I'm a trans person from a country with a literal civil war and forced conscription happening now. makes me sick, the way things are going over here. anyway, thanks for not doing military themed stuff.
glorifying war, even in a satirical sense, will never be a goal of mine. I hope you see peace where you live and see it soon.

hi heather. tips for someone who's worried i'll regret starting hrt? the unknown of what'll happen for me is scary
oh hey that’s my department! i knew i wanted to transition at 18 and i started hrt at 23. once i finally got the prescription i left it sitting on my kitchen counter overnight bc i still wasn’t ready.
here’s the deal. or at least. here’s what helped me.
generally speaking, you weren’t going to get any permanent changes for at least six months, and you aren’t going to get any massively significant ones for longer.
if you’re transfemme:
You’ll have some advance notice, your breast buds will come in before you get visible breast tissue. At any point in the process, you can decide it’s not for you and stop. The changes at first are pretty subtle. maybe just softer skin. subtle changes to your face. you might not even be sure that they’re happening.
if you’re transmasc, I’m actually really unfamiliar with how the early transition goes, but I’m 100% sure people in my notes will let you know.
regardless. The thing that happens in the first month or two is psychological. You might feel weird for the first month as you get hormonal on your body adjusts, I know my mood was weird and i felt a little Off. but like. that evens out. and then. i’ve had the same conversation with so many trans people. this isn’t universal but it’s very common. Either a couple months in you’ll have the sudden realization oh no this isn’t what I want. Or, much more commonly, you’ll be like driving to the store, laying in bed or something, and you’ll get this very strong sense of like “oh. this is what i needed. i’m doing what ive been waiting for.” or something. it will just feel Right.
Obviously, your mileage may vary, I wasn’t 100% certain that I was doing what I needed to be doing for myself until I hit about a year on HRT. but it’s worth doing it. It’s worth trying it out for a few months and seeing how you feel.
The other thing is that you can always stop. If five years and you start going bald, you can stop the testosterone if you want. Five years in you start to hate the shape of your hips, you can stop. sure some changes are permanent but overall. you can change your mind.
