It’s so so bad for Christians right now😰

Last night I was just kind of idly flipping through Psalms when I reached the part of Psalm 57 where David says “God sends forth his love and his faithfulness.” And it just kinda hit me where for a moment I said to myself “You know, God is love.” Which wasn’t particularly profound, but it reminded me of the immensity of all that God has done and will do for me. Because God doesn’t just send whatever angels He can muster to help us. He doesn’t send help begrudgingly. He isn’t just sitting in heaven thinking “well if he’d listen to me he wouldn’t need my help again” or “if she hadn’t done what I told her not to she wouldn’t be in this situation.” He send us His love - He sends us Himself. And I think it hit me more than usual because it’s just fascinating to me that the Creator of the universe, the One true God would care so deeply for those He has made. And He loves us so deeply that He holds nothing back from us. He willingly laid down His life, sent Himself to save us when nothing else could.

So here’s a reminder that He cares for you beyond measure. Whatever you’re going through today, He is here, He is listening, and He is longing to help you. He is sending His love to come to your aid - He is love - He is sending you Himself. And He is the One who nothing will stand against. He is the One who can heal any affliction, save from any sin, turn around any situation, change any heart. So rest in that peace today. When you call out to your God, He isn’t just sending whatever He can to help you, He isn’t just checking you and your cry of help off of a list. He is stepping off of His throne, taking up the cross that was rightfully yours, and He is sending you Himself.

It is a new year, but is it a new you? 

Don’t feel like you must completely change yourself into a whole new person now that it’s 2019. You do not have to change your entire look, beliefs, and lifestyle. You do not have to reverse yourself into someone completely different. 

Instead, look for areas in which you would genuinely like to improve upon. Can you be wiser, kinder, or more considerate? Maybe become more self disciplined, task oriented, or patient? 

There are countless ways that we are able to develop ourselves, and instead of being forced to become someone completely different, one should instead try to become the best version of none other than themselves. 

What is it that you hope to work on within yourself? What self growth goals does 2019 bring for you?
