Skeets is floating around the room above them too. “Yes, it is quite an achievement.”  His eyes lightning up as the movement of the robot was a lot more smooth than it was before. He wraps an arm around Jaime’s shoulders. “I told you all those late nights would be worth it!”

“You always say that, too.” He says with a laugh. Really, Jaime’s just giving him a hard time - if he didn’t believe in what Ted could do, he wouldn’t be working here. “Skeets please do not encourage him, you know how he gets.” Jaime insists, though he can’t help but smile, watching the robot with fascination as it begins to move, clearly a much smoother motion then it had been the last time they ran the test. “Maybe, but I kinda doubt Michael agrees with you.”

“My mom used to let us chase Dad around with nerf guns to get our energy out before bed.. So you could probably just let her play and she’ll be good, maybe put on one of her favorite movies? I’d drop everything if someone put a Pooh Bear movie on..” Walli smiled.

“That sounds like an awesome idea.” Jaime says, his eyes lighting up at the idea of his daughter chasing Bart around all night. God knows they both have the energy for it. “I’ll try the movie tactic, if it doesn’t work I’m sure Bart can wear her out. He’s got more energy than anyone I’ve ever met.”

laura didn’t have any young children. theo was too old for the kids stuff , as was gabby. she wished that when she was a child she was opened up to the world of halloween in small towns. but she didn’t have a normal upbringing and she didn’t partake in the holiday until she was much older. “ hope and pray ? “ laura suggested. 

“I do that every day.” Jaime responds with as serious a tone as he can manage, but it lasts all of two minutes before he laughs and squeezes Isabela’s hand gently. “I’m kidding, she’s an angel most of the time. I usually just thank god we got so lucky with her.”

“You have the best couch out of anyone I know.” Kon realizes maybe that means it was time for a new one himself, but that was something that he’d have to discuss with Tim. His smile fades at the mention of a new look. “What are you talking about?” His expression turning sour for a second as he’s racing to the bathroom.

He sees the drawing on his skin, and makes a face as he starts to wash it off quickly. He steps out of the bathroom, seeing the little girl outside of the doorway giggling. “You’re quite the artist, I’m impressed.” He ends up picking Isabela up, carrying her into the kitchen. “I found the master artist, you got talent here, Jaime.’

“We bought it just for you, hermano.” He says with a cheesy grin, no doubt in his mind Kon will know he’s poking fun at him mostly. It’s easy to do after so many years of friendship. He doesn’t answer Kon’s question, letting out a laugh as he watches the other rush off to check just what’s on his face.

He probably shouldn’t have let his daughter have so much free reign with something like this, but he knows Kon. He knows the man would never get mad at Isabela for what really is a bit of harmless fun. “Oh I know, she’s going to be world famous for her face drawings some day.” He can’t help but smile as he glances over at his daughter happily perched in Kon’s arms.

But Bart figured as much as he swooped into scoop their daughter up and cradle her in between the two of them. ❛ now you’re trapped! ❜  

Jaime can’t help the bright smile that spreads across his face at the sight of his husband and their daughter. It never matters how much he hates mornings, how much he intends to sleep in - he’ll always wake up for his little family. “Oh no, daddy’s got you trapped! What’re you gonna do now?” He says with a grin as he pushes himself up just enough to be able to tickle his now-trapped daughter, and her immediate giggles are music to his ears.

bucky took the other’s hand and shook it, gently, given that it was his metal hand – knowing it was a little intimidating for some people. “how long’ve you been married?”

The metal arm is pretty interesting to see and the engineer in Jaime wants to know more about it, though he knows it’s way beyond his capabilities. “Eight years now? Still one of the best days of my life.”

“HEY JAIME, come over here. I promise this is really interesting.” Ted says out of excitement more than anything else. He pulls the goggles up off his eyes to rest on the top of his head, smiling back at the younger male. “It’s finally working!” He gestures to the robot in front of him, with a bright expression. 

