as far as i'm concerned, post-canon dean opens a gay bar and rumor quickly spreads among queer hunters that rocky's is a place where they can safely and openly be themselves in every aspect. it's not every day you walk into a bar that has a rainbow flag hanging behind the bar and salt painted into the windowsills, after all
dean has a small staff of people who both give him shit and respect him immensely (claire picks up shifts whenever she's in the area and pretends not to notice that dean pays her double). he makes his angel husband cut the limes on tequila tuesdays. he has cocktails on the menu named after both charlie and crowley (queen of moondor and king of hell, respectively)
and every thursday after closing, dean lets cas lead him in a dance as the jukebox finishes playing the last song of the night

Ik we love female friendships but I think that Jo (resurrected but aged up with them) and Charlie (still alive) meeting as Dean's Best Girl Friend would be rough to begin with. Because this would be funny to me. They don't have a whole lot in common other than being Girl - Jo never displayed any interest in fiction from what I recall and that's 90% of Charlie's interests. Charlie defaults to placating and Jo defaults to caustic AND would read Charlie's placating moves as using her girliness against her. Both of them are territorial and jealous over Dean's affection and (more importantly) over ELLEN'S affection (she's back too dw about it). Charlie is desperate for a mother figure and Jo sees Charlie as trying to replace her especially when Ellen is nice to Charlie where she's nitpicky to Jo. Charlie views Jo's skillset as more inherently valuable to the team and initially assumes that Jo is less good at research skills than her because she's good at physical stuff (to protect her own ego) (Charlie is insecure about her position on the team). Obviously the sexual tension.
They would eventually work through it and become close friends and perhaps friends with benefits but isn't it fun and character building to introduce some conflict before they get there !

Scenes/Things in Supernatural that genuinely don't make sense to me if Dean was straight:
The confession booth scene.
Sam just rolling with the fact that Dean's siren is a guy while still thinking sirens infect people through sex.
Dean being flustered by several men: Gunner Lawless, Aaron, Doctor Sexy, etc.
All the parallels between Destiel and other couples. (A big one being "last night on Earth" bc how do you do that accidentally.)
Having all the gay jokes be on Dean instead of Sam.
Paralleling Sam meeting his childhood celebrity crush with Dean meeting Gunner Lawless.
The boner Dean got when Cas cleaned up.
Dean gulping after Cas does an impression from a Western movie.
Charlie, a lesbian, calling Castiel "dreamy."
The way Mary looks at Dean and Cas when they hug.
Dean wondering why everyone assumes he's gay, while Sam not caring.
The logic that Charlie can't flirt with guys because she's only attracted to women, but then having Dean flirt with the guy for her.
Dean seeming disappointed when learning that Aaron's flirting was fake.
The amount of time Dean and Cas spend staring at each other.
Dean canonically having an orgy with Crowley.
A woman saying that she knows when someone's pining for someone else to Dean, just for us to learn that Dean was never in love with Amara.

He was supposed to be an antagonist
He was meant to only last a few weeks
And instead he became their best friend
And he fell in love
And he stayed for 12 years

the writers of supernatural were actually so misogynistic that for fifteen years they would pretty much only write complex relationships for their main male characters with other male characters, where if somehow any of those male characters had a meaningful relationship with any woman, she would eventually be killed off so the men could go back to their Natural State of only forming close relationships with other men, and then...they had the audacity to wonder why everyone thought all those men were gay

Someone shoot me in the foot a person at j2 panel asked what their characters would do if they knew they couldn’t fail and Jensen said ‘be a father’

there's a lot to bitch about re: supernatural but at least it was made in 2005 starring teen soap actors on the cw with one million episodes per season. that's real television. if they made that shit now it would be like six episodes on apple tv and glen powell would be in it. so count your fucking blessings.

Jensen Ackles saw this script and made the choice that Dean would NOT make Cas feel bad for hugging him after the angel thought him dead
In fact, he let Dean be fully embraced by Cas, let him melt into the hug with a soft smile. Dean got to proudly Introduce his angel to Mary without shame or embarrassment, and that’s beautiful

I think neither Sam nor Jack had the courage to point out the handprint. When Dean undressed that night he saw it on the jacket and almost had a heart attack. That’s when he took the bottle of liquor and passed out as we saw him here. It’s the first time we see him wearing other clothes

In the good version of spn that lives in my head after jack brings everyone (everyone) back and dissolves into existential god dust there is a little 3 year old boy left behind 💕
