#This is one of my favorite scenes ever#Bc it's the moment where Catra can't hide from her lies anymore. It all starts crumbling down bc the mission is over#The mission that was supposed to make her happy and fulfilled#And all she feels is empty

"getting laid" is very hot and sexy. "getting off"? great news as well. so you would think "getting laid off" would be wonderful news for your penis. but alas

I think something many readers completely misunderstood when the books first came out, and even now, is that Katniss IS like other girls. She’s not some solitary strong independent woman™ who’s not like the other girls. She very much is the other girls.
She’s shy and vulnerable and judgemental and inexperienced and embarrassed. She loves flowers (dandelions!) and pretty things and fashion and dresses. She would have music and singing in her life more if she wasn’t so traumatised and stunted. She has crushes and she’s very romantic, if we go by her own descriptions of Peeta and what she notices from her parents. She’s metaphorically (and sometimes literally inside her own mind) twirling her hair and kicking her feet and giggling any time she’s around him. She’s such maternal and protective instincts for Prim, Peeta, Rue and countless others throughout the series. She cares for people a lot and she values community and friendship and love. She wants softness, she wants cuddles, she wants her hair played with, she wants to look good, she wants to wear cute and fun things, she wants to be kissed and loved, she wants to go frolicking in fields of dandelions.
She is just like other girls and the tragedy is that she’s never able to fully just be a girl.
#Katniss my beloved#People misunderstand the tragedy of your lost identity#And mistake your trauma self for who you are

i kinda love how catra always ends up trying to find comfort in her prisoners. by habit and nurture, catra was not able to appear vulnerable in the open. and it is almost impossible to appear smaller than a prisoner who is caged and weakened. so she goes to them, to drop pretense and allow herself to feel vulnerable. in shadow weaver - to reaffirm catra's authority then when she starts losing control. now in glimmer - to reaffirm catra's humanity, what with her being the only other etherian in this glorified tomb of forgotten civilisation.

Huntara herself is already such a pleasure of a character, but she gets even more interesting as a way to explore Adora. For one, she’s the first character we see adora’s explicit attraction to, indicating what she actually values in her partners (spoiler: it’s strength) and how she acts around them, being initiative, being competitive. And this also ties to Adora’s own self image, she is attracted to her, but also aspire to be her, which makes total sense considering adora’s pride and ego. The issue of age seemed nonexistent, at least in Adora’s mind, because she had never been seen or treated as a child and so always regarded herself as a fellow adult. Also huntara unlocked a side of Adora she kept hidden so tightly during her time with the princesses, the horde-born violent gritty side that would rather punch and butt heads and steal weapons than fight nobly and prettily, the part that, like she said, fit perfectly with the crimson waste. I loved seeing that part to be honest, we very rarely get to see Adora’s true uninhibited unrepressed self.
