“You set my soul alight.”
I have nothing deep, nor witty to say. I’m fueling my obsession with the insane dynamics of this couple.
(Gonna be daydreaming about the size of Azriel’s hands for the rest of my life)

It’s especially frustrating when people say things like, “Gwyn can’t be a main character—she’s just a side character,” or “She was only in one book,” or “Elriel has more scenes, so that must mean it’s endgame.” As if quantity of scenes alone decides the direction of a story. If that were the case, Feylin would’ve been endgame. So would Chaol/Aelin. Or Chaol/Nesryn. We’ve seen again and again that early page time doesn’t guarantee lasting romance—growth and narrative do.
gwyn haters need stop dismissing her potential just because she entered the story later. Elain naturally appears in more scenes—she’s Feyre’s sister, part of the original circle, and her transformation into Fae was a major event for Feyre in WAR. Her presence is expected, and necessary, in that context and it is honestly a little weird that she doesn't appear more? Because you would assume the blood sister of the MC who impacted the MCs journey would have more weight in the story but NOPE, now contrast this to Gwyn who only in one book has been set up for futher plot and weighed more in the books similar to yrene.
Gwyn's limited page time doesn’t equal limited relevance. She was introduced in Silver Flames and made an immediate impact. Her dynamic with Azriel felt fresh and layered, filled with tension, humor, and a real sense of mutual healing. The fact that so many people felt connected to her—and to Gwynriel—after one book says a lot.
And then there's the bonus chapter, it’s controversial, but it's the only hint by author give to us. The way Azriel refers to Elain as “the third” and admits to actively avoiding her—those aren't signs of someone pining for love. When Rhys intervenes and tells him no, Az walks away angry… but that’s it. This is the same Azriel who once said, “Chain me to a tree” if it meant fighting in the war. He’s not someone who quietly backs down when something truly matters to him. If this was a love he couldn’t live without, he would’ve pushed harder.
Sure, people say he was still mad the next day but being upset with Rhys doesn’t automatically mean he was in love with Elain. It just means he didn’t like being told what to do, especially about something personal.
Ultimately, it’s not about who’s had more scenes or appeared in more books. It’s about what those scenes say. And Gwyn and Az’s connection—no matter how recent—feels intentional, emotionally grounded, and brimming with possibility.
One book gave us enough to believe in that potential. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Truly think the e/riels are trying to recruit new gullible readers to their ship by 100% lying about Lucien’s and Azriel’s narrative.
-A few months ago we had the lie that Lucien laughed at Jurian’s rape joke about Elain and Illyrians. When the text clearly states that it was only through years of control that kept Lucien from attacking him.
-A few days ago we had someone claiming Lucien is an abuse enabler and was trying to kidnap Feyre from the night court to return her to her abuser.
-The other day I came across a lie saying Azriel was excited about buying Elain a solstice gift but Rhys told him not to, when truthfully Azriel asked “are we suppose to buy the sisters presents?” SISTERS not Elain. Once again Azriel lumps Elain into the sisters.
-A few weeks ago I came across someone commenting that the name Elain has Hebrew origins just like Azriel, which is completely false. Elain’s name can be translated into Hebrew like any name can but it has no origins in Hebrew. And I searched for 2 days for this, and the only search results that popped up that showed Elain is Hebrew were ACOTAR Reddit and Tumblr posts.
I fully understand wanting to endorse your ship to new readers but please don’t lie and create false narratives. Please don’t ruin good characters just make new gullible readers think the worst of them. There is no reason to destroy another male’s good moral character to try and promote your own male. There is plenty of canon proof that Elriel is possible. And yes I admit there is canon proof that Elain and Azriel could be endgame, its not strong proof but it’s on the page, and that doesn’t mean I think they are. Because the parallel character storytelling that SJM is doing for Elain and Lucien is just as important to their endgame possibility. Plus SJM is doing a lot to keep us out of Elain’s PoV and to me that is a huge sign that what is being said on page by her is not matching what she feels internally.

The shadow brave enough to face the sunlight and curl around Azriel's neck is the same one that darted out to dance with Gwyn’s breath. You can’t convince me otherwise. We're gonna name it Toothless because they give off the same energy. 😌

“Azriel staying away from Elain is just like Cassian staying away from Nesta—it’s romantic tension and proof of endgame.”
Let’s use basic logic here and look at the actual dynamics in the books.
Cassian stayed away from Nesta because Nesta was the one pushing him away. The romantic lead was the one creating distance. That’s why Cassian respected her space—because she needed time, and she was the one rejecting the connection.
But the moment Nesta began to soften and show interest? Cassian didn’t hesitate. He was there. He fought for her. He never needed to be told to pursue her—he just waited for her to be ready.
Same with Rhysand. Feyre didn’t leap into his arms from the start. She pushed him away too—because she was healing, confused, and torn. But once she made it clear that she wanted him, Rhys didn’t back down. He didn’t let anyone or anything stop him.
Now compare that with Azriel.
Elain has never pushed Azriel away. If anything, she’s shown consistent warmth. Azriel knows she hasn’t chosen Lucien. He knows how she feels. She's made herself available.
And what did Az do?
He accepted Rhys’s warning. He didn’t fight. He didn’t push back. He didn’t even have a plan that extended beyond a sexual fantasy.
Rhys said “no,” and Az walked away—not because Elain rejected him, but because someone else did.
That is not the behavior of a male in love. That is someone willing to surrender the possibility when faced with opposition.
And that contrast matters. It’s not subtle. Cassian and Rhys were held back by the women they loved.
Azriel is held back by himself.
If Elain were his Nesta, or his Feyre, he would’ve fought for her. But he didn’t.
That silence, that compliance, speaks louder than any fan theory or fantasy interpretation.
This isn’t a hidden message. It’s obvious.
It’s right there in the text.
But I get it—some people will twist anything to suit the version of the story where they get to self-insert.At some point, they have to stop rewriting the characters to match their projections and start actually reading the books.

If I got a coin for every time an Elriel shipper bullied a Gwynriel just for existing, I’d be a rich by now. Like, seriously — why is it always “Gwynriel doesn’t even exist in the books,” “Gwynriels only ship them because they hate Elain,” or my personal favorite: “Gwynriels think they’re deep readers while casual readers obviously ship Elriel.”
Like, why are y’all so chronically online and terminally pressed about a ship you claim “doesn’t even exist”? If it’s so nonexistent, why are we living rent-free in your heads 24/7?
This kind of behavior screams insecurity and boredom. Because why else would someone constantly obsess over another ship? Why are you so pressed about what we enjoy? Why are you analyzing our preferences instead of celebrating your own?
It’s giving “my ship is stale so I need to bash yours to feel something.” Baby, find a hobby, touch some grass, read a different book — anything but being terminally online trying to invalidate people who see a different love story than you.
Gwynriel shippers don’t need to justify why we ship what we ship. We see the depth, we see the chemistry, we see him choose her with gentleness and respect — and that’s enough.
So respectfully? Stop orbiting us. We’re not the sun. 🩵✨
