HAPPY MAY THE FOURTH!
Here's something from Rayne and her 'special ship' involving Bode Akuna. I wrote a small series on how they met and stuff before the events of Jedi Survivor. If I get some likes on it, I'll probably post the next parts of it!
LADY AND THE SCOUNDREL: One of Three.
Rayne moved through the bustling streets of Mos Eisley with practiced precision. Her ashen white hair that was usually tied back in a loose braid, fluttered slightly under the desert wind. Her eyes, sharp and green, scanned the crowd from under the hood of her worn cloak. She was on the hunt, following the trail of a target who had been elusive for weeks. The chaos of the spaceport city offered no shortage of places to hide, but Rayne had grown accustomed to this kind of environment. Being a former Jedi, now a bounty hunter had given her a skill set perfectly suited for tracking down dangerous individuals. Her mind was focused on the credits, the ability to eat and buy herself new boots. The ones she had been wearing were nearly on their last leg, but still managed to get the job done even if they were fading around the outside. The leather had been flecking, creasing and squeaked badly. Another she had seen in the market, and she knew that this target would pay the fee handsomely and then some.
As she moved closer to the cantina where her informant was supposed to meet her, she felt a shift in the air. Her heightened senses, a remnant of her Jedi training, told her something…or someone was watching. She paused near a vendor’s stall, feigning interest in the wares while subtly scanning the area. That’s when she spotted him, leaning against a shadowed wall with an air of casual confidence. His piercing eyes met hers from across the street. Rayne’s heart skipped a beat, caught off guard by the intensity of his gaze. Was it nerves? Anxiety? Whatever the case, it took her a moment to find the familiarity, a low curse falling from her lips as she turned to once again focus on a gemstone necklace that pretended to catch her eye, "Damnit…You have got to be kidding me."
Bode Akuna. She recognized the name but had never met him face to face. A fellow bounty hunter, or at least that’s what the whispers suggested. His dark attire blended into the shadows, but the rugged edge in his posture and the ease with which he held his blaster hinted at a deeper complexity. Their eyes locked for a few moments longer than necessary as a strange sensation stirred in Rayne. It was as if she could feel his presence in a way. For the normally guarded woman, this roguishly handsome face had cut through her faster than she cared to admit. His dark hair looked ruffled about his head, giving him a slightly chaotic appearance, one that she hated to admit even to herself that she was deeply attracted to. She let her eyes look away from the other and moved down the seller’s street, picking up random trinkets to get her already slightly troubled mind off the man who had put a slight chink in her emotional armor.
He followed her with his eyes before he pushed off the wall and began to walk toward her, his movements fluid and deliberate. Rayne’s instinct was to remain guarded, but there was something in the way he looked at her that made her lower her defenses—if only slightly. He stopped just a few feet away, a smirk playing on his lips, moving to look at the things on the table beside her, lowering his voice to not draw attention to them in case they were being watched.
"You seem to be following the same trail I am." He said, his voice a low rumble, carrying just enough charm to make her suspicious. He took a few steps further into her space and she glared at him, moving down the large table laden with various hunting knives and other types of blades.
Rayne’s eyes narrowed, but she kept her tone even. "Get over yourself Loverboy, this mark is mine."
Bode chuckled, a sound that made her both irritated and intrigued. "Seems like we’re both after the same prize. How about we work together? Two hunters are better than one."
Rayne was about to refuse when something about his offer and the strange connection she felt to this man made her hesitate. She wasn’t used to feeling drawn to anyone, since being on her own. But Bode… there was something different. Before she could respond, a sudden burst of movement in the crowd caught her attention. Her target had finally shown his face. He had pretended to be a seller of those goods the two bounty hunters had been looking at when he overheard their conversation and he gasped louder than intended, catching their attention.
Without a word, Rayne bolted into action, weaving through the crowd with Bode close behind her. It was as if they were already in sync, their movements fluid and complementary. As they chased down the target, Rayne couldn’t shake the feeling that this wasn’t just another encounter. There was something about him, something dangerous, magnetic, and entirely irresistible.
By the time they had cornered the target in a dark alley, Rayne could feel Bode’s presence beside her like a shadow she couldn’t escape. As they stood there, side by side, their quarry subdued between them, Rayne turned to him, her breath still catching from the chase.
"I don’t need a GODDAMN partner!" She said her voice was softer than she intended. Bode’s smirk widened, his eyes holding hers. "Maybe not. But it seems like fate has other plans."
For the first time in a long while, Rayne found herself wondering if he might be right.

