Natural Recollections: 'Parker's Pipewort' in paper... . This tiny, unassuming flower lives an adventurous life. Twice daily it is fully submerged by water, growing only within the narrow strip of habitat between low and high tide in freshwater estuaries. Once abundant on the east coast, this species has disappeared from many portions of its former range, including along the Hudson River. Scientists point to multiple causes for this decline including water pollution, habitat loss due to shoreline development, dams, invasive species and sea level rise. @natureserveorg .
