my favorite thing about navigating fanfiction is finding a really good one and being all “oh boy this was good, I hope they have more!” and literally every other story they’ve ever written was for like Miami Vice

How do fanfic writers feel knowing that people might have been masturbating to their work?

"This fic is literally just porn, why do you care about the quality of the editing" unfortunately, both my brain and my dick have strong opinions about verb tenses.

what ppl defending kids on ipads don’t seem to understand is that there are other ways to keep kids occupied. my mom had a whole bag full of little toys and games for me to play with while waiting in lines at disney world. once your kid is like 7 or 8 they can read a book. they can color. or they can literally just sit there and imagine things. i did that a lot as a kid.

Honestly part of the problem with this obsession with only consuming unproblematic fiction is that people are less likely to acknowledge when something is harmful. If you so much as say hey this one joke in this one episode was offensive fans will write you an essay on why it wasn’t. Because they’ve created a world view where this is basically accusing them of being a bad person who has committed an unforgivable sin.

FMA is fascinating because there aren't many works about what it means to be an atheist and a heretic to a god that you can not only see, but who has personally snatched body parts off of your living body and made fun of you for it.

Actual quote was like, "He should have been dancing at the Chaumière, as young people have a moral obligation to do."
One more late contribution to Barricade Week. I think M. Gillenormand is one of my favorite characters from the book. He is not a very good guardian, but everything he does is so funny. I had to pause at the end of this chapter to draw this.

The problem with commercial F/M romance is that it's written by the most heterosexual women alive and reading it you feel yourself slowly suffocating from the Gender of it all like a fish in a eutrophying lake. And what we actually need as a culture is F/M written by insane bisexuals violently allergic to heteronormativity

it's too late. i've already represented you as the cynical drunkard who is extraordinarily ugly, and me as the gloriously beautiful revolutionary leader. and the cynic worships the revolutionary but he hates the cynic, btw. but it's okay because once the cynic professes himself to be a part of their cause, the revolutionary takes his hand and dies side by side with him. yep, it's the revolutionary who gives his permission when the cynic is faced with belief at death's door. all he had to do was believe and the revolutionary welcomed him, and their deaths spurred on future revolutions that ultimately achieved their dreams. btw i lied, it's not too late. take my hand. we can make a better world together. the ugly thing was metaphorical anyway.
