It was almost impossible for her to promise such a thing. She was IMPULSIVE and while being pregnant had toned down that a little, it didn’t a lot. She was still more than capable of protecting herself and her healing abilities only protected the baby that much more.

Besides, no one dared to try and hurt the baby. They all NEEDED Hope. Something that quite frankly, irritated Nikola beyond words. There was no way she was letting anyone have her child. That would be the last mistake anyone would ever make,

“As long as they do not give me a reason to hurt them, I won’t.”

While Elijah would have preferred his rapidly-growing sister to let them help her, mostly when it came to her own safety, he knew that was never going to happen. To let someone, even her siblings, hold that much of her fate in their hands was asking too much. Nikola had always been determined to stand on her own two feet. She always had something to prove even if it was only to herself. Each action she made resonating with the idea that she was better off alone.

Even this moment now. She moved from him, breaking it, stepping back as if she couldn’t afford even a moment of something that wasn’t solid marble: hard and cold.

Elijah sighed softly and narrowed his eyes a bit. “ I’ll do my best to take that as a compliment and not as if I’m a dog you’ve patted on the head. ” Then just as quick as hers, his own armor returned. Elijah brushed invisible lint from his immaculate suit, all hard lines and pointed edges. “ Do you promise you can try and play nice? Believe it or not, the one thing we don’t need in this world is more enemies, especially when your child is born. ”

Ten closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath. He felt so happy to hear her voice again, a sound so beautiful, like music to his hearts, Both of his hearts skipped a beat and instantly he regretted not telling her those three little words on that beach that day.

He loved her. God did he love her. Why was he just seeing it now?

“Oh you know. Zygon’s, daleks, saving the world. Running. The usual.”

Trying to Call Home

Rose so badly wanted to just give him a hug. She got what she wanted though! A chance to talk with the Doctor about the dimension cannon. Maybe he could tell her the extra parts or how they needed to be fit together in order for it to work. To hear his tongue wrap around her name like it does was something she missed and she was happier than what she probably should have been that he told her of how he missed her too. It was probably the closest thing she would hear to those three words she told him on the beach months ago.

“So what kind of trouble have you gotten into since I left?” She asked, not wanting to get straight to work on the cannon. Besides, she was kind of nervous about what he would think about it.

Whatever they were saying, Ten didn’t seem to be hearing them. Instead he was picking up a chip before freezing, remembering how much Rose loved these. He hadn’t had a preference towards them until Rose. Now he loved them, nearly as much as bananas. 

Popping it into his mouth, he suddenly looked up when he heard the familar voice close to him. He blinked at her, almost wide-eyed, before quickly chewing and swallowing so that he should speak.

“Oh! Sorry about that, didn’t mean to stare. You just look like someone I know.” Knew....someone he knew. Take a breath, Doctor, you’re fine, no need to rush your words like that.

He gestured to the seat in front of him, “Go ahead, sit!” He said, sending a smile in her direction before scooting the chips a little bit away from him and towards her to offer her some. “Chip?”

Starting Over

Rose turned back around to face Sam but before they could even talk about the man with great hair staring at her Sam reached out and grabbed her arm. “He’s coming this way.” Sam whispered to Rose.

The blonde froze slightly, thinking that the man finally got the nerve to come and talk with her. She took a swig of her drink, swishing it about in her mouth a moment to make sure she had nothing in her teeth. He didn’t stop by her table though. He kept walking, to his own table. 

Out of the corner of her eye she kept tabs on him, not wanting to out right stare at him. When he ordered his own basket of chips, Rose felt like she was meant to go over and talk with him. She got nervous though. The last time she talked to a guy when with Sam got her into trouble. He didn’t look like he would be like Jimmy but then again neither did Jimmy when she first met him.

“You just got back from France. You can forget about Frenchie have a good shag and go on about your life. No one said you had to go talk to him and get tied down.” Sam told her when Rose expressed her nerves.

“What about me surprising Tony?” Rose asked, trying to get out of going over there just yet. She knew what Sam said was true but she felt this pull towards Mr. Sad Eyes that she couldn’t really explain.

“I’ll pull you away when you need to go not get your pretty little blonde bum over there and talk with him.” Sam said.

Rose huffed. “Fine.” She ran her fingers through her hair and got Sam’s approval before she made her way over to where the Doctor was sitting.

She flashed him her light up the room smile even as she fidgeted. “This totally isn’t like me and you can say no but I couldn’t help but notice you staring earlier and figured I would come over say hi, maybe even ask to join you?”

It was best if they stuck together. He didn’t like Rose wondering off, he never did, and especially not now. They had no idea what they were dealing with and he didn’t want Rose being snatched up either.

“Stay with me.”

Warehouse 42 A

The eerie silence on the street added to the chills Rose had when she looked at the missing person’s flyers. She was surprised that it seemed like nothing was being done about it. It was obviously something terrible if no one was out looking. 

“Perfect!” Rose exclaimed at his idea. “So you take one side and I the other or are we sticking together?” She wondered.

If this was a dream, Ten never wanted to wake up. Hearing her voice after all this time was like all his wishes had come true. He wished he could see her, but talking to her would have to do.

“And I’ve missed you, Rose Tyler.”

How her body was just humming in the excitement that she could hear her Doctor’s voice again. She nearly bounced she had so much energy.

“Yes. Yes, Doctor, it’s me. It’s really me! Gods, I’ve missed hearing your voice.”
