I read that the request was open and I came running because I can't miss it. So here I am, my request: thorin oakenshield x human (female). I don't know if you've seen this trend on tik tok where you see black and white until you find the love of your life and soulmate. Well something like that, where thorin gets to see colors when he sees the human that will join them in the company. thank you very much if this request is accepted!

- It is a known fact that dwarves have a “One”. The only one they ever fall in love with. But with this, comes the curse of seeing in gray colors until meeting that said One.

- Therefor, some dwarves, see in black and white for their entire lives. When Thorin was young, he always hoped he would meet his One, but as he grew older and had to grow into the roll of prince, he quickly realized that wouldn’t be his future. He only ever saw a limited amount of people, rarely meeting new ones.

- And after Erebor got destroyed and the dwarves won the battle of Azanulbizar, he knew there would be no One for him. No one to make him see that glorious blue his father used to speak of. Never the shades of green Dis had mentioned countless times.

- But that was until he met you. When the quest for Erebor began, everyone had gathered in Bag End. You had come along to help slay the dragon, as your knowledge of rare and dangerous species had been enormous.

- The second Thorin set foot into the house of Bilbo, his eyes scanned the crowd, looking for his nephews, but instead, his eyes landed on you.

- All of the sudden, warm tints of brown and yellow colored his vision. His eyes suddenly shut, the amount of new light overwhelming his brain.

- You had no idea what was going on. You see; you were a human. You didn’t have a “One” and because of this, you had been able to see every color as a normal person.

- But Thorin wouldn’t be Thorin if he wasn’t stubborn. He ignored it, and therefor ignored you too. He tried shutting out the colors, but sometimes it got too much for him.

- Yet, he had done a fairly good job at hiding it. He was very blunt to you, but the moment danger approached, he had always been near. He never once taunted you like he taunted Bilbo, but he became concerned for your safety, causing him to forbid you to do certain things. In your ears, it sounded as if he didn’t trust you. But he did. He just didn’t want to see you hurt.

- He had been on track so well with reclaiming the mountain and getting over his feelings for you.

- Until Mirkwood. When you were trapped in the dungeons, Kili became able to see colors too. And he had been over the moon. He couldn’t shut up about it. Thorin had done well to disregard the comments.

- But then Kili dropped a comment Thorin didn’t think too well of; “Uncle, Ma was right. Green is so beautiful! I feel so bad that you and Fili aren’t able to see it too.” “I know what green looks like, Kili.”

- Silence. Dead silence. Everyone knew Thorin had never once seen color. It was almost as known as his reputation. And now he told them he knew the color green.

- You hadn’t known much about dwarves, but you remembered your mother telling you stories about how dwarves lived in a grey world.

- No one even dared ask him when he first started seeing color. They knew they wouldn’t get an answer out of him anyway.

- But, you know; curiosity and cats and all that.

- Kili has no dignity or shame whatsoever. He teased Thorin about it the entire way, asking him who it was till no end.

- Yet Kili wouldn’t find out until the battle of the five armies. You had managed to save the line of Durin, yet Azog managed to get a good hit on you. It wasn’t anything lethal, yet it left your arm bleeding out.

- Thorin had never wanted to see that much red in his life. While Azog was towering over you, you were clutching your arm, the blood seeping through your hand. Thorin took this opportunity to kill his enemy once and for all.

- But his attention wasn’t on his victory; it was on you, your face contorted in pain as your legs gave out underneath you. And he was quick to catch you before your head would meet the icy ground.

- “Amralime-“ he started, but you had cut him off. “It’s me isn’t it?” Thorin did not understand your question, and you realized it within a few seconds.

- “The colors. It’s me, isn’t it?” Now Thorin was silent. How could you have known? “Balin told me.” You commented, almost as if you were reading his mind.

- “I didn’t tell Balin anything.” He tried defending, but he knew his attempt was fruitless. “You don’t need to.” And that much was true. Balin knew Thorin better than anyone. He could see through the poor king without even blinking.

- “It is.” He confessed, holding your arm to stop the flowing of your blood. “So stay with me.”

- Gandalf had found the two of you quickly, helping you to a healer before Thorin could even protest.

- The healing process thankfully didn’t take a long time. Plus, you had been invited to stay in Erebor for as long as you wished.

- And, of course, you accepted. Not even two weeks later you were walking through the forest behind the mountain with Thorin, your hair braided up nicely, your hand intertwined with his.

- It had been almost a year, but colors still managed to surprise him. The greens around him were indeed intoxicating, just like his sister used to tell him. The sky was beautiful, but the color he enjoyed most had to be the yellow of the flowers decorating the grass.

