He heaved a breath. A useless one, but something he did for the sake of Billy. It was unnerving to be around silence when they shared space. So David consciously made the effort to breathe even if he didn’t have to when he wasn’t talking.
“It wasn’t your fault. But it doesn’t matter now. Neil made a mistake and you’re safe now. That’s all that matters.” The boys had been excited to see him again when they had come back. To welcome him back into the fold of their little brotherhood. And David had become all the more possessive and protective of him.
“He still thinks we are playing with our food…” David grunted, “he can get fucked for all I care.”
*plops a baby hedgehog on his head*
“You… tend to like shot that draws blood huh?” A lazy snort.

He growled softly. Not a threatening sound but rather one of malcontent. “All you ever had to do was call… any sign. Anything at all and we would have come. “ David turned to press his face into Billy’s neck. Where normally the sound of someone’s heartbeat left his fangs aching, this time it reassured him. Alive and well.
“Never should have let you go to begin with…”

Ah but he was soft for this one. There was something about Billy Hargrove that eased him from his usual self. Calmed him into something from his past. He was nothing like the last Billy he’d known, but maybe it was that? He didn’t know.
“I did say I’d come no matter what if you needed me…” he murmured, “and I’m going to make sure you have everything you want or need here.”

“Cheeky,” he huffed, reaching out to stroke over bristly quills. “We will get along just fine I’m sure Frankie. Just don’t eat anything questionable…” David’s blue eyes flicked up towards Billy, “Im glad you’re treating yourself.”

David flashed his own teeth at them, puffing softly in amusement. “You’re lucky you’re cute yourself,” of course there was no ire in his words, and he rolled his blue eyes in a good natured amusement.
“Yeah he’s cute.”

David glanced over at her, " he was just a kid. He never should have gotten himself involved in that. But there's only so much you can do. Can't help someone who wont help themselves. And he was still young..." He folded his fingers together, " I realized too late what was happening between him and that boy." David had his regrets with the boy but he was going to make up for it. He had to. Billy deserved that much. " The man deserves to die," David mused, furrowing his brows a little. He tilted his head to one side and arched a brow at her, " I would in an instant if I didn't think Billy would resent me for it. As it stands my brothers are going to be keeping him... occupied for now." David reached over and he mussed her red hair. " Sorry you had to deal with it kid. But we'll get him out of this and you can mend your relationships with him." David gave her a smile, crooked but not vicious. Not cruel. " We'll get him out of this. I promise..." They had to. David hadn't been there when he should have been and now he wanted to fix this. To help Billy through whatever monster had it's claws in him. He wouldn't leave until then.

Nothing changed in Santa Carla. The surf was great. The days were warm. The nights were lively, and the pictures of those gone missing left to weather in the blazing California sun continued to appear on a monthly basis. No one ever found them, but most people had plenty of ideas what happened to them all the same. David didn't mind though. It was home, and the monotony of every day life was broken by the ability to be an absolute thorn in the side of the people that called the sea side town home. But there were just some things that caught his attention more than others. Like the reappearance of one shit father of the decade, Neil Hargrove, showing his face on the boardwalk again.
It was a particularly lovely night. Not terribly humid, cool, and with a blanket of stars cast over the beautiful sea. David had been having a great evening. Fresh off a hunt with their hunger sated, they had taken to the boardwalk to entertain themselves. There was always something to do, someone to bother. Even if it came down to bothering Max! Nothing could ruin his night! They had sat themselves on the edge of the concrete wall, drinking from dark bottles prefilled for their enjoyment, and watched the people on the beach. "Hawkins was a shit hole," A mans voice drew his attention. Or perhaps it wasn't the voice but rather the location. There had been a singular correspondence from the boy that had left their company. A postcard. William Hargrove Hawkins IN
It had contained only a few lines to inform them they were 'staying'. Nothing more. David had been content with that at least. But just now, this conversation had his full attention. "People disappearing. Murders. You name it. " David had stopped drinking from his bottle, elbows poised on his knees, and blue eyes staring hard at the back of the mans head. WILLING him to turn. Instincts coiling in his gut like a diamond back ready to strike. "My son lost his mind. Went missing. I had to come back to tell his mother." It was like watching the sun rise in slow motion. It lit fire in his gut as the man turned his head to gaze wistfully out towards the sea. He'd seen Neil Hargrove only once. The night he'd gone to see Billy before they left. Now, seeing the man here and hearing that Billy was not with him only stirred the coals in him into an inferno. David felt his fangs ache and a growl bubbled in his throat. It must have been enough to draw Dwaynes attention, for the dark haired man on his right motioned at his eyes. David blinked a few times until the gold had settled back to blue. What came next happened quickly. When Neil and the woman had strode away into the dark, they'd caught him unaware. Back to their lair where they kept him sedate enough to cooperate. Information came easily from a thrall, and as much as David wanted to rip him to pieces then and there, more pressing matters had reared their head. "Be safe," Dwayne frowned at him. " Keep him contained. I want him here when I get back, " David offered quietly, blue eyes meeting Dwaynes obsidian gaze. The other nodded and they parted ways. David picked his path across the country in search of a blue eyed blonde he'd made a promise to a few years before. If Billy was alive David would find him. @puppetoffthehook

