MBTI & Youtubers (x) Simone Giertz: ENTP
“I got interested in building robots, and I wanted to teach myself about hardware.
But building things with hardware, especially if you’re teaching yourself, is something that’s really difficult to do.
It has a high likelihood of failure and moreover, it has a high likelihood of making you feel stupid.
And that was my biggest fear at the time. So I came up with a setup that would guarantee success 100% of the time.
With my setup, it would be nearly impossible to fail. And that was that instead of trying to succeed, I was going to try to build things that would fail.
And even though I didn’t realize it at the time, building stupid things was actually quite smart.
Because as I kept on learning about hardware, for the first time in my life, I did not have to deal with my performance anxiety.
And as soon as I removed all pressure and expectations from myself, that pressure quickly got replaced by enthusiasm, and it allowed me to just play.”

Identifying xNTPs
- seem popular when you first look at them, probably attractive (it’s that pouty lip lifestyle)
- then you realize that they don’t talk to people
- then you realize that when they do talk, they talk really loudly
- then you realize, when they talk to their close friends, they won’t shut up
- except for when they’re silent for three months at a time
- then you get slapped w/ the fact that they’re A NERD (and proud of it)
- OR you never find out they’re a nerd and think everyone else is delusional for treating them like they’re the most intelligent person on the planet when clearly, this person is a big dumbass
- probably waiting for someone to do or say something interesting
- might be surrounded by people but always on the outside of the circle or latched onto one person
- EYE CONTACT. Hands down, the easiest way to know assuming they have already acknowledged your existence. I personally don’t know what to do with my eyes during a conversation so I don’t really look away. Only look at you if they’re interested.
- “No, oh wait, maybe…” is their go-to response (a conversation btwn INTPs is like so: “no, for this reason-” “no, you’re wrong because-” “no, because-” “no, I’m correct”)
- often really bored by whatever is happening outside of their head so they either won’t engage or will try to start a game or something
- always known as the funny friend
- easily annoyed, famous for glares, sometimes it’s meant as a joke
- in class, they wait for someone else to answer the teacher’s questions first before deciding they’ll take initiative when no one else does  — > applies to most things
- cuddly but in a particular way, likely want to be the one to initiate all forms of bodily contact once they’re close to you
- might not even like cats but 100% of people will read them as a cat-person
- intelligent but forgets a lot of shit because they just don’t care enough or haven’t had to remember that piece of knowledge in 3 yrs.
- when they’re passionate, they’re all in, the edge of the multiverse is the limit / when they’re not, they’re gonna sleep for the next 100 yrs. and will growl at you if you wake them
- may wake up early but won’t do anything until 7:00PM-4:00 AM because it’s peak performance hour
- great at finding other people’s stuff, great at losing their own
- respond to your questions like a CIA agent, you’re on a need to know basis
- but also will randomly spill all their secrets at 3 AM
- when someone says they’re friends w/ them they respond either like 1) “we’re friends?” *confusion* or 2) “we’ve been in love since we met”
- their good friends know who their crush is before they know
- text you immediately but often forget you exist if you don’t constantly remind them (it’s okay, they forget they exist)
- love you lots but are also trying not to be too attached
- kinda nice but also analyzing your every move and storing it in their mental bank
- they will remember really specific things about you and will either use this to tell when you’re lying or to get you great birthday presents
- don’t trust you but supposedly they should give people the benefit of the doubt
- if you insult them, they will look at you blankly because they’re trying to figure out if you meant that as an insult, if they care about you, and if they care at all
- competitive but unmotivated at the same time
- play hard, play hard some more, continue to play, work non-stop for 22 hrs.  until something is perfect, never work again

THE ULTIMATE MBTI MASTERPOST
As I am incredibly tired of seeing people:
Type people/characters/themselves with letters rather than functions.
Spread ridiculous stereotypes.
Trust tests without reading the description of their type.
Think that their MBTI type changes.
I could go on and on and on… I’ve decided to make a MBTI masterpost that will help everyone who wants to introduce themselves to MBTI. If you have any doubts I’ll be pleased to solve them.
STEP ONE: Break all stereotypes you’ve heard of.
I won’t let you introduce yourself to MBTI without first clearing your mind from all those shitty stereotypes the world has been feeding you with. I’m gonna do you a favour and leave this beautiful post here: The most common reasons of mistyping. Read it. You can also check Innacurate stereotypes out!
STEP TWO: It’s all about the functions.