- He always braided your hair with a yellow piece of fabric, his favorite color proudly sitting in your hair. And you would carry it for as long as you would live.

50 Durin House Rules And Other Declarations:

(everybody lives AU, cuz they deserve it)

1. Running off into the wild to pet a wild wolf is not an acceptable hobby.

2. Bringing said wolf home and giving it a name is also not an acceptable hobby.

3. Under no circumstances is Kili allowed to babysit.

4. It is necessary to lock the door at night. Princes might escape otherwise.

5. Hiding a wolf in your room is also not an acceptable hobby.

6. Weapons are not to be seen on the dinner table.

7. The breakfast table is the same table as the dinner table.

8. Feeding dwarflings ale until they pass out is no longer allowed.

9. Thorin is not allowed to be alone in the treasure room.

10. Gross medical issues are to be discussed with Oin. Not with family at the dinner table.

11. If gross medical issues are inevitable during dinner, Kili is to be removed immediately to prevent inappropriate jokes.

12. Important secrets are not to be trusted to Fili.

13. “Fuck The Elves” is not an acceptable slogan for a themed party.

14. Even if, you do in fact, mean to fuck the elves.

15. “Fuck The Elves” is also not an acceptable slogan for a t-shirt.

16. “Fuck The Elves” t-shirts are not allowed to be sold.

17. “Fuck The Elves” t-shirts are not to be worn during important meetings with the Mirkwood elves.

18. No walking around the house without any clothes.

19. For every swear word spoken, a gold coin must be tossed in the “no swearing jar”.

20. “Tree-shaggers” is considered a swear word.

21. Wild wolves are also not allowed in Dale. Even if you dressed them up and taught them how to walk on their hind legs.

22. Fili and Kili are not allowed in the throne room without supervision.

23. If Dis says no, don’t run to Thorin and ask the same question.

24. You know Thorin doesn’t do well when arguing with women, so don’t manipulate him into it.

25. Dressing in black and standing in front of the mountain yelling “Winter Is Coming”, is not a fun way to announce snow.

26. Calling Bilbo a “Robbit” is not funny.

27. Parties are no longer allowed to be held without the permission of Thorin.

28. Using the “I am the future king” card will not work against the “I am the current king” card. Not even when you threaten him with old age.

29. Imitating Thorin when he had Dragon-Sickness is considered treason and is punished with running three laps around the mountain.

30. This also counts for royal family.

31. Knocking on Kili’s door at three AM is not funny. You know it scares him.

32. Under no circumstances are Fili and Kili allowed to see the Gremlin movies.

33. Stop referring to Balin as “Santa” around Christmas time.

34. Don’t YOLO anything.

35. Gandalf is not allowed to be alone with Kili.

36. Thorin is not allowed to get his entire head tattooed like Dwalin.

37. Don’t use expensive words to Fili and Kili. They genuinely do not understand it.

38. You can only use five sarcastic comments in a conversation with Dis.

39. We did this for your own safety.

40. Do not play hide and seek in the treasure room.

41. Dwalin is not your personal bodyguard, so don’t force him to come with you every time you visit Dale.

42. Bringing a mountain lion home as an alternative for the wild wolf is definitely NOT considered an acceptable hobby.

43. Fili is not allowed to cook anything. Ever.

44. Threatening to cut your brother’s hair off when you’re losing a game is not considered a “practical joke”.

45. This also counts for Dis.

46. Saying your wild wolf is not a normal wolf but a Direwolf is not a good excuse.

47. Dressing up in bright pink dresses during dinner is not considered a proper dresscode.

48. Especially the ones that are way too small. We can see everything down there.

49. If Fili asks you to kill a spider, no matter the size, kill it, because if you will not, he can, and will, burn down the mountain.

50. Wolves are not allowed within a five mile radius of the mountain.

Scenario Prompts: *For prompts with Characters A and B; you can choose who is who in your request (who is reader and/or character)

Huddled together to keep warm.

Fall asleep in same bed, on opposite sides, wake up in each others arms.

Character A comes to talk to Character B, pretending to be B's s/o when a stranger is making B uncomfortable. Leads to them asking B out on an actual date.

Running from dangerous person or monster.

Hunting down dangerous person or monster.

Separated forcefully or for reasons you can't control, run into each other again years later on accident.

Get locked in somewhere together.

Continuously running into one another for days after having a meet cute.

Hands brush as you stand next to each other, you think it's on accident until their hands gentle wrap around yours.

Shielding the other with their body to save/protect them.

