Yoongi had loved Jungkook for nearly as long as he’d known the man. They had met in high college, when Jungkook was still an awkward freshman trying to figure out what he wanted to do in life, and Yoongi was near his graduation, already signed with a music company in the city as a producer. Despite their first few awkward dates as Jungkook struggled to come to terms with his sexuality and get comfortable in his skin, they stuck together, moving in with one another in Jungkook’s sophomore year.

Everything was the both of them. Helping Jungkook come out to his family, the tears when his father was far less than supportive, Yoongi still remembers the way Jungkook had kissed him after Yoongi went toe to toe with the man, preventing a further fight and earning his respect in one fell swoop.

Halloween was the worst holiday in the world. Namjoon had outgrown the begging for candy relatively quickly, and parties had never been his thing. He was just awkward enough to make them unpleasant, and once his friends had all found their partners, it was even worse. He couldn’t even rely on them to save him from the awkwardness; he was just the third or fifth wheel.

All told, knowing that, it shouldn’t have been surprising to Namjoon that he’d forgotten it was Halloween. But he’d been working late and hadn’t thought to check his phone. So, when he got on the bus to go home at nearly midnight and found it full of people in costumes, he was surprised to say the least.

“Oh, stop complaining.” Yoongi pushed a splay of leaves out of the way, letting Hoseok pass in front of him to their designated camping area. Yoongi had come out earlier to set the tent up and get everything ready for dinner. They were near a stream, the quiet burble relaxing in the otherwise quiet night. And it was strangely quiet. Though Yoongi didn’t expect to hear many animals around a human populated camp area, he expected something. Squirrels, birds, maybe even a branch or two breaking from a nearby fox… But it was silent.

Yoongi brushed off the strange feeling and set to work starting dinner, setting up a comfortable chair for Hoseok and turning on some music.

SUMMARY; “I’m not going to marry you.” Before he could regret his choices, Jimin headed for the door, ignoring the tears that were falling down his cheek. “I’d rather wander around the desert of death than be anyone’s prisoner anymore.”

Namjoon took a deep breath to calm himself, taking the heavy, embroidered, damask napkin to wipe off his face. The light cream colour darkened quickly from the red of the wine that Jimin had thrown at him, and he angrily threw the ruined napkin aside. With a flick of his wrist he locked the doors to the dining hall before Jimin could reach them. Even with the scene Jimin was causing he wasn’t interrupting his dinner. “You should really try some of that pâté. It would be a pity to let it get cold,” He commented icily while Jimin was trying to open the doors, rattling the doorknob with his full weight and banging against them.

Jungkook stirs in his sleep. The sheets twist uncomfortably around his body, sticky from the heat of the sun filtering through the windows. In an attempt to disentangle himself, he rolls over. Hands outstretched before him, he searches for the small, curled-up body he went to sleep with.

Earthy. A musky bergamot scent that follows Namjoon wherever he goes due to the plant collection he’s amassed in his bedroom. It’s unexpected. Jungkook wrinkles his nose. He’s so sure that of the three beds he typically has to choose from, he’d fallen asleep in Yoongi’s last night.

A soft chuckle makes Jungkook peek an eye open, hands grazing against a body much larger than he expected. Skin greets his prodding fingers, so it definitely is not Yoongi who always sleeps in layers no matter how warm his room may get. Through the sleepy blur and his blinking lashes, Namjoon’s smiling face comes into view. He lays on Yoongi’s pillow, hands tucked under his head causing his glasses to sit askew on his sideways face. It does nothing to throw off the mirth behind the wire frames.

“Good morning,” Namjoon greets, voice always husky in the early morning. Jungkook grunts, scooting a bit closer. He latches his leg behind Namjoon’s to tug him in. The man goes obligingly, cuddling Jungkook into his side.

Jungkook takes in a deep breath, enjoying how Namjoon smells a bit like all of them. Hoseok’s detergent, Jungkook’s shirt, Yoongi’s sheets.

Oh yeah.

It looked thin, even curled up.

“Well who are you?” Yoongi asked, reaching down to pet the cat’s soft head. It peeked at him from over its tail, deep amber eyes large and inquisitive. It wasn’t uncommon for strays to wander into the house. Yoongi and his lover lived in a remote area, and often left their windows open. Stray cats, puppies, a squirrel or two, and even a fox once or twice, had found their way into their home.
