Bathing ang How often to bathe your pets.
Bathing is very integral part of every one of us including our beloved pets. It keeps them Healthy and also it keeps their skin and coat healthy. Most of our dogs can’t keep calm. They have a habit of exploring everything around them in accordance with freedom given to them. Dogs have a habit in particular, they tend to leave their scent wherever they go. For that they will rub their body against the wall or any other object and this process they accumulate dirt and other particulates. In order to keep them away from this and make them feel free as well bathing becomes an important grooming practice. Usually, it is recommended a bath twice a week but it may vary accordance with dogs’ daily schedule, for example if a dog is going for swimming regularly than he only needs bath with just water and drying, Bathing helps them to remove loose hairs, dirt, other particulates etc. Before going for a bath, a general skin and coat examination is recommended for any skin infections or occurrence of any tick and flea infection or any kind of injury. If everything is normal then one should go for a mild shampoo and conditioner. If you find any kind of signs of infection or infestation then its in best interest of pest to approach a veterinarian and go for proper advice of the expert. Bathing frequency depends on many reasons like:
Weather condition
Lifestyle of a dog (Hunting dog/ Family dog/ Swimming dog)
Medical Condition
Breed In winters it’s better to give bath every 15-20 days with Luke warm water. In winters its important to dry the coat with Hair Dryer to ensure complete drying. But if dogs get dirty then instead of using water one can opt for Dry shampoo or Foaming shampoo which do not require water and can be done using wet towel. In summer season its better to bathe your dog twice a week time. The time may vary according to lifestyle of the dog. We will have separate blog on lifestyle and bathing correlations. In case of any medical condition, one should visit a veterinarian and take recommendations and treatment (if any) from him. Regarding "Breed" we will have a separate blog as it’s a huge topic on its own.

Step1: General Handling:
It is very necessary to make your dog comfortable before you start brushing. This step should generallystart while your dog is still a puppy as early training is very easy rather than training while they are adult.Start by patting and stroking different parts of their body, praise and award with treat to make themcalm and easy to handle. Start from patting them on chest are, shoulders, sides and gradually movetowards the back. Once they are comfortable try touching each leg, lift their paws slightly one by oneand gently touch the footpads and nails and also ears and under the chin. Most of the puppy will allowyou to do but if they are aggressive or over reacting best was to control them is by giving them treat oftheir choice.
Step 2: Introduction with Brush:
Before introduction one must ensure to select right kind of Brush as per the coat of Dog. If you are a dogowner than you are probably aware that dogs are curious and they will treat brush as a toy or anythingwhich is available to chew. So, it becomes important to associate Brush with something that is pleasant.Start with introduction of Brush with Tasty Dog treat. Once he is comfortable with brush around rewardwith dog treat so that he can cooperate during the process.
Step 3: Brushing Gently
One the Dog is comfortable and relaxed, start brushing lightly and gently on shoulder and chest areas. Ifthey are calm reward them with treat and gradually increase the brushing time and number of strokes.Extend to other parts of the body while brushing in the direction of the hair growth. Repeat this processtwo or three times till the dog becomes completely comfortable with it.If there are any mats, tangle or knots then do not put force to remove them as it may cause pain anddiscomfort. Mats and Tangles should be carefully removed with right kind of scissors.Brush occasionally in direction opposite to hair growth to check the skin condition and occurrence ofticks, fleas and dirt.
This process might take more than one day as initially the dog might not get comfortable with it soowner must halt the process and continue on other day. Rewarding each time can make some stubborndog comfortable within few days.
Note: This whole process should be done calmly and using soft hands. If dog is not cooperating thanone should not show any kind of aggression as it might lead to development of bad behavioral traits indogs. If after trying different brushing technique the dog is not cooperating than the final solution is toconsult a local Veterinarian or groomer for better advise.
Step 4: Treat for good Session