First of all you need to understand what functions are, what different types you can find, how they work, how they are structured, etc.
This post is important, clear and a fundamental base of MBTI knowledge. Don’t skip this step. It’s a key part to understanding how it works. MBTI is all about thought process and this post explains perfectly how it works.
A very detailed explanation on how functions work, engage in and interact with the world. WARNING: This is explained in a quite ‘scientific’ way and if it’s only going to confuse you more, don’t read it.
How are the cognitive functions structured? Or: how functions work depending on where they are placed.
And here you can understand how functions compliment one another.
Another explanation just in case you didn’t get it yet.
This post breaks some widespread MBTI stereotypes and explains more in detail how functions work.
A tip to know which is someone’s dominant function.
What the third/tertiary function is like.
What does the tertiary function do?
The difference between shadow functions and the inferior function.
Even more information about functions!
Understanding functions: An explanation of all functions.
How each function works in all four positions:
Ne / Se / Ni / Si / Ti / Fi / Te / Fe
More posts about functions (I am aware that not all functions are here):
Fe: High vs Low Fe / Does Fe just go along with everything?
Fi: Fi’s inner morals
Ni: Ni doms: What if they have no vision or plan? / What are their stress points? / Mystical? / Questions about it / How to spot a Ni dom / Telling posers from the real thing
Si: Is it always traditional? / How can you tell if someone is using high Si? / Why does Si follow the rules? / Revisiting past hobbies / Comfort in similarity to past memories
Ti: What Ti doms are like
Mixing up some functions:
Fe/Fi: Assertiveness / How to tell them apart / Fe dom vs Fi dom / Expressing emotions / Self expression / What they do / Wanting success / Fe from Fi’s perspective / Tell them apart / What motivates them / Fe vs Fi: Argument
Te/Ti: Te vs Ti
Si/Ni: Future planning / Symbolism / Symbolism (part 2)
Si/Se: Memories (part 1) / Memories (part 2) / Memories (part 3)
Ni/Ne: Ni dom vs Lower Ne / What drives them / Imagining the future / Telling them apart / Understanding intuition
Want some fun posts to learn about functions? Here you go!
Functions in real life, more specifically in a theme park!
Understanding functions with Winnie de Pooh!
Functions ultrasymplified.
STEP THREE: Finally! The types.
I’m gonna keep this short, because you already should know enough just based on the functions.
A cool ass post with all personality type descriptions.
Websites with descriptions (may contain stereotypes, not my fault): 16Personalities / personalitypage / truity / the types at a glance
More stuff about each type! because you never know enough
Type comparison, in case you’re confused.
Interesting shit:
How each type reacts to failure or mistakes.
Types and isolation.
Unhealthy types.
Unhealthy types in action.
Common things about each type.
How does each type remember things?
Post apocalyptic survival by type.
The 16 types in the zombie apocalypse.
This is just amazing, click it.
STEP FOUR: So you wanna type someone…
Things to remember: stereotypes are nasty, letters are irrelevant.
Steps you need to follow in order to type people and what to pay attention to/how to figure out their dominant function.
What to pay attention to when you want to type someone.
Even more stuff to pay attention to when you wanna type someone, mostly to figure out their dominant function.
EVEN MORE stuff to help you type people.
STEP FIVE: Developing your functions, loops and giving advice!
Your functions balance each other out and finding a perfect balance by developing all of your functions will help you be a healthier human being. This could also help you give advice to friends if you know their type!
First of all: How we develop our personality types along the years.
How to develop the functions.
MBTI by developing inferior/fourth functions.
However, undeveloped functions aren’t the only issue you could face. Sometimes people find themselves in what we call ‘loops’. Woah, I know… Loops? What’s that? Am I in one? How do I get out of it? Do not worry, here you have some more info:
What are function loops?
The different kinds of function loops.
Each type and it’s own loop.
How to get out of it? Easy. Spot what you do and avoid doing it. Be self aware. Yeah, that’s literally it.
MBTI can be very fun:
If you love zodiac posts, imagine finding a bunch of them which you can actually identify with. (Sorry to all zodiac believers if it offended any of you.) Well, I am gonna leave you some of that here:
MBTI squads.
Some more MBTI squads.
Just click this, you’ll dig it.
Hella great MBTI posts of all kinds.
Most to least posts.
More posts that you could be interested in.
Relationships/friendships between types.
MBTI experiences.
