In response to the Spirit, Curses and Everything Between AU.

Ah, this AU is like created 3 years ago, I wasn't sure if anyone will be interested in it so I didn't post all of the arts I made for it. Hmm, as a summary it is basically this:

And if you are still interested, I have included the older art I have made for this AU that are still relevant under the cut (I can't remember if I have posted them here before and I am too lazy to check so if there are duplication, take that as a revision!):

You know the awkward moment when the person you framed for murder caught you during your work? Yeah, I get that sometimes.

Lore dump because i can (and because it’s needed so that people won’t get confused with the terms i use) 🙌

This AU was created by me during a biology lesson about ecology which is the reason why ecology is the main focus of this AU! This does unfortunately mean that this AU is more based on discovery rather than action like many AU’s.

The plot line basically follows a group of researchers who specialize in ecology and their journey with discovering a new (and quite chaotic) race under the Nymph Meliae genus. And before you panic because you don’t understand what that sentence means, I'll explain it 🙏. Everything in life is categorized in classes: Kingdom, Phylum, class, order, family, genus and species. All life has a name and a scientific name, but why? Take a wolf for example: even though wolf is the official english name of the wild carnivorous mammal, certain dialects could have a different name for said mammal which could result in confusion. To prevent said confusion scientific names were created!

The scientific name of an organism is created by combining the name of the genus and species, let’s take the wolf again as an example. The scientific name for a wolf is Canis (genus) lupus (species), however certain organisms also have subspecies. One popular example of this is: dogs! The official scientific name for a dog is also Canis Lupus, this is because dogs are domesticated wolves, however to prevent a mix up from happening dogs have their own subspecies (familiaris) to differentiate them from wolves.

Now back to the fantasy 🙌. As i said before everything in life is categorized meaning that the made-up species in my AU also have their own categorizations. Take the elves for example: their scientific name is Nymph (genus) Meliae (species), however they also have subspecies! This is because even though elves can mutually have intercouse and have healthy and fertile offsprings they vary too much in appearance and biology to be able to be classified under one category.

Post prison, Punz is still all Egged up and goes “nah I’m not doing this anymore” and takes Dream to the Egg. Egg gets drunk on Admin power. Stuff that hasn’t been written yet happens. I love it very much

I am happy that people heard traditional and decided to hurl me the hardest hair combo ever. But hey, to be fair, you did it traditionally too so i won’t complain further. This makes all my impulse purchase worth it 😂

That being said, this is a really pretty combo, I can’t make out the eyes as much, but I did see a hint of red so I took some liberty.

Anyway, here’s the official documentation of a star-touched chaos incarnate who may or may not be an entirely new subgender of Nymph Meliae.

(No, he won’t let us test his DNA. Yes, he knows we’re watching.)

1. A Star-touched, silk clothed, chaos incarnate

A New race of Nymph Meliae from an unknown location.

2. Abstract

An unidentified but consistently documented subject, informally referred to as “Dream,” discovered during the begin of the 21st century exhibiting traits consistent with the Nymph meliae, but whose physiological, magical, and behavioral markers fall outside any known subgenders. The subject has been provisionally classified as Nymph Meliae Asteria, pending genetic and ethereal stability testing (pending subject cooperation—unlikely).

3. Introduction

The Nymph genus has long eluded classification due to its tendency to be able to partially alter parts of reality depending on the specific species beneath the genus. While some believe them to be protectors of nature, others consider them to be mythical beings.

Documenting this new race is of high importance as the newly discovered race exhibits traits consistent with the Nymph Meliae but has its own unique markers that fall outside any known subgenders.

It also appears that this specific race is unique to the subject as attempts to locate similar subjects with the same race have lead to failure which further increases the importance of this discovery.

The discovery of Nymph Meliae Asteria has also caused a small war in the Classification Department. The head of Magical Botany is refusing to acknowledge it due to personal offense over being ignored by the subject.

4. Taxonomic Section

Nymph Meliae Asteria sp. nov.

Holotype:

Visual ID: long flowing golden blond hair, emerald green eyes, suspiciously perfect posture, long pointed elven ears, flowing and graceful silhouette (God he’s pretty).

Discovered 12 August 2000. Collected at 46°51′10″N 121°45′38″W (cascade range) by Lady Nyx, head researcher and ecologist.

Catalog # [REDACTED]. Intern Quackity swears he saw it smirk before he got attacked by a deer. We’re not sure if the intern got a concussion causing him to imagine the whole ordeal or if he genuinely saw the subject smirk.

Paratypes:

Every sighting ends with no valuable information/ recorded date retrieved.

Some records simply burst into flames upon review while others mysteriously disappear.

Description:

- Approx. 6'2 in perceived height

- Skin: human-like

- Voice: allegedly "velvet dripping in moonlight" (intern testimony #14).

- bioluminescent gradient markings on its arms

- No shoes. Please do not comment on the lack of shoes.

- Seemingly intersex (Highest likely possibility being MAIS)

Etymology:

Named Asteria, translating to “the starry one” from Ancient Greece due to his seemingly vast connection to the stars and in general celestial origin (and for taxonomic chaos).

*Taxonomic chaos: the tendency for this genus to defy all known categorization efforts, intentionally or otherwise.

Distribution:

no fixed home—wandering the world like a falling star.

*Researchers are still unable to confirm whether he travels by walking, teleportation, or celestial drift.

