7 feb. 2019.
i love planning so much and february is shaping up to be such a good month! today’s my second day off in a row because of ice storms, but at least that makes for good studying and planning sessions by the fire, as well as some prime time for starting a d&d campaign

15.1.19 I have finally submitted all of my assignments from teaching block 1. This is from doing my research project for Colonial and Postcolonial Geographies. I did it on Milan Kunderas The Book of Laughter and Forgetting, and the experience of Soviet colonial technologies from the perspective of an exile. I wasn’t that proud of it in the end but it’s submitted and gone now! I only had 10 days to do it. Just two weeks into the new year and I’ve written 33'000 words for essays! Xxx Emily

Planning Printables
Printable Pack #3
Hey guys, summer break just started so I thought I’d make some more printables for y’all. These are based off of some of the tools/planning methods I used (such as in my bullet journal, etc.) that helped me get through my first year of college - hopefully they’ll be helpful for you guys, too!
Download them here
Hope you have an awesome summer!

what do I do with my studyblr over the summer?
stuff for the summer!!
first of all,
dude, @areistotle has got your back!! she’s made a huge masterpost about what to do over the summer and stuff! you can slowly go down that list and post things and your progress, etc.!
that’s sure to be fun!
you can think about stuff you’re doing over the summer! are you going somewhere? are you going to do something?
watch a movie? post about it, your thoughts, review, etc.
go out with friends? take pictures!
have a journal / bujo? post your spreads and doodles!
have a hobby? take photos and post them! doodle and post them! writing? post them! post anything and everything!
reblog stuff, because inspirational study photos will always be around, ya know?
i know it’s gonna sound absolutely tiring, but you can study! there’s always something new to learn or review for next year!!
taking an advanced course? go study that!
find the syllabus or go bug another upperclassman about the classes you’re gonna take next year that they’ve taken and ask them what the class covers! find out and start reviewing!
it’ll make everything easier, trust me!
if you’re taking an advanced course like an AP or something, you can do summer homework and stuff for that!
set a goal and learn something new! learn how to play the guitar, improve your handwriting, set about mastering a new language, learn to cook, etc.!
and then you can post your progress on your studyblr!!
you can also set up making a masterpost or resources for the community! it’s always a good time to make masterposts and stuff for anything, even during the summer!
so basically even though school might be out
there are tons of things to do!
you just gotta get out there and do it!!!
and then record your progress and post it on your studyblr or something. (((:
hope this helped, anon! xoxo-jo

the cosy afternoon show with kyra aerin, s1, ep1
Kyra (aka. the host of the show) struts into the room with a flashy smile. Thunderous applause. She waves vigorously and gets comfy in her IKEA Strandmon chair. She sips on her warm coffee and snaps her fingers. The show has begun!
Ayo, pals! What do you define self care as?
Bubble baths! yells one.
Milk tea! says another.
Getting a mani-pedi! shrieks a woman in the front row.
We’ve seen some blrs’ posting pics of themselves getting expensive shots of espresso caffeine and luxurious bubble baths. And those posts were tagged as #selfcare.
But do you really need all that to take good care of your body, mind, and soul every day?
No.
If those bath bombs are waaay to expensive for you, don’t buy it.
If getting take-away coffee is too pricey, don’t get it.
Once you feel like getting those things are burdening you, that’s not self-care anymore.
Yeah, pal. Self care never meant trips to fancy cafés which break your bank, buying overpriced face masks, and luxurious spas. Self care is taking care of your health, be it physical, mental, or spiritually. Self care is taking care of your well-being. Self care is protecting your happiness.
So, what is self care then?
Self care is eating right. Self care is being happy. Self care is drinking enough water. Self care doesn’t have to be posh. Self care is a personal thing. Self care is about YOU taking care of yourself.
Self care is supposed to make you feel better. Self care makes you better.
Self care is meant to recharge yourself, your body, your mind, your soul. No one is perfect. Even the girl in your school whose life seems to be perfect is imperfect. We’re humans. Humans aren’t perfect.
Self care isn’t supposed to be a drag.
Just do it!
☝
What if.. you can’t do it? Don’t do it! That’s basic self care!
How to self care?
Here are some common (and easy) tips to care for yourself.
Get your beauty sleep, pal. Give your body the rest it needs.
Drink up. Glug. you look better already.
Unplug. No tech allowed.
Meditate. You can meditate on a particular verse from the Bible while playing some soft instrumentals in the background.
Take a bath. Or a shower.
Stretch and move yo muscles.
Journal! Keep a Gratitude Log and put down the things you’re grateful for in pen and paper.
Put yourself first. Know when to say no to other commitments and yes to self care!
Walk. Embrace the beauty of nature. Smell the flowers (literally) and bask yourself in that glorious sunshine.
What isn’t self care.
Self care is a list to perfect yourself. No
Self care is a fixing manual for yourself. No way.
Self care is being selfish. Nah-uh.
Self care IS knowing what’s best and right for you and others. Self care reminds you that you’re human. You’re not perfect. You have your limits. And that’s why we need self care. Because we have our limits and boundaries, we need to recharge. That’s self care.
I hope this helps your wellbeing, pal. Rest well and take some time off for yourself. Self-care is important. You matter.
Sending love,
Kyra

4.15.2019. Monday.
I enroll in my Fall classes later today! I’m taking cell biology and introduction to personalities, which personally sound 1000x more interesting than physics. And as an extra bonus, I get to keep my amazing Latin professor for another semester!

its weird to think about how many places I’ve forced myself to study while traveling; not even a quick, impromptu road trip can stop me! as much as I preach the importance of taking breaks (because you need them), sometimes you just can’t afford to stop the hustle. obviously I can’t speak for everyone, but I think that if you really need to get shit done, you’ll make time for it; no excuses!