My ultimate favorite MBTI related blogs:
readingontheroof and fortruinous: They are friends who answer interesting questions about MBTI from time to time and also do ‘more to least likely’ posts! Their typing of tv characters is also amazing! Probably the two blogs I trust the most.
funkymbtifunction: Even though I don’t agree with some of their character typings, they have a huge amount of posts on functions, how they work and a hell lot of useful information that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.
myersandbriggs: This blog is like a MBTI encyclopedia. You’ll find so much stuff here about every type. The research they do in order to find new interesting stuff to post is amazing.
infj-mbti: Very interesting and diverse posts. Also pretty well organized, unlike other blogs.
And that’s it for this post! You’re all welcome.

Thoughts on Stereotypes
Tumblr media
I had a long discussion at work this morning about how strange people are, in the sense that we all choose something as our safety zone, that matters to us, and that we do not want to see change. This behavior does not automatically indicate the presence of Si, however, because that is not what Si is.
For the most part, and I’ve made this mistake too, I think our inclination is to assume that certain behaviors and proclivities indicate certain cognitive functions when this may not be the case. There is a lot of bleed-over between functions when you take into consideration the personal motives, interests, etc., of the person using them. That is how you can have two people of the exact same personality type who are literally nothing alike. Stereotypes exist, and are often wrong, because it assumes that everyone fits neatly into a single profile, and that these behaviors will be exhibited in everyone of that type.
There is some mild truth in stereotypes in the latter regard, but it is completely untrue in the wider scope of life, because of our uniqueness. And, our own bias comes into play somewhat, because once we define ourselves as being a particular type, it’s difficult not to measure others against ourselves – well, that person CANNOT be MY TYPE BECAUSE…
I interact with quite a few ISFJs, online and in real life. You would never guess that any of them are the same type! Some are more literal, others more dreamy; some really care about family and others don’t give it a second thought; some are beset with wanderlust and others prefer their imagination; I know at least one who can argue you logically into the ground and can hold her own with any NT type.
Personality typing is difficult because there are so many variables; and we make mistakes when we try and fit EVERY LITTLE THING WE DO into a specific function. Is that thing I do Fe? Fi? Ti? Ne? DOES IT MEAN I’M NOT WHAT I THINK I AM?! No, it doesn’t. The reason profiles are often so wrong are because they are written with a specific ideal in mind, a person who would act a certain way only if their functions developed in an environment free of external factors and corrupting influences – but also free of imagination and creativity, so that INFJs are floaty unicorns and ISTJs are robots, and ENTPs are inventors and ESFPs are potential tramps. But real people are not profiles. Real people have all kinds of factors influencing their behavior, their decisions, their motivations, their goals.
So, you can be an INTJ and cry over a movie. You can be an ISFJ and move around a lot. Behavior does not indicate type. How you process things mentally and interact with the outside world indicates type.
Si - Internal Sensing, focusing on abstracting in the sensory realm.
Ni - Internal Intuition, focusing on abstracting in the symbolic realm.
Ti - Internal Thinking, focusing on abstracting in the logical realm.
Fi - Internal Feeling, focusing on abstracting in the ethical realm.
Se - External Sensing, focusing on perceivable sensory reality.
Ne - External Intuition, focusing on perceiving connections in symbolic reality.
Te - External Thinking, focusing on judging through objective facts.
Fe - External Feeling, focusing on judging through objective ethics.

Here’s Which Myers-Briggs Type You’re Most Likely To Mistype As: ENTP
Most likely to mistype as: INTP
Why the mistype happens: ENTPs lead with extroverted intuition, which is an idea-oriented function rather than a people-oriented one – for this reason, the ENTP does not require as much social interaction as the average extrovert. This type prefers the company of others who they can debate and brainstorm with – they’d rather be alone than in the company of those who do not stimulate them intellectually. To differentiate between the INTP and the ENTP, a good trick is to examine which tertiary function they’re most comfortable with. An ENTP is often adept at tuning into the feelings of those around them, thanks to their tertiary extroverted feeling, but they are uncomfortable relying on tried-and-true methods to get things done. An INTP is more aware than the ENTP of their physical needs but finds it quite difficult to adequately assess what those around them are feeling.
