Weekly Update #6: Websites
Hello everybody! Now that I’m back in the habit of posting these every week, I’d like to announce that I now have a new, professional website. It’s http://botahamec.weebly.com All blog posts will still continue to appear on my tumblr and blogspot accounts. Just this looks alot better in my opinion. It has a basic about me page, links to all of my games, and a forum. You can’t deny that is great. 
But I recommend that you still look at my tumblr account because I hide little secrets in there and you can ask me any question you want. botahamecdev.tumblr.com I’m still thinking of something for the guys who look at blogspot.
TV Tycoon
Well, now that Five Nights on the Internet is released I don’t have to talk about it anymore. So let’s get a move on.
Since the last update, I finally finished employees. Or at least somewhat finished. There’s still a few bugs that I want to fix so wait a bit more.
Codename: Who’s Guilty
I’d like to introduce two new members who will be helping me make Codename: Who’s Guilty. Rex0099 will be the artist and WaveJones will be writing the story. Also, I may switch over to the Unity Engine for the game. I think Unity is a good option because it has better graphics and better drawing. Two things I need for the game.

YES! Look at that! Two weeks in a row! It it will only continue throughout the rest of the month.
Five Nights on the Internet
For those of you who didn’t leave after Five Nights on the Internet came out (http://gamejolt.com/games/five-nights-on-the-internet/64045), this is how it’s doing.

The game seems to consistently get 5 plays every day. Which isn’t too bad.
TV Tycoon
Finally! Progress! Me and gamedev13600 have joined Crumpet Team, who will be helping us with the creation of the game.
Since then, I have partially programmed employees and partially fixed the review system. Both of which will probably be done sometime today.
To make this game as great as we can, we have delayed the release to 2016.
Codename: Who’s Guilty
Alrighty then. The game is pretty much done, but I need an artist. The artist has to be capable of creating backgrounds and characters with transparent backgrounds. The size should be 2880 x 2180. This is because I use the engine Stencyl, which resizes the pictures to something much smaller. Some people like this, but I want the player to see what the characters look like. The game’s concept was built around that.

Five Nights on the Internet
The bug for Five Nights on the Internet is fixed, but I saw a few comments for the demo and want to improve on what I released as a demo. I have decided to set the release date to Monday, August 10. This is provide small gameplay improvements.
You’ve expressed that this looks like a good idea and I appreciate it and want to create the best experience I can.
TV Tycoon
Unfortunately, development is slow currently for TV Tycoon as we need an artist to help make the visuals. If you can help make graphics 2880x2180, please contact me at [email protected] and I’ll get to you as soon as possible. 
As for programming, not much work is remaining. Just employees, offices, and whatever else we think of before our release date of November this year.
New Game
Now, I have a new game to announce today. I think you’ll like it. Maybe not the idea but soon after the game comes out I hope for it to become popular.
The game is called Codename: Who’s Guilty.
You are a detective in a strange city. In a hotel, you learn of a murder. Solve the mystery of who is the murderer.
The game features an incredible story that I think you’ll love.
Sorry for my rare updates, but I can almost guarantee an update next week.

Some of you may be wondering where Five Nights on the Internet is. It’s pretty much done. I just have one glitch to fix. It will be here when it’s ready.

Weekly Update #3: Release Date
It's been 3 weeks since news came out on this blog. I better make this good.
First, a teaser for Five Nights on the Internet.

First, the elephant in the room. The release date is August 8th. No. it has nothing to do with when FNaF4 was supposed to be released. I just need extra time to squeeze in last minute features. It's almost done. Even the gameplay is about ready. I just want to be able to polish it if I have to.
Next, TV Tycoon. This game is also almost complete when considering coding. But we still need art and music. Speaking of which, we will be showing our Indiegogo page for the game very soon. I'll post an update on this blog when that happens. I don't have anything to show right now but be patient. We're hoping to release this Fall.

