I saw a few pictures of this book when I used to only lurk on Tumblr and had to have it!  I found it on Amazon.fr if you’re interested - adapted by Christine Beigel, illustrated by Christel Espié.  Sadly there’s no Persian, but otherwise it’s gorgeous and I had to share!

“Men want to beat me. I play men, six, seven hours a day. Men… they do not beat me.”
- Masako “Katsy” Katsura, first woman to compete for a world’s title in billiards
The “First Lady of Billiards” learned from her brother-in-law and in the 50s became Japan’s only female billiards pro. She paved the way for women to come, then left the spotlight and lived a quiet life. She died in 1995.

“Well, my name’s Jennifer Qupanuaq May…but apparently in the eyes of the government I’m still E8-2571,” she says with irony.
The 33-year-old Inuk woman from Kuujuuaq, Quebec, is referring to her Eskimo Identification Number, a long-forgotten government program that ran for decades in the North—all the way to the 1980s in some parts.
