You loved me the other day. You wanted me to sit beside you in the dark. Didn’t I feel it- didn’t I know? There’s something between us- a sort of pull. Something you always do to me and I to you.

Hunting Lila
Hunting Lila was my first ever Sarah Alderson book, and I can safely say it WILL NOT be my last. Lila is everything you could want in a young female protagonist, strong willed and confident, but also entirely relatable. As a slightly offbeat, inherently clumsy 17-year-old my self, I can 110% connect with her on that level, but Lila has also been through a lot in her short life. Losing her mother and the absenteeism of her father have definitely caused her to become reserved, but also fiercely independent. Okay. lets talk romance. Alex is... frustrating, always trying to do the right thing by Jack, by Lila. At some points I wish he would just wake up and realize that he only has a two book series meaning he only has about 600 pages to get with Lila, thus putting his misplaced sense of pride aside and realizing that him and Lila are definite endgame! putting this aside Alex is for all intents and purposes perfect. the paranormal aspect of the story was really underrated. it was incredibly subtle and woven through the plot very finely, especially in the first half of the novel, where Lila does not understand what it is that she can do. This power comes to fruition later on when she meets Demos and friends who encourage her to embrace her talents. I could have done with more of the paranormal aspect, as I loved it but also occasionally forgot that it was a part of the story. if i had any criticisms for this novel it would be the lack of character development around Suki, Nate, Amber ect. They were such engaging, funny, characters that I just wanted more! even then I can barley complain because both Suki and Amber have there own short stories! so basically, READ THIS BOOK! its fast paced, funny, light-hearted, and will leave you wanting so much more! buckle up for book 2 i can already tell its going to be hectic!

Tuesdays Top Five!
YA spy novels, are guilty pleasure of mine. Actually! not guilty at all, ill talk to anyone about the importance of kick ass teens
5. Alex Rider (Anthony Horowitz). Their is something about 14 year-old boy who ends up working with MI6 that really resonates with me. kidding, their just cool.
4. The Squad (Jenifer Lynn Barnes). I was never once interested in the whole cheer leading thing, and then I started these, and was trying to teach myself to touch my toes by the 5th page.
3. Heist Society (Ally Carter). Technically not spy, but teen from a thieving family, trying to turn her life around by thieving back stolen goods? yes please!
2. CHERUB (Robert Muchmore). By far the most believable books on this list. not to be underestimated! read these when i was 12 and would still read them now at 17, not often you can say that.
1. Gallagher Girls (Ally Carter). these book hold a special place in my heart, excluding Harry Potter the first YA novels i ever read, still some of the best. also shout out to Ally for being incredible in general, and no wonder featuring twice on this list!
