Ozempic and its siblings can make contraceptive meds less effective
edit: we are referring here specifically to the sudden push to prescribe them for weight loss
further edit: please don't undermine this with "adipose" doctor who jokes, this is serious
further further edit: the whole point of posting this was just to let people know you might need other forms of contraception, not to put people off using the meds?

An obnoxious Leftie take I have is that we need to make it common knowledge that the medical term for a miscarriage is a “spontaneous abortion” it makes it much more difficult to say something should be illegal when it is understood medically as something the body can just do sometimes.

I don't wanna hear one more bitch saying that contacting your senators&reps doesn't work
Btw, this is FAR from getting rid of the land selloff from the BBB. Keep at it. Mike Lee specifically is notable because he's from Utah, the state that's pushed for that sell off very heavily for mining income.

Your soup was watery and mediocre, as soup went, but as a delivery method for gelid explosives—it was perfect.

Since the last I heard about was the TryLeg stuff and next thing I hear, Outlaw and Tex are dead, I can only assume that that company saw Outlaw make Tex his gold leg and decided they needed to die lest they start giving out more free medical care and interfere with their Profits

“We need better public transit and more passenger railways” — fuck yeah I’m all about this~
“… and we need to actively discourage people from owning and driving cars and it should be illegal actually” — FUCK NO.
I don’t know why pro-public transit people have to be so obnoxious about this and ostracize people who would otherwise support their cause. I also find it amusing that they’re more than willing to be massive dicks to me for not hating on cars, until I mention I’m disabled and immune compromised and a lot of times not being able to go DIRECTLY from point A to point B (and limit my exposure to other people’s germs) will stop me from being able to do things and go places. At which point they usually stop engaging with me because I don’t fit the stereotype of disabled and unable to drive.
Overall, a lot of causes shoot themselves in both feet by saying that in order to do X thing (which most people would agree is positive) they need to take Y away from you (for no good reason).

i need to get up and do chores but ive posted on here before about my pet theory that autism and ADHD also have two primary subtypes on the adrenergic axis and most autists will have either primarily adrenaline-seeking or adrenaline-avoidant behaviors depending on what they're lacking, with a mixture of upregulating or downregulating behaviors that address self-regulation of minor states. prior to the DSM-5 the split of ADHD into the separate ADD and ADHD subtypes with or without hyperactivity was maybe a more helpful taxonomy in some sense. i remember in the 90s that it was a pretty big deal to differentiate between the disruptive, class clown, hyperactive kids and the morose, withdrawn, sluggish kids for this reason.
there's been a lot of cortisol testing of autistic people and they kept finding contradictory cortisol levels in their subjects until recently one paper i read proposed that rather than autists universally being all high or all low, it seemed to be the case that having normal cortisol fluctuations over the day was a sign of being non-autistic, and the autism biomarker was instead that autists tended to produce the wrong amount of cortisol either for our internal clocks, or for the environment, and that we were usually running on either too much (agitation, overstimulation) or too little (fatigue, dissociation).
how much of this is a direct result of PTSD, or even more interestingly, a cause of PTSD, is one of the interesting factors

Ok cool but if that bill passes then I absolutely need employment for my medicaid so how do I get a job when I'm crushed under all of that? Don't tell me "just die." Fuck you, I refuse to die like a coward.
"You're completely gunked up with cortisol due to the fact that your entire daily life is now underscored with a haunting awareness of the rapid erosion of your rights, dignity, and any and all social safety nets, and you're also bearing witness to the most vulnerable people immediately being persecuted. This creates a natural stress response that basically means you're going to continue having memory and organizational problems, as well as emotional imbalances."

Anna Beth, babygirl, you cannot be serious. They’re just political pawns. That’s all they’re for. But it is to troubling and fascinating to see these people experience the anguish of their cognitive disconnect about what the government is doing now.

I need to make, I don't know, a video essay or something. To make the point to normies that like, George Bush and a bunch of other mainstream political figures in recent US history have been war criminals, no, not like in some radical left wing activist speak way like just in a centrist liberal I think the UN charter means something straight up these guys are literally actual war criminals, no, I know, everyone calls everyone war criminals and fascists these days I get it I get it your least favorite politician is like hitler but no not like that like literally, these guys are literally war criminals who committed war crimes in a literal, actual, they actually did it not a theoretical what if it happened here it could happen here way no not like that, like, just regular, actually, just straight up, I cannot express to you how moderate and not radical and just straight up literal regular this opinion is way, war criminals who did actual specific major war crimes that killed a bunch of people and they should probably be in prison, really, really I promise, these guys should be actually in prison probably

Lessons history teaches us that are actually relevant to to the present:
Nationalism is a sham.
Democracy is young and fragile.
Things can always get worse.
Both sides have complicated and understandable reasons for feeling the way they do, but not good enough reasons to excuse all the human rights violations (universally applicable to every geopolitical conflict).
Anything beyond that is merely academically interesting. And it is very interesting! But people who insist on the relevance of history beyond these four points are usually just trying to make you forget at least one of them.

I think that it's important than ever to seize control of the Democratic party and purge ghouls like Chuck Schumer who were calling for this attack. America needs an actual opposition to fascism.

spontaneous protest erupts out of popular discontent > people react to police brutality > protestors and media alike push the ‘peaceful’ narrative as an appeal to authority > lacking any organized way to escalate, protestors are atomized and alienated > protest fizzles out > repeat process

i don’t know how to explain to you people that no matter what a country’s government is like i do not and will not support the US indiscriminately bombing that country’s civilians and i don’t know why that’s a controversial take tbh

that post that's like "what's wrong with joining the army to kill people ain't that the point" always reminds me of how a few years into the iraq war this volunteer american soldier gave an interview to the washington post where he said exactly that and candidly confessed to having already killed someone for fun but being disappointed by how easy and unexciting he felt it was, and a month later he planned and participated in a gang rape and massacre of a little girl and her family. average poor dumb kid from little old usa just trying to afford college
