If I want to start making animatics of these freaks I had better figure out how to draw them
I’m pretty satisfied with what I’ve got going with Lucy, but Lockwood’s face shape is still giving me trouble. And his hair but that’s a generalized problem for me. Let’s also ignore that I can’t draw shoes.
George is fine though. He’s pretty easy to get the essence of.

I've always wondered why the show writers switched Sam McCarthy to Samaran Pandy, because it doesn't really have any bearing on the story. Obviously, the change was to reflect Middle Eastern descent, but it seemed like an arbitrary switch to me.
BUT THEN— I was rereading TSS and got to the part that described Sam McCarthy's ghost as looking just like George, like they could be cousins. And so, since Ali is of Iranian descent and they switched George Cubbins to George Karim to reflect that, they went ahead and switched Sam to Samaran, so that George and he could still "look like they could be cousins." And idk why but that makes me SO emotional. Especially because the characters never even mention the resemblance. It's just there for us to find.

Do you think ALSO this is why she gets a bit caught up in her abilities to connect with Visitors and throws caution to the wind sometimes when she's working alone? We see her not taking the right safety precautions but trusting in her ability without knowing if it will actually pay off ("did you know annie ward wasn't going to go after us when you released her ghost" "um not really"[paraphrased]). And maybe it's slightly because at LAST she's figured out how to connect and understand the nuance of some kind of entity (they're just dead, not alive)??
i made a post before about how lucy as a character has this core contradiction of being like super sensitive to paranormal phenomena while also completely lacking insight into the people around her. i think an interesting corollary to that is that the difference between lucy's deep sensitivity and her shallow sensitivity is, essentially, death
for everybody else death is like a veil that they either can't see past at all or that only gives them surface-level impressions of visitors without a sense of personhood or motivation. but for lucy it's completely reversed. she ONLY intuitively has insight into the motivations of the dead and is pretty much blind to the interiority of the living (which for example is why she thinks george and holly don't like her)
in the same way that she gets frustrated when lockwood doesn't recognise the inner complexity of visitors and fails to connect with them and help them, she's equally guilty of this in the living world, and as a result she completely misses out on friendships she could easily be making. lucy and lockwood both let their insight be obfuscated by their surface perceptions in different ways and in doing that you see that they only ever lose out. super interesting as a theme

To Have A Home - a Lockwood & Co edit
This started off simply enough and then gained a life of its own. I know L&Co means a great deal to a lot of people; that it truly is home for them. I hope Jonathan doesn't mind me borrowing his words. 💙🖤🧡