“You always say that, Mr. Kord.” Jaime says immediately, though he heads over to Ted’s workstation anyway, more curious about his work than he’d care to admit. He gives Ted a lot of shit but the truth is he owes the man a lot, he’ll never forget that. “What - no way, really?” He watches as the robot moves through the motions with much more precision than it had last time, and he can’t help but smile. “I gotta admit, that’s pretty cool.”

“I’m awake!” Kon shouts, but he doesn’t exactly remember falling asleep on his friend’s couch. He must have been just that tired while he was over the previous night. He hopes they don’t mind. However in his attempt to get up he almost falls off the furniture, but catches himself with his flight ability before then. He floats through the house until he finds Jaime, and stops, landing on his feet. “I’m sorry I totally fell asleep, man.”

Jaime figured it was best not to disturb his friend when Kon fell asleep on the couch. He probably needed the rest for one reason or another so he was happy to let the man sleep while he worked on dinner. Unfortunately for Kon, though, Isabela did not agree - Jaime can see her out of the corner of his eye, drawing a moustache and a pair of glasses on the man’s face and scurrying away with a stifled giggle as Kon’s eyes begin to open.

Chuckling softly at Kon’s shout, Jaime glances over to see the man float over to the kitchen, raising an eyebrow at his appearance. “Hey you’re fine, don’t worry about it. You’re always welcome for a nap on my couch, hermano.” He grins and turns his attention back to the meal simmering away on the stove. “Isabela gave you a new look, by the way.”

“You are going to have more energy than your dad by the time you get through all of this candy.” Jaime says with a chuckle as he pokes his daughter’s nose gently. Trick or treating had turned out to be a fantastic idea - Isabela had a chance to get a whole lot of candy and find some new friends, and Jaime had a chance to explore more of the town. Win win, right? He straightens up, still holding his daughter’s hand in his, shifting his attention to the other. “Thank god Bart’s got the ability to keep up with a hyperactive four year old, or we’d have a real problem on our hands. Any tips for candy-fuelled kids?”

Training with Jaime is a rush to say the least, and Cassie was never one to give up. She did shrink, zipping around the room in a mix of zig zags and large arcs. There was a reason she chose dragonfly wings, because their wings allowed for the fastest possible flight. Out running the blasts weren’t an option, and man did they pack a punch, “what’d I say about underestimating me, huh?” and she reached into her side pouch for a very unlikely option: her fidget spinner. Without thinking much and out of many other options, she puts a blue Pym Particle Disc on it, and throws it in his direction, immediately twisting in air to fly the other way, hopefully out of reach of his blasts, but aiming to blast a couple stingers ( non-harmful for training, though normally they’d knock him flat, now they just felt akin to a BB gun pellet ) into his back.

Jaime has seen some weird stuff over the years, there’s no doubt about it. He’s seen heroes who shrink and grow so he’s not completely taken by surprise, and while she has definitely shown him somme new moves he’s feeling pretty confident about their little advanced sparring session. “I”m not underestimating you, but - oh, what the f -” He’s definitely not ready for an expanding fidget spinner to launch at him and he just manages to dodge, somersaulting out of the way only to be taken by surprise by the sound of something being shot his way. Instinct kicks in immediately as a shield forms on his arm and he twists around just in time to block, and even though the impact is largely absorbed by the armour he still feels it and he knows that wouldn’t have been pretty. “Not bad, you definitely know how to surprise someone!”

“you ever planned a wedding? i ain’t even planning it and it’s stressing me out.” bucky sighed, running a hand through his hair. “yeah – been in worse. thanks for the solid, though. have we met?”

“Oh yeah. I know what that’s like. Happiest day of your life, but the months before it? Nightmare.” Jaime says with a laugh, nodding his head. Planning their wedding had been an... interesting experience. “Hey, no problem. I don’t think so - Jaime.” He holds a hand out to the man, an offer to shake his hand.

