my uncle was somewhat of a rascal. we were hanging out on the roof of his barn when i was ten, and we saw some shooting stars. he told me they were angels carrying messages from god. then he handed me his old hunting rifle and taught me how to nick one out of the sky, even when it was travelling all fast like that, and how to triangulate its location — taking me out in his rusty truck down dirt roads, unerring and unceasing, until we saw that gleaming lantern. he pocketed the note from god and took me down to a pinboard where he was working on deciphering the language with his friend who was a linguistics major but got kicked out of grad school. after they shook hands, they held on for just a bit too long and i started wondering why my aunt doesn’t live with my uncle anymore, but then my uncle took me back up stairs and taught me how to fry the angel up real nice, halo and all. it was tasty

Damn I’ve been busy the past couple years. Long story short I speed ran university and graduated, went across the gender and sexuality spectrum, found a wonderful partner, worked my ass off at several different jobs, got my own place, and did a LOT of self discovery and healing along the way.
My problems aren’t primarily religious trauma at the moment so this blog will likely see some shift in content.
Thanks to everyone who’s been kind to me along the way <3

Have seen a reoccurring talking point in which people claim that non-passing transmascs and GNC women are not subject to violence like non-passing transfems and GNC men are.
And I just frankly want to know what reality these people are living in. As someone who grew up in the Bible Belt, feminine gender roles are violently enforced on us, to a very extreme degree. Often through means such as beatings and sexual assault. And if not physically, then through emotional abuse and social isolation.
Especially as reproductive rights are being taken away at alarming rates, gender roles are being more heavily enforced, and our lack of reproductive autonomy is used as a means of control.
To see people say we don't face violence when we don't conform is absolutely gutwrenching. Especially when it comes from fellow trans people, and even more so when they claim to be transfeminists.
Like, I cannot fathom not just making such an absurd claim, but then using it as a bludgeon to silence us. And often it's used to claim that we're not just "less" oppressed, but that we ourselves are oppressors!!
It makes me feel like I'm in the twilight zone

it's almost funny how quickly xtians will pivot from "god's word is clear, all you need to do is read the bible, god's word is openly available to everyone" to "actually you need to read it in this specific way with these three pieces of cultural context you couldn't have possibly known without prior research and a history and biblical studies phd to understand this" when you point out anything even slightly unsavory or that something doesn't make sense. so which is it? is the bible clear and easily accessible to anyone who picks it up, or do you need a doctorate to begin to even possibly understand it?

Not feminist as in "women should be included in the draft" but feminist as in "being drafted is a violation of bodily autonomy for any gender".
The draft should not exist. Drafting people into the military is a violation of human rights. You should not be able to force someone to risk their life. If you can't find enough people who care about a conflict to keep it going then it simply shouldn't keep going. You can't even force someone to donate a kidney using government power, why the fuck can you force them to donate their whole body and life to a cause they don't agree with or don't care about?

Text: decoupling pregnancy from femininity means accurate and more inclusive language and treatment, but it also allows cis women to refuse motherhood without refusing womanhood, which is great for feminism and terrifying for misogyny.
–THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS. As a sterile cis woman who doesn’t want to have children anyway I feel this is every ounce of my being. “Define woman” types tend to do so in a way that excludes me too, so I got to stand with my trans sisters.

I forgot that I legitimately believed I wouldn't grow up to be an adult when I was a kid because of rapture theology and end times beliefs... and my church rarely even focused on that (from what I remember). It was just that ingrained in the culture.

seeing people my age talk about how scared they are of memory loss, which they only associate with old age, is so surreal to see as a 24 year old who has actively experienced memory loss for a long time now
there are causes for memory loss besides dementia and alzheimer’s, i hope y’all know that. dissociative disorders, trauma, brain injuries, thyroid problems, even just stress and lack of sleep can fuck up your ability to store, process, and access memory. and that’s just a few of the many causes i can think of off the top of my head right now.
please stop treating disabled people like some scary “other” that you might become only in the distant, decades-away future. we are your age, too. you may become one of us sooner than you know. stop acting like memory loss marks the end of a life, when so many of us have so much living left to do!

It's wild that you don't necessarily need to even be abused to have childhood trauma. Like just having an excessively negative, spiteful, toxic and mean-spirited parent is enough, even if they never do it at you, or on purpose. Imagine being a doctor and explaining that to a parent.
"Hey you know how you don't have any friends because people find you unpleasant to be around? Well it turns out that your child is also a person, and finds you unpleasant to be around. Growing up in an environment where they are constantly subjected to your opinions technically counts as torture, since the situation was both continuously distressing and inescapable. You are literally so annoying that you gave your child brain damage."

"Lorelei" by Cocteau Twins is a remarkable song in that it sounds EXACTLY the way an EXTREMELY good Benadryl high on a VERY low dose feels.
