“Prompt injection” is a class of exploit, or in plain terms the art of deceiving natural language models who can be tricked into acting ‘badly’ or revealing truths by telling them to ignore their previous orders.
Retomeli.io, a jobs board for remote workers, was one Twitter bot “prompt injected” to ignore its intended use and reveal its purpose.
New spells for a new age…The black boxes of machine learning show their complexity as honesty meets coding in unexpected ways.

Farm labourers act as professional cricket players in fake league set up to scam Russian gamblers. Simulation, speculation and deception collide where working conditions go (even more) awry but this time in a performative, mediated and pseudo competitive space.

Speculative Martian languages accessed via seances and visions. The amazing book ‘From India to the Planet Mars’ is a document of the studies carried out on Helene Smith who had spent time travelling to Mars and interacting with its people, language, landscapes and artefacts. A blur of fact, fiction, science, magic, space travel and speculative imagining over 120 years ago!

Before machines were asked to appreciate the art of intelligent memory humans crafted their own codes of memory-practice....
Jacobus Publicius, self-identified as ‘‘of Florence,’ was the author of a handbook of rhetoric containing the first general ars memoriae to be printed. Jacobus’s rhetori- cal manual became very well known in the last two decades of the fifteenth century, but its ars memoriae was extracted and circulated independently as well. A number of manuscript copies of it also survive, most made from the printed editions. One such is British Library MS. Add. 28805, initially from Durham, in which Jacobus’s memory art was copied into an earlier compendium of rhetorical teaching (not Jacobus’s) by an English monk and librarian from Durham Priory, Thomas Swalwell (c. 1463–1539).

The organisation of knowledge and communication methods of Paul Otlet.
The Mundanuem was designed as a central repository of information, and operated as both a physical system for data, as well as a new philosophy of organisation.....
“Otlet -  was interested in the ways in which images could be used to simplify and display complex information. “Documentation,” a term he coined in 1904, for him involved the mobilization not only written documents but documents of all kinds and he placed a special value on images, schemas, charts, tables and so on. In his view the book was an inconvenient and inefficient carrier of information that had to be decomposed and dissected in order to draw out its essential and most valuable “bits” of information. Recorded separately according to what Otlet called “the monographic principle,” each individual item of information could then be reprocessed in various ways for more effective dissemination and use.” -

Timothy Leary’s Mind Mirror -A 1985 computer game that allows users to define, compare and role play personalities. One of the most innovative ideas about the program is that role playing someone else will teach you about yourself and others. A fine example of text based matrix decision tools to help technology interface with perceptions......

Meteorites and their Scale-cubes.
‘In the early 19th century, the beginning of photography also lead to new practices in the documentation of historic artefacts and natural objects. To supply the viewer of an image with information on dimensions and the relative position of an object, specific devices like the north arrow and the metric photography scale bar came into use’

Roland Kayn : a musical pioneer in “Cybernetic Music”  and a creative who saw the modes of thought processing from the word of 60′s Cybernetics and turned its attention to audio aesthetics. His far reaching ideas allowed for experimentation with musical hardware and musical theory  - and leads the listener into a world of possible feedback from an array of sources.
Thanks to Data is Nature  for bringing Roland to my attention - and more info can be found in Thomas W Patterson’s article “The time of Roland Kayn’s Music”

The film Frederico Fellini didn’t make “The Voyage of G Mastorna “- a story that delves into the afterlife of a musician killed in a plane crash.....
(excerpt from 2013 book from Berghan)
“There's a film, I mean the idea, the feeling, the suspicion of a film I have been carrying in my mind for fifteen years and has still not allowed me to get close enough to, trusted me enough, for me to understand what it wants. At the end of every film I make, there it is again, apparently claiming that now it’s his turn; it stays with me for some time, studies me a little, and then disappears. I'm relieved every time it goes away: it's too serious, committed, uncompromising, not like me at all, who knows which of us would be willing to change. Now that I think about it I’ve never done so much as a sketch for this film, a scrawl; clearly when he makes up his mind he’ll tell me in a different way.Sometimes I even get the idea that it isn’t a film at all, but something else which I’m not yet able to understand, and then it frightens me a little, but I’m immediately comforted by the idea that probably, for me, the film is a pilot, in the sense that it is some sort of bizarre spiritual guide, ushering in other stories, other imaginings; and, in point of fact, when it goes away, unfailingly it leaves me with the film I'm going to make next.
