what were the vibes on bbc radio 1 in terms of fanservice/shipping dan and phil? i mean was it encouraged by forces who weren’t dnp, as sometimes happens with producers in media? or it just wasn’t A thing?

it's hard to explain because the other djs definitely did make jokes about them

and obviously the dan vs. phil challenges were sometimes a bit shippy/touchy (scratch and sniff challenge/wrapping each other in cling film like hello) but i don't think the producers specifically wanted to veer into anything that could be conveyed as any kind of actual queerness because even 10 years ago it was still pretty taboo for traditional media. but like they were Very aware that them together drove views and they definitely did put them in Situations
