Thank you for chapter 43, but I found this chapter such a huge turn point for Reggie because even though we always knew he is in love with His Maddy, he admitted he loves her but not only that but because he loves everything about her the good, the bad and with flaws and all. To me that is very mature because children that age are very much into looks.

He believes that MacNair is in love with Maddy, but because he's a wannabe Death Eater I find myself difficult to understand his(MacNair)concept to fall in love, but is Reggie right that his arch nemesis is in love Maddy and if that is the case then I feel sorry for him?

I can't wait for Barty and Maddy to go to the dueling club and wipe the floor of the wannabe Death Eaters.

Well, as you may know, madeline seduced Macnair with some gruesome facts about muggles, like muggle weapons and some morbid muggle science facts... macnair loves the pretty girl who can match his morbidness, not knowing it's a crafted persona...

He really likes the mask madeline use.. but it's just a mask, hence why hermione-maddy thinks he doesn't truly like her.

But regulus's point still stands. While macnair might be in love with a mere mask, it doesn't mean his feelings are any less real. Madeline refused to see macnair's feelings as real, and she really was being cruel to him.

And what does this say about madeline's future thoughts on regulus's feelings? With the recent discovery and madeline's secretiveness, what he have seen all this time might be a mere mask. Would she, someone who always viewed as kind, dismiss his feelings? That's the thought that made regulus so shaken, and why he pondered over madeline's carefully hidden self such as her ambitions and motivations. If the mask is removed, would he still like her?

We all know the answer for that haha

I know that regulus decided that he still liked her so quickly, but you have to understand that regulus is just being regulus. When orion basically said 'get over your feelings' he pettily said 'no' and realized he still liked her. he didn't want to get over his feelings.

Anyway, i'm excited for the duelling club scene too!!

Thank you so much for chapter 43, but I was a little disappointed that Maddy is not being overly honest with the two people she's closest to(Barty and Reggie)who I feel would be able to understand and help with regards to MacNair. I absolutely love her relationship with them but I feel she's being a bit unfair. Will she eventually open up to them about her plans for MacNair?

Now I loved Evan in the beginning but now I dislike him because mainly his treatment of Barty, using him(Barty)with his homework and hanging out with older students who are bullying others. I really hope for his sake that he realises that people from the dueling club are not his friends and he may lose the person(Barty)who accepted him for who he is. Is that friendship doomed to recover?

Could you please reassure me that Barty won't join the dueling club, because that would break my heart?

Hi, I don't know how to go about this, so sorry if this is wrong, but what awful thing is Maddy using McNair for? I love this story and delving into the slytherin personalities and dynamics! I do hope we get more of Maddy interacting with Remus!

Well, it involves a ritual she was searching in the black's library when she visited grimmauld place. I won't tell you much about it, but this is the surveillance projet, that is the project that would allow her to know the slytherins and the dark lord movement. As it involves a ritual, it just can't be done too soon and so easily.

And remus will appear again! But only after barty's conflict with the duelling club is finished! And that will happen soon.

I love mad adventure so much! How do you manage to create relationships with so much depth and nuance?

I just let their lives consume mine.. Kidding, lol.

In my opinion, creating relationships with depth needs characters with depth, so i just focus on their characters and their internal and external developments.

For example, barty. He has complicated feelings about most people in his life right now. He resented his father for being absent and confining them in the manor during his childhood, but he also wants his attention and love because that was just something that he always wanted as a child. As he grew up, he grew his opinions about his father's treatments for his sister and for his mother. More often than not, that opinions leans towards the negative, so his general attittude towards his father was negative.

Barty loves maddy, adores her to the bones. His entire childhood was filled with her, and she's magically awesome. For the longest time, she was his cool sister who is kind and knows everything. But then hogwarts started, madeline faced reality, and barty finally saw his sister for what she is. Someone drowning in secrets, someone who was striving for something only she knows. She left him in the dark and he resented her for that, because madeline was always, always, everything to him and it sucks to realize that he was not everything to maddy. He grew to realize her flaws - the way she could just focus on one thing and ignore the rest, how she lies and keeps on lying to protect her secrets, how she could be perceptive about others but not when it was related to her, how she lied to herself to make 'good' opinions about others, how she was too hung on her principles and forget that they lived in a society. He came to terms with these flaws, and realized she was still his cool sister. So he worked around it, and if madeline starts to use her manipulations on him to hide her secrets, he manipulates her back to make her open up.

His relationship with evan is also complicated because evan has been his friend for a long time. He felt a bit competitive with him also because for the longest time, he only had evan to compare himself with. And he also worried for evan, because evan has his own situation (such as a troubling and potentially abusive family). But he is also mad at evan, because evan started to hang around older students (older students that didn't even look barty's way) and spending less and less time with him.

His relationship with regulus was also a bit complicated. He's his first friend he made after he went out the confine of his house. But regulus likes madeline so hard, maddy became a large part in the relationship between regulus and barty. And while he likes regulus, he also thinks his family is a bit much. And when he visited the blacks, he realized that regulus is also a bit 'much', he just hides it better. Hanging out with regulus is still fun though, and the older boy is quite dependable and smart so barty has positive attitudes towards him.

Meanwhile, he has negative attitude towards the marauders because they bothered maddy that one time and negative attitude towards gryffindors in general because of his house and because of that one kid who insulted his second hand book. That attitude then affected his relationship with them.

So.. yeah. That's a small part of barty's journey. Characters and relationships, they're affected by the events in their life, and those events are also affected by the characters and their relationship.

I was so excited when I got the email notification that you updated this fabulous story, because I was almost afraid that you may have decided to let this go. So thank you for the wonderful update and reading this chapter from Reggie's perspective was even better, because I love getting into what makes him tick and his feelings and thoughts.

