The big difference between Elriels, Eluciens, and Gwynriels is that Elriels ship them based on what we've actually read in the books—and knowing they're canonically into each other—while the others ship their pairings based on the idea of what they could be if they ever got close.

It's funny how Vassa has been in the series indirectly ever since ACOMAF, and directly since ACOWAR. She is also directly connected to the Big Bad of the series, to the Archeron sisters via their father, to Elain via her visions, to Lucien, and to the Cauldron via both Elain and Jurian. Not to mention that she played an integral part in winning the war AND is now living Lucien, who is directly connected to the IC, and again, Elain.

Yet she is 'unimportant' and 'forgettable'.

But the chick who isn't connected to anyone but Nesta, has been in one book, and who cut a ribbon, is SO important that she is apparently the next FMC.

Make it make sense.

how come when azriel is quiet and keeps to himself he’s hot and mysterious but when elain is quiet and keeps to herself she’s boring with no personality

It’s genuinely funny how some people go to such lengths to dismiss all the Elriel interactions and obvious foreshadowing, while at the same time they’re trying to find deep, hidden meanings in vague or irrelevant lines and interactions to support their own interpretations. If anyone is reaching, it’s not us.

yall want strong female character as long as she wields swords, is an extrovert, she’s “not like the other girls” etc. but when you get a feminine character that is actually complex and strong because she exhibits actual traits of women who lived through years of being completely pushed aside, you spew mysoginistic bs everywhere. introverted, traditional females used their brains and their words to live through ages of patriarchal society - it was their strength. who do you think you are to undermine and shame on women who keep such values or characteristics?

cassian after his almost kiss with nesta in his bonus:

I won’t fall for the propaganda that Lucien knew what Elain needed to get better. He couldn’t even tell what was amiss with her, and he’s her mate. Fresh air didn’t make her any better. It was Azriel realizing she’s a seer that actually helped her.

Let’s not forget that neither Elain nor Azriel have shown romantic interest in Lucien or Gwyn. If someone tries to tell you otherwise, that’s just wishful thinking.

It is absolutely wild to me that this is used as evidence of romantic coding for Gwynriel

When this scene exists in the same exact book as evidence of Elriel:

These scenes are completely different from one another and only one of them has any sort of romantic coding or romantic tension.

Gwyn makes a high pitched noise and Azriel half turns towards her from the other side of the training ring. He never moves towards her. Meanwhile Elain bursts out in laughter and Azriel actually follows the sound of her laughter to another room. He goes in search of her to see her in a moment of joy. To see the cause of her joy and what made her laugh. Her laughter actually draws him to her.

And when he hears Gwyn’s sound of pure excitement, he half raises his eyebrows. Meanwhile, when he goes in search of Elain after hearing her laughter, he shares a “charged” look. A look that we know based on the bonus is full of desire, and tension, and longing for her. And the fact that it’s emphasized that the charged look passes “between them”, it means that this isn’t one sided. It’s mutual longing. It’s mutual desire. It’s mutual romantic tension. Elain feels it just as much as he does and that’s why she can’t turn away his gift and gives him permission to kiss her in the bonus. He wants her and she wants him. It’s really that simple.

It will never cease to amaze me that this scene is completely dismissed and people were “surprised” by the bonus…while actually using Azriel half turning and merely raising his eyebrows at gwyn when she makes a high pitched squeal as evidence of a future relationship. One is clearly romantic. One is him being in the same vicinity of a person of the opposite sex and reacting to a noise. They’re not remotely the same.

If the Gwynriel scene was supposed to indicative of a romantic relationship blossoming between Gwynriel, then it was way too subtle. And the Elriel scene had no business being there. Sarah would have never had Azriel eye fucking Nesta’s sister right in front of her and then have Elain reciprocate as well. She never would have made Azriel’s secret center on Elain, and Nesta comfort him on solstice of Nesta’s new BFF was supposed to be his new endgame. It makes zero sense. She never would have had Azriel show little emotion when Gwyn was kidnapped and thrown in the BR, and then have him more worried about saving Eris than Gwyn if they were endgame. All while mentioning elain’s kidnapping several times in which Azriel risked his life to save her, then have him repeatedly protective over Elain. Whether it was because of the DT or when Nesta insulted Elain and his shadows gathered like snakes ready to strike her or when he became angry when he thought Nesta hurt Elain again. None of that had any business or point being in the book if Gwynriel was supposedly being set up.

I disliked the idea of Elucien ever since I read the thoughts Lucien had about Elain. Nothing about them felt romantic. In fact, a lot of it made me uncomfortable.

Like…

"She’d seen him not as a High Lord’s seventh son, but as a male. Had loved him without question, without hesitation. She had chosen him. Elain had been … thrown at him.”

“Mine. You are mine, and I am yours. Mate.”

“Another male’s ring, another marker that she was claimed—”

How is this romantic? In Lucien’s thoughts, Elain comes across more like a possession than a person.

And then people have the audacity to say Azriel feels entitled to Elain, but they defend this? I honestly don’t get it.

What Lucien says doesn’t read as love. It reads as entitlement. He never even calls Elain by her name. It’s always “my mate”.

It's interesting that elriel month gets shadow banned bc multiple ppl reported multiple pieces of elriel fan art...

Then gwynriels suddenly start mass blocking elriel.

Elriel month comes out w a statement about the mass reporting and being targeted.

Multiple elriels have had gwynriels reporting random elriel comments & content

And then today gwynrielweek comes out w their own statement claiming the same things happening to them.....

It's funny... this has been happening to them "for months" yet you never addressed it till now? You went around blocking tons of accounts only in the last couple of days?

Listen we all know who got elriel month shadow banned. You guys go after artists all the time, you publicly make fun of elriel & bryce azriel art. You’ve doxxed elriel and Bryce azriel shippers….You reported a bunch of elriel fanart for no reason to get elriel month shadow banned and then you went on a massive blocking spree so it doesn't happen to you.

And you guys got called out publicly and now are trying to cover yourselves and play the victim. This is what you guys do though. You bully, personally attack and harass other shippers and then gaslight yourselves into thinking your the victim.

your facade is up. And no amount of backtracking is going to change it. I’m so thankful the gwynriels are being so called out and everyone is seeing how they really are.

nothing will ever beat the rush i felt when i read the azriel bonus chapter for the first time and it confirmed the fact that elriel wasn't a figment of my imagination.