“I know, i just don’t get to see you enough, do i?” it was a trick she learned with Thea’s hyper episodes, how enveloping a wound-up child in a hug was sometimes enough to make them laugh themselves out. also a little easier when the child wasn’t a speedster. she laughs with the girl planting a kiss on the top of her head as she feels her go a little more limp in her arms, “Ew, you don’t want coffee, it’s just bean juice,” she teases Bella with a light laugh before looking up at Jaime, “one bean juice for me, please. I teach in a couple hours,” 

Jaime always wanted their daughter to be close to the team, to the people who helped him become who he is as a hero, not just his family back home. They’re all family to him - and to Bella, too. “You really don’t, we’ve gotta do something about it.” Jaime says with a chuckle, though he’s not truly upset. He knows Artemis lives a busy life. “Aunty Arty’s right, it’s bean juice. You shouldn’t want that. Juice instead, honey.” Jaime agrees as he takes out a couple of mugs for their coffee, and a glass for his daughter. “So? Have you guys picked a date for the wedding yet? I haven’t seen an invitation, I’m starting to worry.”

“I know it’s a little silly, I suppose, but unfortunately yes.” Kurt’s tail drooped and loosely wrapped around his left leg. He’d been asking for help for a while, and though he’s anxious to find the hat, he appreciates (and is more so grateful) that Jaime is taking the time to help him locate it. “I’ve checked in the usual places at home and all around my office, but I haven’t found it yet.

“One of my ex students from the Institute gave it to me not long before they graduated. It holds a lot of sentimental value.”

“Hey, it means something to you. I’m not here to judge.” Jaime assures the other quickly, feeling a little guilty for making it seem like a silly request. It’s important for some reason and he might not get it but he’s happy to help the guy out anyway. “Alright, well - when was the last time you wore it? We can start there and work backwards.”

His expression softens a little as Kurt explains, letting out a soft sigh. “Makes sense. Don’t worry, we’re going to find it.”

bucky snapped out of his daze when he felt the other stop him, eyes widening as he let out a small ‘oof!’. bucky took a minute to adjust before he broke out in a small, shocked laugh. “thank you, man…though i reckon i would’ve done more damage to the vehicle.” he held up his metal arm, a small chuckle adding to it.

“No problem. Seemed like you were in your own world there.” Jaime says with a nervous laugh, lowering his arm slowly when he’s satisfied things are safe again. “Maybe yeah, but I kinda doubt everyone on the bus would’ve been too happy. You alright, buddy?”

It’s no secret that Jaime doesn’t like mornings, or waking up early, or being denied his sleep-ins. Something he’s gotten much better about with a child in his life, of course, but that doesn’t mean he can’t still act on it a little. “Mmph.” He groans, scrunching up his face and keeping his eyes closed, though he’s more than aware that Isabela isn’t going to just leave them be. “I don’t know, that’s usually your job so if it’s not you I can’t imagine who it could possibly be.” He answers, opening his eyes just a sliver to look over at Bart. Their daughter, of course, is not at all disheartened by them, still doing her level best to wake them up.

She might think that shrinking is going to give her an edge, but it’s easy enough for Jaime and Khaji Da to track her anyway with the enhanced vision the scarab gives him. “You know that’s not going to help you, right??” Jaime asks with a laugh as the armour on his arms shifts, forming a sonic canon and automatically adjusting to a safe frequency -harmless really, but definitely not pleasant to anyone at any size. “Just admit it, I’ve got you beat!”

Jaime can’t help but smile as the woman envelopes his daughter in a hug, causing Bella to finally stop and settle. “She always loves your visits.” Jaime reminds Artemis - though he has no doubt she remembers anyway - and makes his way over to the kitchen so he can get something for her to drink. “Did you want a coffee or something?” Before there’s any chance for Artemis to respond he hears a muffled Can I have some coffee?! from his daughter, and Jaime can’t help but chuckle. “Maybe next year, mija.”