The man would stare at her, blankly at first before regaining his gaze and then cleared his throat before speaking, "Now Ma'am. Unless World War Three is happening anytime soon--" Solomon slid the paper back over to her after neatly returning the files back into the folder, "I don't think there needs to be any need for military grade equipment anytime soon. And I'm a former veteran. Believe me, I'd know."
He'd say calmly, "I unfortunately don't have the jurisdiction t'just let this fly and you are gonna have to wait before considering flying all this stuff in to our town. Not sure what the Chief is gonna say but…" He leaned back in the chair, his weight making it creak a bit as he inhaled deeply. Most of those things that were labeled in the files that he looked over gave him the absolute chills…and not the good type.
While he was sure she meant well with whatever it was she was looking into with her organization, Solomon just didn't feel right, especially with his former service record. He could almost hear the boots on the ground in the back of his mind, pulse picking up, "Y-You're gonna have t'come back later this afternoon when he's available for any kind of meetings. Alright?" He'd say, forcing himself to smile.
Anne fully understood why a former military officer would be curious about the sudden deployment in the area, especially given the highly unusual lineup she had brought with her. Three German Jagdpanzers and her personal vehicle, a Russian T-90, certainly something unusual to see. The files she had submitted officially placed all these vehicles in stand-by status at the moment.
"It’s my pleasure, Detective, and thank you for the welcome. There’s no need for concern about this deployment. My family owns some land here that serves as a temporary station for our vehicles and personnel," she explained.
She then smiled softly. "Although we are indeed here to attend to some classified matters, this lovely place isn’t facing any situation that would require a heavy military presence." Anne truly admired the aesthetics of the area, Wyoming had a unique freshness in the air that she deeply enjoyed.
Her gaze then shifted to the detective, taking in his appearance. Having a former military officer present was actually quite convenient at that moment.
"Detective Solomon, is there anything we can do to assist the police department? One of our directives is to support local authorities whenever possible, and..." She paused, searching through her pockets before pulling out a USB drive containing a digital file. Handing it to him with another respectful bow, she continued, "While there’s no real threat in the area, we intend to conduct exercises and practice sessions during our stand-by period. We have all the necessary electronic signatures for approval, but we understand that you need to be informed about this as well."
She had done a lot of talking, but it was necessary. Now, she just hoped the detective wouldn’t be too overwhelmed by all the information.

He rubbed the back of his neck, looking the man over before trying to dig through the laundry list of things he needed to do while he was here. Solomon's mind was sharp, but today he was a bit preoccupied.
"Oh, yeah uh... Sorry." He reached into his aged jacket pocket and showed the firefighter his badge before an equally aged and beat up notebook would be pulled out of his back pocket. He squints a bit at the writing on the page he had flipped to.
"I'm Detective Solomon Lake and I'm investigating a disappearance and I was told that your department was on the scene of the crime? Won't take but about ten minutes of your time." He says politely.
@bluuebeat liked for a starter !
“ haze—i promise, i won’t be home too late, 'kay ? just order some pizza and keep the doors locked. ”
miguel catches a figure out of the corner of his eye, turning his full gaze towards him. didn’t look like any law enforcement he’d seen around here, but maybe the guy was new. either way…
“ hazel, i gotta go, alright ? love you, bye. ” he slips his phone back into his pocket and turns towards the new arrival. “ kids always gotta call at the worst of times, right ? ” after attempting a small chuckle, he adds, “ what can i do for you, ah- ” he takes a moment to fully observe the man, “ detective ? ”

Military? The mention of it made the former veteran's brow raise as he looked down at the paperwork. The mere sight of the language made his head spin. No WONDER the secretary directed her to him. Solomon almost choked on his coffee as he couldn't help but to square his shoulders and sit up a bit straighter now. The army training from long ago slapping him in the face.
"I'm Detective Solomon Lake. Pleased to meet you Miss. Welcome to Wyoming by the by." He'd say, returning the slight bow with a tilt of his head, throwing the napkins, plastic and brown paper of his breakfast into the trash beside his desk as she spoke. Her explanation caused a chill to crawl up his spine before he continued on.
"Ma'am. I'm not sure why bumblefuck Wyoming would need such a militant presence..." He'd say quietly, dark eyes peering up at her again as he cleared his throat, "I mean...I'm former military myself and I don't see a reason to have all of this in the area." He'd say, "The department didn't receive any news or memos about this. And I've been here for quite a long time to know that." He ended before closing the file and sliding it away from him as he felt the chills from even reading every vehicle name and number there on the paper.
@anneironheiress has startled the Detective!
He's just enjoying his breakfast when the young woman approached his desk, obviously brought by the nosy secretary at the front desk. He sighed a bit, fingers running through his hair as he has to hurry up and swallow what he had in his half empty coffee mug.
"U-Uh yeah? I can I help 'ya?"
