This hug gives me rabies because it's so Knowing despite the fact that Lucas makes it clear 5 seconds later that he has no idea El was involved at all. he starts having a whole moment with El before he's even done combo hugging Will and Mike even though he's better friends with them.

There's no reason for them to mutually hug this way except that they recognize each other as the only other one who loves Max as much as they do.

This hug is also mutual guilt.

They both had the sole mission of protecting Max, that they failed at (through no fault of their own, but tell me they aren't still guilty). But neither one knows about the other.

Lucas has no idea El was there, let alone being beaten and tied up and unable to act when Max started getting killed. El didn't see Lucas fighting Jason and that he was unable to act when Max started to levitate. They both think that they were the one who screwed up their one job and cost the life of each others' most beloved person.