Also likely to mistype as: ENTJ
Why the mistype happens: ENTPs are proficient at accomplishing whatever goals they set their minds to – and their determination often causes them to act like a judger in the pursuit of those goals. This distinction is clarified by learning about cognitive functions – ENTPs lead with extroverted intuition, which enjoys basking in a world of possibilities, whereas ENTJs lead with extroverted thinking, which values efficiency and getting things done – whether it’s an over-arching goal they’ve set their minds on or a simple routine matter. ENTPs are much more likely to let the little things slide. They are determined, but only when they’ve set their minds to something – otherwise they couldn’t care less.
Types that are most likely to mistype as ENTP: INTP, ENFP, ENTJ

“The justification of art is the internal combustion it ignites in the hearts of men and not its shallow, externalized, public manifestations. The purpose of art is not the release of a momentary ejection of adrenaline but is, rather, the gradual, lifelong construction of a state of wonder and serenity.”

Fine Distinctions / Enneagram Type Seven
Excerpted from ”The Dynamic Enneagram” by Tom Condon Copyright 2009, 2013 by Thomas Condon Self Preservation Sevens • Self-Preservation Sevens are confusing since they tend to be highly sociable and gravitate toward groups like Social Subtypes do. Specialize in “chosen family” in that they tend to create a network of people around them. • They enjoy sharing on a circuit of interesting or like-minded people. Other people are a source of information and stimulation; interested in the latest gossip and everyone’s news. • To the Seven, the group is a comforting barricade against the dangers of the outside world, a bulwark against an infringing universe. • Can be loyal, if slightly detached, friends; protective towards those within their inner circle and good about staying in touch. • Canny and practical, they look for the deals and the loopholes; can enjoy bargains, sales or getting something for nothing. • Equally well-versed in and fascinated by a large variety of subjects. May lack depth but have a breadth of knowledge. • Tend to depersonalize, talk in abstract or intellectual terms and don’t explicitly toot their own horn. • This subtype is associated with the cliche of the “party animal,” compulsive socializers who want to enjoy perpetual good times. • In NLP terms, Self-Preservation Sevens are “activity-oriented.” Sharing activity with others is a way to make contact or to avoid personal intimacy.  • Can use people for stimulation and drop them when they stop being exciting. • Some fear being alone and will use others as a protection against solitude. • More likely to have an unconscious self-image of being abandoned, uncared for or left to their own devices. Abandon others out of fear of being abandoned. • Can live beyond their means and be chronically in debt; self-induced cycles of bounty and scarcity. • Could equate being disciplined and financially successful with being dull and stodgy. The Seven rebels by staying “free” (i.e. irresponsible and broke). Intimate Sevens • Intimate Sevens tend to have rich imaginations and are exceptionally creative. • They embellish reality with fantasy; see daily life through a veil of imagination. • Often think and communicate in stories. • Can see intimate relationships as shared experimental adventures. • Avid learners who are open to adventure and new experience. • Dreamers in the best and worst sense of the word. • Intimate Sevens tend to be suggestible and can be swayed in their positions and opinions. • Trend spotters who seek the new with the enthusiasm of a faddist; they filter reality through fantasy and the fantasy is what they purchase. • Sevens with this subtype are often more explicitly narcissistic. They tend to personalize their experiences, talk more about themselves and use the word “I” more than other subtypes. • Can be tentative about commitments and have a wandering eye. • May romanticize people outside their primary relationship as a way to avoid the limits and boredom of mundane life with the same old someone. • Can be more involved with their fantasy of their partner than with the real person. • Intimate Sevens can easily move from relationship to relationship searching for the right person or an “all time high.” • Sexual freebooters; Don Juan and Don Juaness patterns are possible. • Some report having high expectations of their fantasized partner and being easily disillusioned. • aware of putting too much pressure on the relationship. • Some intimate Sevens do stay in long term relationships. They may be interested in the mysteries and vagaries of love as well as genuinely love their partner. Social Sevens • Healthy Social Sevens are notably steady, practical and accountable to others. • This subtype brings Sevens more conscience and follow-through. • When extraverted, they can enjoy social celebrations, fine wine and good food, storytelling, jokes, and travel, all with an obvious gusto. • They can be unusually grounded and faithful in their responsibilities. They are relatively at ease with their commitments and are often stable and generous. • They are sometimes motivated by idealism, serving something beyond themselves. This subtype can have a stronger connection to One. • Protective of group members; want every member to have a good time. If someone causes trouble for the group, a Social Seven may react with a flash of temper against the interloper or