Tumblr media
I haven’t spoken out on this platform that I have been blessed enough to acquire such a large following on and for that I am sorry. I have been in fear that my following on Tumblr wasn’t as significant as that of Instagram or Twitter. I would like to start off to say that what changed my mind is my faith in the Tumblr community sharing this across other platforms. The treatment of those in the African American community has been absolutely appalling, and more so the fact that it is just now being talked about. Recently, a beautiful amount of protests and supports have surfaced, but I have also seen hurtful things that stand with the oppressors. Many have stated that “all lives matter” which is not incorrect, but all lives cannot matter until black lives matter. The worst thing that I have seen during this time is the beautification of what is occurring. Some are using this as an excuse to post to be trendy, gain followers, and try to find something to spruce up their highlights on Instagram. Those of you in this group, I do not stand with you because you are a part of the problem. Beautification creates ignorance of the horrors that are occurring in the world. If you want to enact change you have to show how horrible what is happening is, not post a picture with different swatches. I do not respect you, you are not quirky, and you are quite uneducated. Inequality isn’t a trend. Inequality is a way of life that we, as a nation, have sadly grown accept. The true way to escape this inequality is in fact education and educating ourselves on the past is the first step. Education will allow us to further understand those around us and spread the truth. If you are one of the people that has gone to a predominantly white school your whole life and have come in contact with very few members of the African American community, educating yourself is the absolute best thing you can do. Until you educate yourself on the hardships, all that you have are generalizations, which generalizations are the cause of this entire issue. Removing generalizations can begin the healing and cause the problem to hopefully be obsolete, even though the scars will never leave. Those of you that are sharing petitions, stories, and your deepest condolences, I see you and I thank you. My deepest regards go out to the African American community and I am sorry that a society has been allowed to function this way and leave you with all of these scars. I hope that one day there is a redeemable future with those seeing the error of their ways and a beautiful harmonious society. Until this society comes about, I stand with you and I love you all. Thank you.
Please feel free to send anything you have to say, whether it be criticisms, praises, or questions to my inbox and I will be happy to answer :)
