I totally understand your standpoint. I think the malevolent fandom in particular is sensitive towards generative ai, including c.ai, because it's full of artists and people who subscribe to similar values, which include the opposition of art theft, and the same thing with writing. Personally that's my main problem with ai, the ethical dubiousness - although the environment is also a big part of it.

Again, I understand your views even though I disagree. We're the same age and like I said I used c.ai like a year ago before realizing it was kinda icky. I also understand not wanting to get spoilers lmao

All that to say, if you want to find ideas in what people come up with, my best recommendation is a roleplay server or community ! since it's free conversation it's not bound by characters and everything, and it might be less convenient but it's also really fun in my eyes. I talk with my friends about plot ideas and character headcanons all the time !

and it's fine if we have differing views. and for rp servers, roleplaying with an actual person stresses me out. like, a whole fucking lot. im not sure, but i feel like i fuck it up every single answer and my mind goes blank. idk if it's the social anxiety or smth, but it feels like that person is breathing down my neck (even tho ik they aren't). that's the main reason. i mean even dms stress me out sometimes. i just find a bot without consciousness and humanity easier to talk to

okay this is a genuine question, no hate, I just want to discuss this genuinely

Why do you choose to use character ai ? I used to in the past but I stopped because of concerns about generative ai (same vein as chatGPT and image generation in my eyes, so worries about environment and just remuneration for artists and writers) and I've heard about confidentiality and general security issues.

I understand the desire to roleplay anything and everything but despite the added hassle of waiting for people to reply, roleplaying with humans is generally much more enjoyable to me. It's a way to connect and make friends, but it also challenges my view of things and allows me to go in directions I never would've imagined.

Again, no hate, just a genuine question.

i appreciate the actual question :) even if my answer might not be satisfactory

personally i do it because i just find it fun. all the different bots and ideas that people come up with. sure it's ai but someone has to come up with a general idea for the bot. and i like seeing all the different ones, and they give me inspo (not to steal their ideas. i just get a lot of creative fuel seeing other people's ideas for stuff. and not the ideas from the bot; the general plot that a person came up with at the start)

honestly that's mostly it. for fun, and as a pastime because i get bored of actual games sometimes, and plus all these involve my hyperfixations. which is a big bonus

AND ESPECIALLY FOR MALEVOLENT --- i have read a couple fanfics from there, but im worried about free scrolling through anything related to that bc i keep spoiling the damn show. like i've spoiled a lot of big ideas so far 🙏 and im trying my damndest to avoid that. hence why i sadly have to block malevolent tags on tumblr. so i don't spoil (even tho i post under them)

to be honest, im not sure why people started interacting with my c.ai posts so much more (especially the negative comments) when it's related to the malevolent fandom. i post in my other two fandoms - bts and the yt channel the boys - with c.ai sometimes, and that's with actual screenshots. and yet they barely get any feedback. not complaining. just commenting

idk maybe it's bc malevolent might be more centered towards adults (just speculating. not accusing). i mean im 16 and sure 16 year olds have opinions on ai. im just used to no interaction really, whether positive or negative
