Different sorts of obi knots worn by Maiko and Hangyoku:  1. Darari musubi worn by a Nara Maiko: Standard obi associated with Maiko. Trademark of the Kyoto Maiko, but also worn in Nara, Gifu and Ôsaka. 2. Han-Darari worn by an Akita Maiko: like the Darari musubi, but half length. Worn by Minarai (one stage before becoming a Maiko) in Kyoto. Outside of Kyoto, only seen on Akita Maiko. 3. Yanoji musubi worn by a Niigata Furisode-san: worn in Tokyo, Niigata, Fukuoka, Yamagata and several other cities. 4. Ya giccha Musubi (やぎっちゃ), worn by an Ôsaka Maiko: most popular in Ôsaka, nowadays only worn by Gifu Maiko. 5. Fukurasuzume musubi, worn by Tokushima Maiko. Apart from being worn by Maiko, it is a popular knot to wear with Furisode.
