"Well, hey, look on the bright side, at least the computer was the thing that glitched.” [A hand motioned to her chest to try and pull a smile from him]

       "Yeah, well that flaw or two            caused the system to glitch.            I went in to fix it and I caught            all but one mistake and it crashed."

"Because my code is flawless. Well, maybe there was a flaw or two.”

            "Nonono, i'ts---It's not that."

      [she's making it harder than it needs to be.        he really didn't want to leave his family, but,        then there was sully. he couldn't leave her,        and he wasn't quite sure moving her in with        assassins, with people who, even though        the government had given them all the okay,        there were people out there that were crazy,        he knew it would never be truly safe with        them. even with him]

        "I can't leave Sully.             I don't think it'd be best             to bring her with, either."

      ❝Oh…❞

           [ She wasn’t entirely sure how to react. She had expected him to agree. She didn’t think it was even a possibility moving to Maryland without him. ]

                            ❝      why not? Birkhoff, if this about us once again not telling you anything… then I’m sorry. But we want you to come with us. Michael needs you. Nerd, I need you.❞

        "Why am I always             getting the blame?"

"Well, we wouldn’t have to work on it. If you didn’t mess with my code.”

           [he was too busy being upset over the fact             that--yet again--nobody had bothered to tell             him anything, that he just now realised that             going with really wouldn't be an option. he             exhaled, not quite sure how to say it]

                "Look, Nikki---The offer is great,                        but---I, uh. I don't think I can go                        to Maryland."

    [ She sighed feeling terrible, as she knew he was upset even if he tried to hide it. ]

        ❝It all happened so fast, but you’re right. We should have told you sooner. Still… don’t think we’d move to a new place in Maryland without a room for Nerd…❞

         "Hey, don't you even worry about it, okay? I know for sure I'm a pain in the ass to deal with sometimes, too. You put up with me. Not 'cause you have to, either."

[Of course.          There was no other way it would have happened. She grinned even wider as he kissed her. The moment being exactly how she’d dreamed. Her heroes coming to life for just a moment. And that moment with someone she cared about. Someone that she actually was comfortable around. It was amazing.]

"I never thought…I mean, I’m not the easiest person to get along with. I…thank you."
