also, the little flower inclusions as well were so great !! i've always found the language of flowers fascinating, and w the lavender roses, cherry blossoms, pink camellias, and anemones — OOH!! good stuff. and i saw in the note at the bottom that u also worked in like ,, , blooming szns to fit w the plot?? like,, , ur kidding that's so cool omg and so so clever !!!! idk much abt it either, but that really is a clever way to incorporate symbolism into the structure and :') gahh good stuff

Chan sees you every day through the glass display window of his parents’ flower shop.

You pass by at 8 a.m. sharp, he notices. No earlier, no later. You usually also have a to-go cup of iced coffee from the café down the street as you walk with your head high and back straight. Your strides are purposeful and confident, but there’s also a sense of effortless nonchalance, like you could command the attention of a room without lifting a single finger.

Though, there was one time where you appeared 23 minutes later than you normally do—is it creepy that he counted?—he was watering the hanging plants outside when he saw you approaching, hair messy and footsteps hurried as you brushed past without a glance in his direction, and he assumed you were running late to work. That was the first time he’s ever seen you in such a disheveled state, so far from your usually commanding presence.

He likes it. He thinks it’s cute. He thinks you’re cute.

Later, he’d also learn that you work at the tattoo parlour just a few doors down, though he should’ve known given the impressive collection of tattoos that decorate your skin, which only adds to your unapproachable aura.

To put it simply—you intimidate the crap out of Chan. The two of you could not be any more different from each other, completely opposite ends of the spectrum. He’s soft sweaters in pastel colours, lattes with extra milk and caramel syrup, pretty flowers and silky petals; you’re all-black outfits and sharp eyeliner, plain coffee with not a single drop of dairy whatsoever.

Perhaps you’re lactose intolerant, or maybe anything but black coffee ruins your meticulously-crafted aesthetic.

Either way, he finds you utterly mesmerising.

You had seen him around the house when you went to play with Johnny’s twin sister, Jia, but you never paid him any attention. At the age of eleven, you and Jia could care less about boys; you just wanted to see who could braid each other’s hair the fastest and see if you could fit into her mom’s evening gowns without her noticing. (Spoiler: you couldn’t.)

Since you lived down the street, all you had to do was walk a few minutes to get to Jia’s house. Mark, on the other hand, always rode his bike. Your mother didn’t allow you to go over on weekdays, so you practically lived at Jia’s house on the weekends. Now, though, it was summer vacation, so you could do whatever you liked.