That smirk. David, David. Hebrew, meaning "beloved". Maybe those dreams came from a misplaced sense of comfort - again, she felt trapped inside the horrors of being a girl, in that hazy and delicate reality with an unbearable sense of loneliness lurking beneath. Maybe she wanted to run wild, to let her crudest passions take over. Way to go, flirting with a vampire you only know through your delirious dreams. Something must be wrong with her, she had always felt that way. She truly hated herself sometimes. She looked away from him for a moment. "Yeah, right?", she laughed. "You almost made me want to be good for you", she chuckled. Ah, the bitterness, the need to be known and wanted. She stared back at him, holding his gaze again, regaining some courage. After all, he was not to blame for her own failures and fantasies. "So, what about you? I feel like I've been oversharing, I hope I haven't made you uncomfortable. I would love to hear about your dreams, if you are willing to share them", she smiled at him, and this time the smile reached her eyes. He was quite an intimidating figure in front of her, draped in black leather. How nonchalant he looked, lazily looking over her. Yeah, she really liked him, she decided. She also envied his strength, his freedom. And she knew this was probably the stupidest thing she had ever done. //// OOC: thank you for interacting with me, I have no idea where am I going with this but it's being super fun :)
David pressed his lips a bit and he tilted his head a little. She wanted to know about him, and to be fair he didn't know what he was supposed to tell her. His life was long and far away. He'd done a lot in his time and seen even more. He could write novels on it if he wanted. " Dreams? " he mused quietly and tipped his head back. " Im not sure you would want to know my dreams." Perhaps they shouldn't have dreams any more, their rest deep and unyielding. But David still has some. " They are far from pleasant," he murmured. David was a spoiled man at best most days. He got whatever he pleased from his sire. If the desire struck him to ask. And if getting it from his father wasn't an option then he'd find a way to get it himself. But being spoiled didn't mean that his past went away. And his past wasn't a pleasant one.

David didn't find anything terribly worrying in the area, outside the natural order, he settled himself on the porch steps and stretched his legs out. The blonde propped himself up with his elbows on his knees. No sign of a Demogorgon or demodog. Good enough for him. When she'd let the others know they were safe and it was clear, David watched the girl curiously. She looked like she'd put on a lot of responsibilities from the last time he'd seen her. He could see the weight of it on her shoulders. In her eyes. A girl so young should have to face these things. Not any more. " I did," he nodded, " to remember us by..." David pressed his lips a little bit, brows creasing as he thought back to it all. It had been a sly meeting, stood outside the boys bedroom window while they said their goodbyes. Max had warned him not to involve himself in the things that mortals did. Not so deeply at least. If the boys father wished to take him away there was nothing he could do to stop it. David knew well enough Billy only had his father, no matter how cruel the man was. And maybe he was hoping that getting away would stop the mans violence. " Billy got in with some shitty people and at the time it was complicated for me. We aren't supposed to sway people unless it's for our own gain. Mostly to eat. And we didn't want that for him. So we tried to be there when he was partaking. Tried to pull him away from it of his own will but I think what happened at home made things difficult."

He hummed. “Vampire,” he reminded with that sly grin plastered in place. There were probably a lot of things he could do that would surprise her, but for the time being this would have to be it. David gathered himself up when she was secure, straightening with ease.
“Alright kid,” he murmured, “Hold on tight.” The power it took to fly was usually an explosive one, or at least that was how they tended to use it. But with a mortal passenger that wasn’t going to happen. So, he was careful, springing upward and propelling them high enough not to be easily seen. Hawkins looked sad compared to the bright lights of Santa Carla. Small and asleep. Unassuming. But knowing there was something brewing under this town brought some kind of excitement. The shitty part of it was that it had taken Billy and David wasn’t keen on that choice at all.
They navigated their way to the outer edges of the forest where the cabin was hidden. At some point David had wrapped her in his jacket for fear she might freeze. When they had both feet back on the ground, David settled and released his hold on her.
“We will have plenty of time before they get here,” he glanced around, “any creepy crawlies I should know about?”

David hummed. Pleased enough that he'd be able to check things over before all hell broke loose. Call it a force of habit. That he should need to ensure a locations security before allowing himself to relax into a situation. And if the world was hemorrhaging creatures from some alternate reality then he certainly couldn't trust it to be safe at all. Certainly he existed in a space that stretched the seams of realities tapestry already but this put it fit to bursting. With the others already gathering up to discus and give him a head start, he glanced down at the girl who had agreed to join him. David led her out, as though he practically owned the place, Which he supposed if they were going by technicality he did in a way. Top of the food chain, blah blah, welcomed in, blah. in the safety of the night, David glanced along the silent street. "Alright kid," He crouched down, offering his back to her, bows lifting as he grinned almost boyishly, no threat of fangs in sight. "Think you can navigate on the fly?" He asked easily, " you're gonna have to hold on. I didn't drive here and short of hotwiring a car this is how we're going...."
