Luz is definitely going to be a ride - they absolutely live for that cat and mouse dynamic. The tension between a morally upright MC trying to stay true to their principles while getting pulled into Luz’s world is chef’s kiss.

As for keeping that golden heart… well, Sordia has a way of testing everyone’s limits. The city doesn’t really let anyone stay completely clean, but how much you compromise (and what lines you won’t cross) will definitely be up to you.

Luz will absolutely try to corrupt you though. They find genuine goodness fascinating but also very irritating in the worst way. That smile of theirs? Yeah, it’s designed to make people horny make bad decisions

Ace: Tries to balance being good with keeping their kid alive in Sordia. Teaches them to fight because kindness alone won’t survive here. But loves to play Good Cop/Bad Cop with MC (they decide that through rock, paper, scissors)

Arden: Brutally honest about how cruel the world is. No sugarcoating, just practical survival skills and medical knowledge. But also very protective and gentle.

I feel like, for information sake, the MC would have contacts in the Styx organization should they still exist, so I have 3 major questions:

Is Styx or any other anti supernatural organization still active?

Will there be an option to join such an organization in the story? Or more interestingly, to have an origin of joining such an organization then leaving after seeing the problems within?

This is just a scenario that I'm curious about: What are the ROs reactions to MC confessing that they are/were once a hunter? Dating stage please 🌟

Yeah, anti-supernatural groups like Styx are still around, though they’re pretty much all fanatics/cults now.

As a journalist, MC could totally have contacts in these groups for info but honestly, none of the ROs would date someone actually involved in organizations like Styx. Luz, E and Arden and most bloodborns have encountered organization’s like this at one point or another in their life and it’s never a good experience. Ace hates for what they stand because Styx exposed the supernatural world and now their new mission is to eradicate as many bloodborns as possible and protect humanity. None of the RO’s would date MC in this scenario sorry 😅

MC’s thing would be more investigating and exposing these groups, not joining them. Besides they’re too smart to fall for their propaganda ✨

I have to say, I disagree with ai anon - especially on the last two points! (I say while using the ""universal ai tell"" em dash lol)

I feel like most authors (both books and IFs) actually give those more general, sweeping kinds of descriptions about characters sense of style unless they're describing a specific outfit. Just like most people, fictional characters don't have to stick with the same exact colors, materials or designs - they can have lots of variety and I feel like "flamboyant" and "expensive" are a good baseline without going into details. Especially if the character doesn't have a set preference like "always wears suits" or "mostly wears silk and satin".

And the third point you already argued against so I won't do the same, but as a librarian who has read books from all the authors you mentioned and more - I agree 100% that writing in shorter, punchier sentences isn't an ai-quirk. And like you said, it's not even that recent! It's especially popular with more adult (not YA) writers, and it makes me so, so sad that people think it's an ai thing. Especially when they then turn around and use it as "proof" of someone using ai in their work.

So here’s what I thought: Bloodlines stayed hidden for hundreds of years, basically ruling from the shadows. Powerful families became part of the rich/ oligarchy. The weaker bloodborns just wanted to live quietly and blend in, which gets pretty tough when you’ve got scales or different colored eyes that won’t go away.

There were tons of conflicts between different Bloodlines over the years - hidden wars called the Blood Wars. But their secret got blown in 1991 (timeline is not 100% set yet so the year could change) when a human supernatural hunter group called Styx managed to capture, experiment on, and film bloodborns.

How school works now:

Powerful bloodborn kids go to fancy elite schools just for them

Weak bloodborn kids go to regular schools with humans since their powers aren’t really dangerous anyway (and the city doesn’t care much anyway)

There are special schools for bloodborn kids with disabilities

Most of Primordial and Chimaera kids get sent to special schools outside the city since their powers can be super unstable and unpredictable (but also because of prejudice)

About aging and death: Nobody’s immortal - everyone can die 💀. People from stronger bloodline families might age slower and live around 150 years. Way back, there were these “immortal monarchs” who could live up to 500 years, but that bloodline got weaker and the blood thinner over time. Back then, history got rewritten a lot to avoid suspicion - rulers would fake their deaths and rule from the shadows. The ones who didn’t want to give up power? They got murdered, poisoned, or exiled.