Caught staring too many times for it to be a coincidence.

Size difference hug; they engulf you.

You refuse to leave so they pick you up and throw you over their shoulder.

Character A can tell Character B is getting nervous in a big crowd, so A slips their hand into theirs to help them calm down.

The panic between thinking you lost them and the relief of seeing they are okay.

Character A teaching B to ice skate/roller skate.

B taking care of A when they are sick.

Holding hands underneath the table.

Bandaging the other and then kissing the injury gently.

A surprises B with a picnic.

Getting stuck at the top of the Ferris Wheel.

B sitting/standing behind A and leaning into them as they show/teach them how to do something.

A kisses B, but A can tell there is no feeling behind it anymore.

As you begin to fall asleep, you feel a gentle kiss pressed to your temple and a blanket draped over you.

B comforting A as they wake up from a nightmare.

A realizing that they have feelings for B when they see them with someone else.

B bringing A hand-picked flowers.

Thinking you are alone in the house but you hear a noise upstairs.

B buys A's dream house and surprises them.

Cliff/floor breaks out beneath A and as they fall B manages to grab their hand at the last second.

A leaves baked goods for B anonymously, but B already knows that it's A.

B surprises A with a cake for their birthday even though A forgot what day it was/or didn't know B knew it was their birthday.

Sharing an umbrella.

Walking together and it starts to rain, so they grab your hand and you start running until you can find somewhere to escape getting wet.

A and B meet randomly, B finds out A is on an important mission or quest and decides to go with them to protect them/watch over them.

Fake date to a wedding; leads to confession.

A game of 20 questions that ends with "Can I kiss you?"

There's a big storm going on outside while A is at B's house, so B insists they sleep over.

A hears that B got hurt and rushes over in a panic to see if they are okay.

B just moved to town and really only knows A (just met). B is being followed or is lost and calls A for help. Of course they come to help and it turns into a date of sorts.

A falling asleep while sitting next to B, as there head falls onto B's shoulder, B stays as still as they can, afraid to wake A.

Cloudgazing or Stargazing together, as you lie next to each other, their hand slips into yours.

Looking around for the shirt you left at your s/o's house; only to find it in a drawer with other clothes and items you've left.

B get's so nervous about their dinner date with A that they accidentally make enough food to feed ten people.

A hand written love lover left at your doorstep.

B dancing to music as their cooking or cleaning, and as they spin around A suddenly appears, grabbing onto B and continuing to dance with them.

A grabs B's hand instinctively out of surprise or fear, and continues to hold it.

A keeps catching B (a stranger) staring at them from across the room and feels self conscious, until B finds them later and tells them that they couldn't stop staring out of awe/attraction.

A and B realizing they were holding hands the entire time the moment they had to let go. (after getting scared, nervous, frightened, etc.)

A buying B groceries because they knew they forgot to buy themselves food again.

B is sad because they accidentally threw something important away. A shows up later with said thing, smelling like trash.

A finding a hand-sketched photo of them on B's desk.

B hearing A sing for the first time (due to karaoke, or walking in on them, etc.) and being surprised at how good they sound.

B helping A step down from a high place by taking their hand, and then not letting go as they continue to walk.

Comparing hand sizes, then linking fingers together.

Dancing around the living room of the first home you've bought together.

Long distance relationship; receiving a good morning text every morning, until one day you don't. You are worried, but then there is a knock at your door.

B is sunshine, rainbows and kindness. A is night, rain-clouds and anger. But when A meets B, they bask in the sunshine and never want to leave.

A asking B on a date until they say yes.

B asking A to attend a wedding with them, to get out of going with someone their parents tried to set them up with.

Not confusing at all! Here are my thoughts on first kisses:

First Kiss Prompts

"I would very much like to kiss you right now." "Please."

"I'm not sure how to..." "Just follow my lead."

"Is it ok if I kiss you?" "I would like that very much."

"I knew I would love kissing you, but it this was..." "Even better than the dream?" "Yes."

"This would probably the perfect moment for a kiss..." "And we probably shouldn't waste it."

"I would like to show you how I good I feel when I'm with you."

"I've never done this before. I'm probably not going to be great at it." "Neither have I. But we could figure it out together."

The first kiss was not like the movies. It was a bit too stiff and at an awkward angle. But the second one was already better. Later that evening they had already become masters.

It was always exciting to kiss someone knew. The first shy touches of yet to be claimed lips, leading to soft sighs and deepening feelings.

The feather-light touch on her lips made her feel warm and safe.

It was the first time their lips were meeting, but they immediately knew that it wouldn't be the last.
