Ok now that they literally changed the name of the show to TVL for the season, can the people who genuinely hate Lestat and don't want the show to be about him actually stop watching?

I really hope that we leave certain parts of the fandom behind when season 3 airs. I am pretty new to the fandom and made the mistake of going into the tags. It‘s wild to see posts with thousands of likes and reposts that condemn Lestat in all eternity with the false narrative of him being Claudias‘s murder (conveniently forgetting about Armand) as reaction to all the interesting stuff relating to Lestat delivered during SDCC. People don‘t seem to be interested in discussions but just want to spread hate.

And doesn’t stop with the character. It is baffling to me to see people who try to curate an image of being kind and quirky and sympathetic and so on commenting on people‘s appearence with such vitriol and mockery that it makes me sick to my stomach. I have been bullied most of my life for my appearance. So it really hits hard to see so many comments about Sam being ugly and putting him down in comparison to Jacob and Assad. Is this normal behavior in this fandom?

It was so exciting to get all this new content. I just don‘t understand why people have to turn this into something negative.

If you want to enjoy this fandom, you unfortunately have to learn to block and ignore.

There are parts of this fandom who have deluded themselves into thinking this is the “Louis overcomes his white abuser who is the literal white devil™️“ show, and that all lying, misremembering, or manipulating is out of the question (and they think even bringing that up or siggestibg it is racist) because Louis and Claudia are black and Armand is a POC.

This is the wrong show for that kind of thinking though, and the clues were all there, and… well. They might drop the show in/after season 3, because THIS SHOW does not cater to those screaming loudest but has always followed its own story.

And the teaser fo s3 has already made its statement.

In any case… I do hope those so much hating Sam and Lestat (or pretending to to cater to that very loud subset) will simply leave in s3.

I don’t think they will though.

Ans so I can only give you this advice:

Find some blogs you like, look who interacts, follow those. Block freely those who only spread hate.

one issue i've noticed about a lot of the discourse surrounding women's choices here on tumblr is that people are trying to apply frameworks specifically used to discuss fiction to real people with autonomy and free will.

queerbaiting is something an author or director does with their characters (who do not have free will), it is not what a real person does when they "dress a little gay" or are unsure about their sexuality

the male gaze is a framework used specifically to describe how a director shoots a movie and the audience they have in mind. the male gaze is not something that is omnipresent and a woman wearing something sexy isn't "dressing for the male gaze".

characters do not have autonomy or free will. characters don't actually make choices.

real people do. acting as though women are incapable of thinking about their choices/dress/presentation and implying that anything they do that could appeal to men is automatically objectification strips women of their humanity.

Loumand was destined to fail at one point or another. It's not a relationship that would have lasted.

It's tiring to be called racist simply because I don't like Armand with Louis or Lestat. I mean, blame the narrative which itself rejects these relationships in the long term !