Dating rules: People can date whoever they want as long as everyone’s an adult (18+). So yeah, you’ve got some old Leonardo DiCaprio-type Infernals walking around with young twenty-somethings, or cougar Draegon ladies with their pool boys. In their eyes: fair game is fair game.

About forbidden rituals: Nope, no forbidden rituals that people know of. Last time they tried turning humans into supernaturals, they created unstable Chimaera people, so that was a hard lesson learned.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

I don’t mean this in an accusatory way at all. just that I’ve worked a lot with tools like ChatGPT and I’ve started to recognize certain writing patterns that show up consistently in ai generated content. I thought it might be helpful to walk through the specific lines that stood out and why.

this line really caught my attention because it sounds poetic on the surface, but when I looked closer, I wasn’t entirely sure what it meant. the structure — “X should not exist in the same Y” — is a kind of dramatic metaphor AI uses often, but it starts to fall apart under scrutiny. eyes can exist in a skull — even mismatched ones — so the phrase becomes more style than substance. it sounds evocative, but the image doesn’t quite land. that kind of vagueness is something I’ve seen in a lot of AI-generated prose, where the emotional tone is strong but the logical coherence is shaky.

heres where I felt the difference between human-written fashion description and ai written “vibe.” real authors, in my experience, tend to describe clothing through specifics — texture, color, cut, cultural influence, accessories, movement, sensory impressions, something visual.

if I tried to draw this character's outfit based on what’s written here, I wouldn't be able to — there’s nothing visual to anchor the look beyond “flamboyant” and “expensive.” that’s a major trait of AI-generated fashion writing: it gestures at aesthetic without painting a picture. It sounds dramatic, but ultimately leaves the reader with nothing tactile or concrete to hold onto.

i noticed that throughout the intros, the phrasing mirrors a common AI stylistic quirk: short, declarative sentences with a dramatic pause or contrast structure ("like they own them / because they usually do"). It’s rhythmically punchy yes but also template-like. It follows a pattern you’d often see in ai generated character introductions. these one-word sentence fragments are another frequent ai move. On their own, they don’t show ruthlessness or calculation — they just tell it. This kind of shorthand is easy for an ai to generate, and it often replaces more nuanced, behavior-driven character insight.

there were some more sentences that had me scratching my head but i ultimately decided not to include them because i had nothing to back them up with other than my hunch lol

Hey no problem and I like when people have questions/feedback so let me explain (you’re now allowed to catch a glimpse into my thought process muahahha):

I was writing the intros from the perspective of a normal humie observing and trying to capture how unsettling that would look to the observer. The 'shouldn't exist in the same skull' phrasing is meant to express that visceral feeling of 'this looks wrong/unnatural/scary' especially since red is an unnatural colour and heterochromia is rare. I was going for a dark, gritty description where the observer is genuinely disturbed by this person's appearance. But maybe it sounds too weird?

Okay, about the clothes - this is totally on me! I’m honestly terrible at describing outfits (characters? Sure! Clothes? My imagination just goes blank 💀). So I kept things vague thinking people could picture their own ideas of what the characters dress. One of Luz’s main traits is being flamboyant. They don’t just wear dark colors but throw in bright ones too because they want to be noticed. When I say expensive, I mean stuff like Gucci, Armani, that level of luxury. But I didn’t want to name-drop specific brands for everything since people wear different things, right? So I just said expensive so readers know they’re wearing clothes none of us could afford lol. I figured it made sense like what else would a rich crime boss wear if not designer brands? But you’re right, it’s good feedback and I’ll definitely try to add more detail in my descriptions!​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

This point I have to argue since honestly it's sad that people think this is an AI quirk because it's not - it's just contemporary literary style. Authors like Chuck Palahniuk, Gillian Flynn, James Ellroy, Karin Slaughter and Dennis Lehane and probably many more all write with short, punchy sentences and one-word fragments. Here is an example from Chuck’s book Choke:

just found your blog and so far your IF sounds really interesting. i was so intrigued, that i was searching or the link to the demo, only to realize, that it doesnt exist yet.