Weekly Update #3: Let's Jam
Now you're going to tell me it's been two weeks since my last post. Oh wait. It has.
No updates on TV Tycoon or Five Nights on the Internet this week. Hopefully things will be back to normal next week (including my sleeping habits).

Weekly Update #2: New Game
Wow. How long has it been since I made one of these. A week? It feels like 2 months. Oh well.
So the title says there's a new game but before I get to that let me talk about Five Nights on the Internet.
So last week I told you the title screen was done. I never showed it to you. Here it is:

Not exciting but there it is. It uses the same font as the Windows Phone (Segoe UI Light).
My progress is as follows. The sanity bar and random messages have been programmed. So without further ado, this is what's done:

I still have to program the gameplay, make the end of the nights, set the A.I. level for each day, record the phone calls and actually upload it to Game Jolt.
There's still no Game Jolt page.

There's going to be an Indiegogo page soon for TV Tycoon. I'll post a message when the page is ready.
The title screen is ready, the HUDs are ready, the Film Festival is ready, the gameplay is... not ready. The money is nonexistent.
I'll keep working on it.

The reason for a more broad release date is because we have to get it Greenlit on Steam.
We have no idea when that will be.

I’d just like to add my advice. Polish it until it’s clear. I made a list showing the order of which a player will notice it.
1. The name- You know the phrase “don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” Well nobody actually does that. Make an interesting title that summarizes the game perfectly
2. The art- If the art is bad, the player is likely to think the rest of the game is mediocre. Use good art!
3. The first 5 minutes- If your player didn’t like the first 5 minutes, they won’t bother to play the rest of the game. If you do well enough, you might just bias the player into liking the rest of the game better.
4. The story- In experience, I’ve found that if the story is good enough, you can get away with an average gameplay experience. Just look at Presentable Liberty. It literally has no gameplay and is my favorite uh... “experience”. There are the minigames but, those are optional. But when I say “good”, I mean, it has to be one of the greatest stories the player has ever seen. If it doesn’t meet up to the standards of Inside Out, then you better have a good game.
5. The rest of the game- Tat doesn’t mean slack off on the rest of the game. If the only good part of the game is 5 minutes long, that’s how long the game should be. Not including credits and title screens.
Any tips on people new to game development? You seem to have been doing this long enough haha.
Well… I guess the best advice I can give is to start really really small. My biggest mistake when making games was that I always dreamt way too big at the start, and since I’d lose interest after a while I never really finished anything. It’s important to finish things because that gives you the biggest satisfaction, so yeh. I have lots and lots of games that are about 10% done because I wanted to make them way too big. I’m really just starting now to actually somewhat make bigger games

Weekly Update #1: I'm Back!
Hey guys! Sorry for the lack of news. But I'm back and hoping to make these at least once per week.
First, some minor news. I switched the engine from Game Maker to Stencyl. I'm more familiar with Stencyl and can make the game more quickly this way.
Now, a picture is worth a thousand words (no wonder they don't let you use them on research papers) and here's your first picture.

This is just a template for the rest of the game. If you're wondering, it's a Windows Phone (what I have). I chose a Windows Phone because I like the visual style of it (but if you're looking to get apps on it, be aware that you're selection will be a bit limited).
Finally, another game I'm making this summer will be unveiled on this blog next week. It'll be here before the next FNotI update.
Okie-dokie. I do have a title screen done and I have all of the pictures needed to make the game. I'll have more for you next week so stay tuned for that. In the mean time, I have a teaser.

Five Nights on the Internet: Poll #1 Results
I ran a poll on reddit ( http://www.reddit.com/r/fivenightsatfangames/comments/37npop/should_five_nights_on_the_internet_be_text_based/ ) asking whether the the game should be text-based or use GUIS. Here are the results: It was mostly a mix. My current idea is to switch between the 2 modes. GUIs use more power but have the advantage that when in use, users can be banned. I'm still deciding what will happen if you run out of power. I'm still open to suggestions though
