Best werewolf show I’ve seen on television, that’s easy. Wolfblood. Really? Had I been tuned in to that, I probably would have never written Mongrels. I’d have just been watching that show instead. Wolfblood, it’s got teeth and heart. And, each episode, it’s exploring another facet or aspect of life as a werewolf. It complicates the werewolf instead of reducing it, or letting it be what we already know. That’s what we want from the stories we engage, isn’t it? To be challenged, not pacified. Sure, it’s targeted at a younger demographic, and it’s got a thirty-minute slot, which limits what can be done. But it doesn’t really limit it. Wolfblood does more in its time than most hour-shows do in their whole season. I completely love it.

i’m really enjoying your wolfblood posts on my dash…i was super into the show while it was airing but i completely forgot about it until now! :3

why consume new media when you can simply rewatch the media you used to love when you were younger? 😌✌

Anywhere, here are my hot takes about a show almost no-one cares about anymore:

Series 1 and 2 are objectively much better written than series 4 and 5 (s3 is fine. it's whatever), but I have a huge soft spot for 4 and 5 because I personally like the characters more. The themes, the plot, the MUSIC, the aesthetic. Series 1-3 are better in every way. But...I love my silly goofy series 4 and 5 cast of characters <3

Tom is my fave series 1-3 character. I wish they'd bothered to explore his character more than they did. When he momentarily lost his mind during series 3 I was clapping and cheering for him. Like, Tom sweetie I'm so sorry you got reduced to 'side character that hangs around and is supportive to the others' and then, in the one story arc that actually attempted to acknowledge this issue, no one ever really apologised to you at the end.

I want to like Shannon so, so badly. I DO like Shannon, in fact, when she's busy taking a backseat. But she makes it SO difficult sometimes.

Rhydian and Maddy are fine. They're fine. I can understand why people like them both so much but I'm mostly indifferent about them sorry.

TJ and Katrina are my series 4 and 5 faves. They are so stupid. I love them so much.

I love Katrina/Robyn so much and I'm grateful for a canon wlw pairing on a cbbc show, even if they were extremely rushed. That said....I wish we'd gotten Katrina/Jana. The set up was so much better and the characters had better chemistry and I'm sad that they shoehorned in a romance with Jana/Matei instead. Jana is bi in my heart, even if not in canon.
