The whole india thing is soo weird because you ship these characters months away from their family only to bring back just Anthony?? It’s not the same as “Yes Kate is at Aubrey Hall very pregnant so Im just popping by to see how things are going and then I head back” no, this is like a 5 to 6 month on a ship for Anthony just to see what’s new, and then head back. That’s an entire year away from his wife and children!

For Fangirlish, I did a deep dive into the last few months of Bridgerton press and wrote about why it’s (hopefully) only a matter of time before Simone Ashley is confirmed to return for Season 4.

Simone Ashley is such a brilliant cookie to have been pretty vocal about wanting to return to Bridgerton. If that People’s magazine (not the most reliable source and ir appears to be quoting her from the s3 press) article is right and she won’t be back no one can blame her.

It makes no sense.

She is the Viscountess Bridgerton, the head of the household, she is part of the family. She should be in any scenes concerning the Bridgerton family.

The only way I can somehow understand her absence is IF Jonny is filming some kind of flashback scene with Luke.

That’s it.

But otherwise the show should have wrapped up her story with a bow, show us their baby and them being happy.

I’ve had it with Bridgerton, what do u mean the VISCOUNTESS BRIDGERTON is not gonna be part of the plot but Anthony is?? Is he gonna leave her in India?? What kind of plot is that? I don’t want it!

If Kate won’t be back and it’s not by the choice of Simone, that’ll be one of the dumbest shits I’ve ever heard.

I don’t want some new side plots that won’t even make sense. I want the Viscountess Bridgerton fuckers.

Not again pls i thought their season was finally over

Do you know/ can you share if Shondaland are heeding the criticisms and fixing what audiences didn't like in S3 for S4? Or is there a lot of pushback to Netflix stepping in?

There is always going to be a power struggle between Netflix and Shondaland; both have different aims for Bridgerton. Shondaland hasn't really taken any criticism on board, so don't be surprised if a S2 couple has a lot less screentime while a S3 couple will rival S4's couple's screen presence.

I made a tiktok about the whole “Lets go to India, suddenly it’s not too far , really it isn’t, it was a whole thing last season, but it’s not now, how long it’s the travel? Months but we will not say how many” thing. And some people actually believe it’s in character. Why? Because Anthony said they would get there in time and because he said it suddenly it makes sense (?) And by the way some people reacted to what I said I know believe media literacy is dead.

It’s completely out of character for BOTH of them to ditch everything and go to India. Considering Violet almost died at childbirth and Kate lost both her parents, u would believe these two would be extra careful with the pregnancy. The fics where Anthony asks Kate to stop riding horses while expecting were more accurate than the actual show.

“Its called character development” no it’s not. It’s bad writing.

Character development is Anthony not fuzzing over Francesca, or calming down with a gentle bop on the nose.

They could have sent them to Aubrey Hall. Just have them saying “yeah we know we’ve been coming back and forth from the country to town but we’re actually remaining in the country while Kate is pregnant” and that’s it.

“It’s not like he forced her”, “she agreed to go” “he is going to be with her” Anthony is not a doctor, and yeah he didn’t force her but her agreeing to go is just as out of character as him coming up with the plan.

And the thing is: according to some of the creatives Kanthony had their honeymoon in india. It didn’t make sense in the timeline. But the decoration of their bedroom is based on that. Then the show disregards all that. Jonny and Simone’s version of the honeymoon makes the most sense.

There were people speculating some kind of regency era airplane. That’s the level of suspension of disbelieve the show is at.

Also, again other than the obvious bullshit that they expected us to believe that BOTH Kate and Anthony would think that travelling to India while 3 months pregnant (on a journey that would span months) was a good idea… they also expected us to believe that the Viscount and Viscountess would have left before Frannie’s wedding AND while the Queen had a vendetta against the family??? As she tried to suss out Whistledown??

I’m still mad. As you can tell.

Although the whole speech before the “we’re going to India” convo was fucking lovely. Points for that.
