i enjoy this site less & less and get less & less out of it (and don't do anyone any good by being on it) these past couple months. in fact it's heretical to say but i almost enjoy being on here less than being on twitter a lot of the time. this blog is now four years old (well it's older, but I only started using it in 2020) and most of the people I used to check on while I was off tumblr (between 2018 and 2020) and first followed again on here are not super active anymore or are outright gone. I've gotten a certain number of new followers lately and frankly attention on this site is pretty bad unless you're just posting jokes. i feel much more on edge about what i post, I'm back to being a shit broke student so I can't even really help anyone out, and I think a lot of the positive personal growth and insight as well as intellectual benefits (which, if you can believe it, did actually exist) have either outright stopped or hit severe diminishing returns (and I don't find most of the jokes that fun). every minute i'm on tumblr instead of reading or writing or doing something real feels wasted.

i like and respect a lot of you and i wish it felt like there was a good space online to get something out of discussion but it honestly doesn't right now. tumblr's passive interaction is pleasant and less intense and intimidating than direct interaction. I kind of want to maintain a pseudonymous internet presence & i don't post on twitter for obvious reasons so i might try to reboot my neocities.... my goodreads is generally pretty up to date and mutuals can def get that if they want it for whatever reason (it'd be pretty easy to deanonymize me from but honestly you could do that from here if you really cared). and also discord if you're into that.

i'm probably not going to delete the blog but hopefully before 2025 begins i'll be more or less inactive. but you'll probably see a post of some kind before then.

i swear there used to be an archive.org subsite feature - or perhaps it was hosted somewhere else - that had all major tv stations from the day of 9/11 in stacked timelines from 8:00am, that you could watch and scroll horizontally. so you can see the sort of transitional areas which to me are the most interesting parts.