I really hope that he won't give up on His Maddy because I actually love his possessiveness of her and it's tasteful than toxic, and I know we don't know and read much about James and Lily thank goodness, but that sort of relationship is unhealthy because of the fact J and L don't have a basis of friendship or even study together for them for them to know if they would work as a long term romantic relationship. Whereas Reggie and Maddy's romantic relationship would work long term because they are friends, study together and he may be obsessive and only has eyes for her but he's letting her do what she wants and doesn't call her by her surname like James calls Lily by hers. But back to Reggie, he won't give up on His Maddy will he?

I know that Rab betrayed Reggie, but will the two boys ever become best friends again? I hope so, and I really hope for Reggie's sake Barty helps him with his Maddy's dilemma lol.

Now this is probably getting ahead of myself, but because Maddy's deep blue eyes are his weakness lol, will one or two of their children have her eyes considering he loves them?

I'll give you a bit of spoiler. Regulus is feeling a bit down at the moment, and because barty said it was maddy's wish to go out with macnair, he feels like there is nothing he can do. Surprisingly, he will cling on Sirius's advice for some time.

Regarding James and Lily, i want them to get together in my story, if only because baby harry is a must! In my fic, Lily and James are attracted to each other physically since the very beginning, and due to madeline's interference, Lily started to befriend james earlier. Snape is therefore less bullied (because lily actually talked to james about her dislike for his bullying), though the marauders and snape are still enemies.

Rab and reg.. those boys need to grow up first and get over themselves before they can reconcile. And in another universe they never did, and regulus died alone :" oh well.

Maddy's children.. i'm undecided but they'll be jaw-droppingly beautiful!

First of all, thank you so much for writing Mad Adventure. It’s my first time reading this pairing and it’s been such a lovely treat. Thank you for your contribution 🫡. I adore your character dynamics, both romantic (or whatever their current situation is between Regulus and Hermione-Maddy lol) and other platonic interactions in the story. Whenever I read a Time Travel/Marauders Era fic like this, it’s usually from the perspectives of our resident Gryffindors, with Snape as the only Slytherin with in-depth characterization (and occasionally Regulus if they focus more on Sirius). It’s so interesting observing them from afar now. Will Remus, at some point, know that Maddy has been helping him with the full moons? Looking forward to more interactions between the Marauders and Hermione-Maddy plus baby Death Eaters��in the future. (I enjoy the staring down between Regulus and Remus in Hogsmeade a lot lol.) 

Question: Will Regulus and Rabastan make up in the near future (next 3 chapters)? My hope is that they can mend their relationship, but I can’t see Rabastan reaching out to explain anytime soon, as he already decides everything is doomed and fakes apathy instead. (very dramatic. But such is the way of teenagers). And if they do reconcile, will there be lasting consequence for their relationship? I appreciate Rabastan a lot; he’s (very quickly) become my favorite supporting character; and I truly believe he’s a good friend to Regulus in spite of this transgression. How bad is Rabastan’s action in Regulus’ eyes, by the way? If Rabastan had appeared remorseful, would Regulus have forgiven him? 

P. S. I’m not quite sure what I was expecting from the recent chapters but growing to like Walburga and Orion Black is not it. I love their interaction (that light jab at his wife lol and Walburga being self-aware?!). I sort of imagined Lord and Lady Black to have a cold and perfunctory marriage, but that doesn’t seem to be the case? Regulus remarks that he doesn’t think his father hate his mother, but they’re not exactly the picture of loving matrimony either, with Arcturus Black’s comment about the reason behind his son’s resentment toward him and Barty’s about how Orion only comes out of his study for meals. Color me intrigued. 

P. S. S. Did anyone present notice Maddy blushing at Orion Black? Lol. I know I was definitely blushing.

Remus will not find out in his time in hogwarts but he will deduct that it's madeline after both remus and madeline graduated. Madeline herself doesn't want it to be known, and after being reminded that the marauders will become animagus in this year from regulus's report on sirius, madeline will stop coming to the shack. Her intention in helping remus by coming to the shack has always came from her desire to help as she is determined to not turning a blind eyes to the problems that exist nearby. She never even present herself to the wolf, and only always conjuring birds and lights to entertain and distract him. She will come to help remus in other ways, and yes, she will interact more with the marauders in the future, especially with remus

Rabastan and regulus conflict is important. You all see how they're close friends, but in the canon, rabastan continues on being a faithful death eater while regulus took a lonesome path in being a death eater who is not loyal to the lord. Like, what tear them apart? What pushes regulus to be alone and decided that he could not confide with anyone? I want to point out their personality, traits, and thought process on how their path could have diverged. Maybe in canon they were really close friend until something like this happens and both of them are too stubborn and prideful to reconcile. Maybe that's why regulus can't trust anyone and chose to die alone. In this fic though, regulus and rabastan will eventually reconcile, but it will not be so soon. They need some character development before that, and due to that development, their relationship will change in a positive way. The current situation is bad though, and rabastan worsened it with his attitude. But even if rabastan explained back then, i don't think regulus would have forgiven him that easily. It will be still heartbreaking for discovering that your friend had been two timing you with your controlling mother

As any relationship in real life, the relationship between orion and walburga is complex. They have resentment against each other, but they also have common resentments against other people, which sometimes help them to understand one another and have common ground lol. And yes! Their relationship is mostly cold but they have their warm moments? It's why both regulus and sirius become so conflicted. Their house situation is like unpredictable ticking bomb for sirius, which is why sirius avoided it entirely - but it feels more like a slot machine for regulus, in a way that if he keeps trying, he will sometimes win even though he loses most of the time. Poor regulus became gambling addict since infancy.

I WAS BLUSHING TOO. Orion black is a fine specimen... who can blame us..
