when i was three or four years old i whacked a fellow preschooler in the head with a half-full plastic mini bucket of sand. (he was fine)

we were playing in the sandbox and in my young child lack of emotional regulation i didn't like how he had decided to play with me. so i hit him with a sandy bucket. i was put in timeout and informed by my teacher that we all had chosen to play together, that this was another variant on the dreaded sharing where you couldn't just control how people played, how you had to make it a fun space for everyone even if someone was playing differently than how i would prefer it. you had to work together, not brain people with buckets.

true story.

anyway when you're an adult and you're in a fandom space and the goal is peace harmony and everyone having fun, you sometimes have to take a step back and remind yourself that you are an adult, this is all for fun, and we. do. not. brain. people. with. buckets.

even if that bucket is looking MIGHTY tempting.

Just realized that the reason I love making friends on tumblr is because it’s exactly how you make friends on the playground as a six year old. No, I don’t know their name but they love mermaids too and built this awesome sand castle. No, I don’t know their age but their imaginary cheetah is friends with mine. You like this show? You like this character?? You can sing the theme song really loud??? Here is a flower crown. Here is a juice box. You can share my time and I might never see you again but part of you stays in my soul forever. In my mind we’re still on the swing set and the sky is blue and nothing will ever be wrong again.

this morning the United Nations Human Rights Council voted on a resolution calling for a ban on arms sales to Israel and the resolution passed. two Israeli border points opened for aid routes (they were supposedly open? lmao), Biden is calling for an immediate ceasefire, last night was the first without air attacks on Gaza.. the killing of seven foreign aid workers shook the world apparently, but oh god how late. the journey to recognising genocide for some seems to avoid acknowledging the humanity of thousands of Palestinians who have been murdered
