Valerie is the first child of Star Butterfly and Tom Lucitor.

Besides her, they have a younger daughter. Valerie is very similar physically to her grandmother Moon, therefore they were always very close. She viewed Moon as a second mother. One night, Star's parents were visiting the castle, but it was attacked by a criminal group. Moon advised Tom and Star to take care of their daughters, and that she would take care of the intruders. And so she did, she defeated them all. But when the couple went to see her, Moon lost her life alongside her enemies.

That was a severe blow to the family. But Valerie was undoubtedly the most affected. After that, she never said the word 'mom' again. And the kingdom of Mewni, never saw its princess again.