Ecology and Habitat:

- Lives quite literally everywhere, only spotted when it allows itself to be spotted

- Symbiotic relationship with nature and life

- Ecological role: unknown (being hauntingly beautiful).

Remarks (Discussion):

- Exhibits traits most consistent with Nymph Meliae

- Is aware of the observer’s presence

- Seemingly loves to bully Intern Quackity (A DEER NEARLY TRAMPLED ME WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PHOTOGRAPH HIM)

It is well known in scientific circles that elves have roamed the earth long before humans had started to evolve. One of their many nicknames: guardians of nature—fitting for a species so closely tied to nature.

But what if even the elves had a predecessor?

About the angel and the warden au— if angel Dream ‘fell’ would Sam have a reaction to it? Like would he feel guilty?

Listen, you are talking about the biggest simp, Sam. That man is incapable of causing any negative implication on Angel!Dream, at least not to the extent of Angel!Dream's environment. Yeah, in term of relativity, Sam wouldn't be the one who causes Dream to fall and therefore wouldn't actually feel guilty over the fact.

As for the second part, I think the use of 'seems to be more expressive' is the key here! A lot of the characteristics of angel in this AU is being written via observation from others. So narratively speaking, it is unclear if it is the truth. Therefore, here is the question: Is Angel!Dream really inexpressive in the beginning? Or is it human nature to submit to prejudice and believe it to be that way?

Techza grab Dream and go

He was just being a goober and then they yoinked him lmao

I am. So sorry about the delays my brain isn't working right

You know when you're in a really bad place and things stop feeling real? You're still doing everything normally, but if you stop for a second and think about what you're doing it all feels foggy and distant.

Well. Dream is planning what is basically his suicide in a few weeks. He is not there.

Phil has been jumping on and off the grid for a while, cackling while gliding down to attack the people of Lmaburg from above, his dark tattered wings set aglow from the tnt falling down. It's not off when he shows up once more. And Dream has been catching glimpses of pink from the corner of his eyes, distantly hearing Techno's and Philza's laughs intertwine while they shoot around with tridents. (He only notices now that his clothes are soaked and cold from the rain, the paint from his stupid shirt bleeding). It's not weird to see him up here either.

They must have come to say goodbye. Dream will stay here the whole night tho, long past the heat of the battle. He promised Techno bedrock, and someone needs to keep the redstone fed with tnt

He doesn't even notice Techno coming close (despite the fact that he's a huge piglin and is doing a comically awful sneaking pose) until there are warm hands warped around his waist and he's thrown over Techno's shoulder, him and Philza sprinting towards the artic to get as much distance in before Dream gets over his shock and starts fighting and screaming

(They don't get past the obsidian grind before Techno gets a knee to the stomach and Phil gets a foot slammed in his face. If you ask them they almost make it to the edge but in reality they only managed to run like 10 blocks. Dream's whole thing is fast reflexes after all)

I never thought about it like that, but gods damn that makes sense

I got to see the musical Les Misérables recently and it got me thinking... Who represents “the people” in the dsmp. I think the common perception is L’manberg, they have the flag after all. Tommy and Wilbur were certainly not wealthy in riches, surely they represent the poor people starving in the streets, fighting against an unfair system…Except in the beginning they are revolting against Dream, who is neither a king nor dictator nor government. He wasn’t forcing people into poverty or unjustly imprisoning people for stealing bread to become his slaves. On the contrary, he constantly gave out food and even returned people’s armor when the battles were over. I believe Dream even says himself [clip] that the people of L’manberg already had the freedom to build that land and make it their home and community. What they fought for was independence, which gave them the right to deny people freedom to enter their land. They fought not for their own freedom to exist, they already had that, but the right to enforce rules that limited other people’s freedom - only Europeans allowed, no armor… etc - They fought to establish the very oppressive government they claimed to revolt against and when they were kicked out by the very laws of the government they created, that’s when L’manberg (Manberg) needed to be overthrown. But not to dismantle the corrupt institution that allowed a legal dictatorship (like Techno thought) but to become the new dictators. In other words, L’manberg is less like the Les Mis revolutionaries and more like the corrupt government. In that case then, Niki is the people who will not be slaves again, Philza fought for the right to be free, Techno fought for the world he longs to see, Dream fought for his life to start, when tomorrow comes. They then are the people who were oppressed by the government (used as a slave for resources, hunted down and executed, discriminated against and unfairly treated, forced under house arrest because of a friendship… etc) singing for the freedom to simply live their lives. They are the ones singing the song of angry men. [song]

I love disc duo post-prison hanging out because their two modes are

"What do you do when you want to go home," Tommy peeked out, looking at Dream over the ripped holes on his pant's knees, "But home doesn't exist anymore?"

Dream froze, the floss on his needle tangling as he pulled the next stich way too hard.

"I don't know."

And

"Why is Tommy with you?"

Wilbur pointed casually at the blond, like he couldn't give a care, like he didn't have to hide a clutched first behind his back.

Dream's eyes become comically wide, just expression looking more fit for an startled hare then a human, but he looks back at Tommy, then at Wilbur, then at Tommy again, then at Wilbur again, before pointing to the blond himself

"You can see him?"

"I- Yes?" The tension left Wilbur's body, flushed out by confusion, "was he supposed to be invis or something?"

But Dream isn't paying attention anymore, looking at Tommy with horror, a hand covering his mouth

"We're you real this whole time?"
