Skift Take: We appreciate this honest take on this from Arnold. It's not everyday we see a brand admit that it's not always going to get it right, but it's always going to forge ahead where others fear to tread.

5 steps for a quick and dirty (but awesome) content marketing strategy
5 steps for a quick and dirty (but awesome) content marketing strategy
SPONSORED:
This sponsored post is produced by Salesforce.
Not long ago, it was acceptable to refer to content marketing as a buzzword. It has since acquired its own subset of buzzwords (as outlined in this LOL-able post by Contently Editor-in-Chief Joe Lazauskas). But businesses are increasingly making content marketing a core tenet of their marketing strategies — and for small businesses…

Homeless people are designing your next favorite T-shirt
When Matthew Wayne was eight years old, he and his family went to a San Diego art gallery showcasing work exclusively from homeless youth.
One painting in particular caught his eye — the artist’s name also happened to be Matthew. And then it hit him: There was a boy out there, just like him, but who didn’t have the same advantages, who didn’t have a home.
Almost 15 years later, it inspired him to take action. With two fellow seniors at San Diego State University, Wayne cofounded Art Without a Roof, a social enterprise that works with disadvantaged artists to create sustainable apparel and items featuring their art. The company’s tagline sums it up well: Threads for Change. Read more…

Hotels Embrace Mind-Body Perks to Keep Guests Healthy
A Stay Well room at the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas, NV. MGM Grand
Skift Take: Staying fit and eating well on the road is important to a growing number of travelers, causing airports, hotels and spas to create better options for those seeking to integrate healthy habits into their journeys.
— Jason Clampet
Recently, we came out with a report in our Skift Trends series, Health and Wellness in the Travel Industry. Below is an extract.
Get the full report here to get ahead of this trend.
But health goes beyond breaking a sweat, which is why some hotels are focused on creating an overall sense of well-being by focusing on mind-body amenities.
Take the MGM Grand. The hotel’s “Stay Well” rooms feature showers with Vitamin C-infused water, air purification, light therapy to reduce the effects of jet lag and mattresses made without harmful VOCs or toxic chemicals and off-gases. 1 Hotels, an eco-luxury brand, provides guests with in-room meditation videos, while Westin takes its wellness programming beyond fitness with podcasts including “Switching Off From Work” and “Getting Ready For Sleep.”
And it should come as no surprise that in a world where one can download music and movies at the touch of an app, and have any number of goods delivered to their door in 24 hours, that wellness amenities are now being made available the moment a guest walks through the door.
Oberoi Hotels and Resorts keep its spas open 24/7, while Cheval Blank Randheli in the Maldives offers guests a 20-minute Jet Lag Recovery massage upon check-in. Masseuses at Maya Sayang in Bali, soothe weary feet with a welcome foot massage.
For business travelers, especially, who may not yet be loyal to one brand of hotel, and need this type of service before an early-morning meeting, say, this helps create connection and loyalty, says Kyricos.

An unpowered exoskeleton decreases the energy required for walking
The ability to walk upright is a defining characteristic of humans, one that emerged through a long evolutionary history. It’s not just a matter of the right bones; our muscular, skeletal, and neural systems have evolved to enable our coordinated movements. The nerves allow us to develop a gait that is optimized to minimize the amount of energy necessary by modulating aspects of our movement such as our step length or arm motions.
Even with all that optimization, walking can be tiring; in fact, people expend more energy walking than any other daily activity. As we age, walking often becomes even more difficult. For decades researchers have explored ways to mitigate the energy cost associated with walking—studies that are typically aimed at helping those who are weaker or disabled.
Recently, scientists and engineers started to look at this issue from a new perspective; they questioned whether the human gait is as efficient as it can be. This interdisciplinary research team developed a device that behaves as an unpowered exoskeleton.

Albert Einstein on the Secret to Learning
In 1915 Einstein, who was then 36, was living in wartime Berlin with his cousin Elsa, who would eventually become his second wife. His two sons, Hans Albert Einstein and Eduard “Tete” Einstein were with his estranged wife Mileva in neutral Zurich.
After eight long years of effort his theory of general relativity, which would propel him to international celebrity, was finally summed up in just two pages. Flush with his recent accomplishment, he sent his 11-year-old Hans Albert the following letter, which is found in Posterity: Letters of Great Americans to Their Children.
My dear Albert,
Yesterday I received your dear letter and was very happy with it. I was already afraid you wouldn’t write to me at all any more. You told me when I was in Zurich, that it is awkward for you when I come to Zurich. Therefore I think it is better if we get together in a different place, where nobody will interfere with our comfort. I will in any case urge that each year we spend a whole month together, so that you see that you have a father who is fond of you and who loves you. You can also learn many good and beautiful things from me, something another cannot as easily offer you. What I have achieved through such a lot of strenuous work shall not only be there for strangers but especially for my own boys. These days I have completed one of the most beautiful works of my life, when you are bigger, I will tell you about it.
I am very pleased that you find joy with the piano. This and carpentry are in my opinion for your age the best pursuits, better even than school. Because those are things which fit a young person such as you very well. Mainly play the things on the piano which please you, even if the teacher does not assign those. That is the way to learn the most, that when you are doing something with such enjoyment that you don’t notice that the time passes. I am sometimes so wrapped up in my work that I forget about the noon meal. Also play ringtoss with Tete. That teaches you agility. Also go to my friend Zangger sometimes. He is a dear man.
Be with Tete kissed by your
Papa.
Regards to Mama.
