This scene in Endgame was one of the things that has fucked me up the most. Not saying what happens, but the touching of the foreheads, (which is a sign of bonding and closeness, recognition and trust), was so so unbelievably heartbreaking. All the things that formed the beautiful relationship that Clint and Nat had were felt here. (And I’ll honestly never forgive Whedon or whoever the hell it was for screwing up the relationship back in AoU). But whether you believe there was a romantic thing or not, you can’t deny the bond and love they shared. I think Jeremy and Scarlett have amazing chemistry and they both deserved more in regards to their story and history.

The year is 2012. The Avengers all live on their personally designed floors in Stark Tower. They have movie nights together for team bonding. Thor eats all of the pop-tarts in the communal kitchen. Everything is fine and nothing hurts. All is well.

Also can we please just talk about VIRGINIA FUCKING PEPPER POTTS???!!!

Who has been with us since the beginning. Who has been in love with Tony Stark for over a decade and has never once put up with any of his bullshit. 

Who has had to watch Tony nearly die in almost EVERY SINGLE movie that she’s been in.

Who KNEW that the moment Tony told her he’d invented time travel that was it. That the ticking clock on the rest of their lives had started and that these were going to be their last days together. That he almost definitely wouldn’t come back to her safe and sound.

And yet she STILL told him to go and fight. Because she loved him so much that she knew he’d be living a half-life if he knew he could have saved his friends. She’d already seen him lose sleep for years and couldn’t bear to see him live that way for the rest of their lives. 

Pepper Potts who, in the end, flew into battle in a suit of armour beside her husband. 

Pepper Potts who had to watch the love of her life die and still kept her composure and kept her cool, choosing to let him know she and their daughter would be okay without him so that the last thing he would feel was peace and the last thing he’d ever see was her smiling face. It wasn’t until after he was gone that she let herself break down.

“You’re going to kill yourself, Tony,” she once said to him right at the very start in 2008. “I’m not going to be a part of it.”  11 years later, she’s the one who found the strength to help him die and hold his hand while it happened. 

Seriously, this woman owns my heart and made me WEEP last night.

Peter didn’t know Tony had a kid until after he died.

Did Peter meet her for the first time at her father’s funeral?

Tony and Steve’s ends

ENDGAME SPOILERS

I’ve seen so much negativity about Tony and Steve’s endings in Endgame that I sort of wanna address because I think a lot of it is misplaced.

Steve:

* It is perfectly within his character for him to go back to the love of his life. The MCU, with both all three Captain America films and some of the Avengers films, have signalled this for literally eight years now.

* The timelines are not, as some people think, fucked up, nor does this mean that Steve will allow his best friend to suffer. The time travel in this movie creates alternate timelines. There’s a timeline where Loki escaped in 2012. A timeline where Thanos disappears in 2014. There’s also a timeline where Peggy Carter marries Steve Rodgers rather than her husband in the main timeline. In that timeline, Steve presumably blows Hydra’s cover in SHIELD and saves his best friend.

Tony:

* I get why people are upset about Tony dying after he has a family at last. But I think it’s probably the most realistic and accurate to the character of any of the ends. Tony Stark survived hell in Afghanistan and now wants to protect the world. He succeeded a few times and then failed in the most ultimate fashion, losing someone who was like a son to him.

* He then spends five years rebuilding his life, has a daughter etc. Presumably, Thanos’ snap has really killed off anyone’s interest in significantly conquering the Earth, so there aren’t really any threats.

* Then Tony sees an opportunity to actually save the world and his ‘son’. It’s absolutely within his character to go back and try. Hell, Pepper even broke up with him at one point in their relationship because she knew he’d never let go.

* And that’s exactly the point. Tony has tried to let go, but he always gets sucked back in. It’s a flaw or perhaps a positive in his character. It’s something he knows, that Pepper knows, that most people know. The inevitable outcome of that character trait was his death. Even if he survived this conflict, then he’d go with the Avengers on the next battle, and the next, until he died in battle. He was never going to retire and live till old age. That just wasn’t him after Afghanistan and New York. 

* The most wonderful part of Tony’s arc is that even though his death was inevitable, he still spent five years being somewhat happy. He had a family. He had a kid. It was beautiful, and while it’s heartbreaking that they lost him, that was always an inevitability.
