be like when he's older and sets out on his quest to find his dreamy voe. I often imagine that it is when he realizes that he is *voe* that he starts to truly internalize the alienation that comes with being the only man amongst his people, where he becomes the object of desire that all the girls around him fawned over all this time instead of getting to fawn over finding a voe like everyone else. He must ask himself if he's even allowed to want a voe given the burden on his shoulders of being the only one amongst his people. ANYWAYS linking the fic here for anyone else who is interested (and if you're interested in Ganrauru in general I highly recommend reading the entire series called Questions of Kingship! As you all know I enjoy how disastrous these two are and this series does such a good job fleshing it out 😭)

I saw a picture on Twitter of Ganondorf with a mudkip and the poster was like "This picture is for a friend. Its their wife and son" and I IMMEDIATELY went BLOOBLUEBLOO? IS IT FOR THEM? IS THIS BEAUTY FOR THEM? You have now reached a status of being an actual thing in my life. Congrats.

LMAO I'm glad you saw Ganondorf (my wife) holding Mudkip (our son) and immediately thought of me because that! Is exactly my vibe! I commissioned @kifaprokumiv so I must extend my thanks to her for entertaining my thoughts and my vision 🥰🥰🥰 (And I'm glad that illustration did numbers too hahaha everyone should see Ganondorf holding a widdle Mudkip 🥰✨) (Also I'm glad you enjoy my constant beaming of Ganonthots onto your dashboards I will continue doing so because I am compelled fortunately? I’m begging stories that cut off their protagonist’s arm or leg for there to be consequences to it instead of just giving them a new one after they’ve had some trauma development.

OoT Ganondorf is so incredible like, he's a king decked out in spandex, leather and jewels with an attitude of a guy who is still in his punk-emo phase, and then he installs a larger than life organ in his stained glass room to play his own theme song. Impractical in every way yet still causing a storm of trouble for everyone. No wonder he went seeking greater things how do you contain all that in one flesh and bone body 😭😭😭

Can you imagine if they had given Ganondorf just an ounce of that humanity? How angry and lonely he must have been, to have him memorialized as leading his people into battle on the walls of his prison, where he was left to rot and decay for thousands of years alone? To wake up and see that Hyrule won at the end, that his people were now theirs to command, and all he had was himself and his self-determination? This does not have to conflict with his desire for Hyrule at all; in fact it should reinforce his belief that he should command Hyrule instead of these interlopers that swept in and created a kingdom.

There is this sort of disappointment that permeates through me every time I look at the first trailer. LoZ will always be about defending and saving Hyrule, and in that sense Ganondorf will always be the antagonist. That being said, that trailer really made it feel like that maybe they would give us just an inkling of what the lore has suggested throughout the years of Hyrule's own sins, that Ganondorf has a leg to stand on and that his hatred is borne of Hyrule's actions against him. That maybe the darker tone of this game would actually put that story front and center instead of suggesting it in layers of subtexts. No, no he is just evil because he is Like That. It's okay my dearest wife I still think you're right....muah....

They really showed us this in the first TotK trailer and really expected us to believe that Ganondorf was just going to be a one-dimensional Evil McEvil 😔

I'm in awe of how we ran historical revisionism on the civil rights movement so bad that people truly believe it was quiet self-sacrifcial non-disruptive christ-like activism that forced progress and not — like — the incredible economic pressure of boycotts and outbreaks of illegal civil disobedience
