So this morning, Monday July 15th, a team from the Montreux authorities came to check the damage. In the end, it transpired nothing very serious had happened, as it was not paint, but a non-abrasive product that did not attack the bronze of the statue. A few hours later, with the appropriate equipment and a special lemon water-based product, an employee of the town of Montreux carried out a complete cleaning of the statue using a high-pressure karcher washer.

By around 10:30am, there was nothing visible of this unfortunate incident and the statue of Freddie Mercury has now regained its full splendour ! But we will definitely check by end of this afternoon if this cleaning was sufficient !

A big thank you to the town of Montreux for their very fast reaction and professionalism !

The statue of Freddie Mercury, inaugurated in Montreux in 1996, had already been targeted by vandals who had stained it with yellow paint in February 2017.

We are sad to inform you that the Freddie Mercury statue located on the shores of Lake Geneva in Montreux has unfortunately been victim of depredation by paint sprays.

The authorities of the city of Montreux have been informed by Montreux Celebration and everything will be done as soon as possible to restore it to its original state. We will keep you informed about the situation.

In February 2017, the statue had already been targeted by vandals who had soiled it with yellowish paint.

Do you ever wonder what life would be like if Freddie was still here?

What would he look like today?

How many additional albums would he have made in his solo career and with Queen? I wonder what the next album would have been after The Miracle?

Freddie and Mary would still be life long friends today.

He would have gotten to experience being an Uncle, Godfather and even a Father maybe...

He and Jim would still live in Garden Lodge living a happy life.

Could you imagine the impact Queen would have had on this generation with even more music?

28 years ago today, Freddie gave it his all even though he was sick, his smile still on. This song had to be hard on them because Freddie said his final goodbye.