when first realizing, that Mc is weaker than the RO´s/most other people i had 2 thoughts: a) wouldnt a (investigative journalist) MC already crafted a safety net for themselfs consisting of dirt, secrets, blackmail and whistleblowers, who would publish those informations incase of MC´s demsie? [under the assumption, that we play as an MC that is already an establish investigative journalist in the city]; and b) i envisioned the following scene => MC got kidnapped and ready to get killed. a higher up then asks for MC´s last words, to which they just say a date. after seconds of silence, MC is let go. congrats, you have a scene, where a regular human has a badass moment.

now to my questions:

depending on MC´s occupation, will there be "special" flavour scenes OR dialogue choices, that are only avaiable with the specific occupations? ==> e.g. someone needs secrets to blackmail someone, will there be a choice only avaiable for the investigative journalist, like "i already have what you want, but it will cost something"

can you tell some more details about how the story construct will look like? what i mean is: => will there be multiple endings; will there be special endings for each RO when in a realtionship with them (criminal powercouple MCxLuz *wink wink*); will there be good and evil endings/paths => will there be stats and if so: how much will they influence? only flavoure text or locking you out of choices? => etc.

do you plan to introduce all RO´s in the prologue/chapter 1? or will some only appear in later chapters for the first time?

you mentioned that each career background would have advantages and setbacks. could you share (some) advantages of each one? i personally cant see a difference between investigative journalist and whistleblower (in terms of different advantages) for example

i was on the fence interms of which RO to choose. it was either E or Luz. the most recent ask about the MCxLuz power couple swayed me in the end towards Luz. this question i ask for your opinion as the author: if i want to romance Luz and (if possible) get the criminal powercouple ending, what would you say would be the "best" (lorewise/storywise/additional scenes;flavourtext;etc) career background for MC?

a) Yes MC is already well known in Sordia and has a safety net the player can decide if they've good morals for a journalist or are a little corrupted. Some people will depend on the career background.

b) Yep you got it right! MC is not dumb and needs to plan beforehand 🙂‍↕️

Question 1:

Yes depending on MC´s career background, there will be special flavour scenes, skills and dialogue choices, that are only avaiable with the specific occupation

Question 2:

There will be multiple endings career wise and RO wise. Bad endings, neutral endings, somehow good endings you name it.

Still not 100% sure about all the stats but there will be a reputation stat, paranoia stat, personality stat based on MCs base personality, morality stat, vices, relationships. I don't know how much they'll influence since I need to see how this works coding wise. But yes I would like it to impact flavour text, choices etc.

Question 3:

No. Prologue is Mauds POV. Chap 1 you'll be able to meet Ace and the rest of the RO's in Chap 2.

Question 4:

Okay so this can still change but basically MCs writing and reporting style will differ a little. And they'll get a special trait and skill. I don't have my notes with me so I think it was:

Investigative Journalist

Trait: Stubborn or Methodical

Skill: Research & Investigation (sees connections faster and doesn't miss clues) but people hunt their contacts and paranoia stat is higher

Whistleblower

Trait: Relentless or Arrogant

Skill: Insider Access/Information Networks (through hacking) but corruption stat is higher and you start with a very bad reputation stat since no one likes a Whistleblower in Sordia

War Correspondent

Trait: Hardened

Skill: Knows Self-Defense Moves (has a better reputation) but can be too reckless (gets scars, hurt or can die easier)

Tabloid Reporter

Trait: Manipulative

Skill: Persuasion can make people talk easier but is seen as untrustworty (bad reputation)

Question 5:

Honestly every character will react differently and have their opinions sure but I don't think they necessarily have a fave. There isn't a best option story lore wise etc. since I'm aiming for equal representation. MC is the face of lots of news. The articles they write and report will differ but in the main story MC will need to investigate about those 12 photos.

Honestly, who would be brave enough to cheat on the MC?! so no, Egon/Emme definitely wouldn't cheat. There is always the option of surrogacy or adoption from the Han Bloodline, so cheating or having another spouse isn't necessary. Take E's family for example. Their real parents died when they were 2 and they got adopted by the current Han Matriarch and she has a human wife (i love myself a female powercouple). Also, Egon/Emme would adopt a kid and not use surrogacy because of reasons...👀