troublemaker. • Can be generous, protective friends. • Feel torn between their duty to others and a desire to escape. • Tend to feel codependently responsible for people close to them but experience that as a confining burden. • Can be highly irresponsible, over promise and under deliver. • A number of Social Sevens are firstborns or come from a large family where they were given a lot of responsibility and little guidance. • Others recall having to compensate for codependent or unstable parents. • Social Sevens sometimes resemble Sixes, because of their dutiful quality and their propensity for feeling guilty. • Social Sevens with an Eight wing tend to rebel against their sense of burden and can sometimes act terse and angry toward those they feel burdened by. Seven with a Six Wing • Healthy Sevens with a Six wing are responsible, faithful, endearing, and funny. • More accountable to others, oriented to relationships; loyal friends. • Steady in their commitments as the Six wing brings a longer sense of time and more continuity to their perceptions. • They often have more conscience, are hardworking and idealistic. • Often funny or enjoy a good laugh. An amazing number of comedians are Sevens with this wing. The humor can have a playful, subversive quality. • Can be openly vulnerable and have an unguarded, tender sweetness. • Able to empathize with a wide range of people and experiences. • Often late bloomers. Some stall at the gate of adulthood, avoiding expressions of their power or competence because they unconsciously doubt themselves. • Some have trouble expressing anger even when they have been wronged. • Might exhibit some of the doubting, ambivalent qualities of a Six. Can have surprise episodes of anxious insecurity. • Aware of authority figures but tend to evade or finesse them. Can be unduly respectful towards traditions and authority structures. • They can feel (neurotically) guilty more easily than Sevens with an Eight wing • Can have distinct paranoid streaks that they are blind to; their self-image is of someone who is positive, forward-looking and adventuresome. • Project their conscience onto others and then act irresponsibly; can display a frantic-all-over-the-place mentality. • Prone to codependence even to the point of enduring physical or mental abuse. Seven with an Eight Wing • Healthy Sevens with an Eight wing are often gregarious and expansive. • Self-confident in worldly matters and have few qualms about getting what they want. • Often talented at creating something out of nothing – perhaps by inventing a successful persona for themselves or by creating a thriving career by accident after spontaneously seizing upon an opportunity. • Exceptionally materialistic. “Living well is the best revenge” is one possible motto for this wing. In a hasty, rapacious hurry to get what they want. • Loyal to their friends and can leap aggressively to their defense. • Generous, often sharing what they have; want everyone in their orbit to enjoy their sense of bounty and range of interests. • Sevens with an Eight wing are generally more kinesthetic and auditory and less consciously visual than Sevens with a Six wing. • Can be demanding, impatient and self-centered. • Thin-skinned; may require that the people in their lives candy-coat the truth, telling theSeven only what he wants to hear. • Can be hypocritical – moralizing to others about behavior that they practice • Some have hair-trigger tempers and can suddenly erupt. Their anger may pass just as quickly and the Seven then returns to a baseline of good cheer. • Some tend to age-regress, sometimes to a very young age. Can have the quality of a small child stuck in the “terrible twos,” behaving like a demanding toddler who wants instant gratification. • They unconsciously anticipate being frustrated and deprived and preemptively strike against the possibility. • Can grow delusional and grandiose; may love to hear themselves talk about big schemes that never come to pass. Seven’s Connection to Five • The connection to Five brings Sevens sobriety, perspective and the power to integrate and internalize their experience – to digest what they have eaten. • Helps Sevens become calm and detached, to see the Big Picture. • More willing to accept the painful aspects of their experience; more likely to seek and find their own depths. • An introverted need to spend time alone; may do this ritually or periodically. • Sevens can also be bookish; may have distinct intellectual interests or embark on a search for philosophical wisdom. • Some Fiveish Sevens have an almost aesthetic distaste for excess. They could, for instance, be offended by how much something costs. • While Sevens tend to be naturally expansive and generous, they can have an incongruous cheap streak. Could be frugal and then go on spending sprees. • The connection to Five supports escapism, stinginess and depressive tendencies. • Unhealthy Sevens will check themselves out of difficult situations, withdrawing into their minds like a Five. Intellectualize their feelings out of existence. • May detach from people and commitments with alarming speed. • Defensive vanishing acts; can skate away when things get tough. • Prone to withdrawn depressions, especially as part of a cycle of highs and lows. • May have trouble handling and expressing their emotions or be emotionally drybeneath their high spirits. • More likely to have mental addictions – to information, ideas, fantasies. Defensively retreat into abstraction. Seven’s Connection to One • Helps Sevens make appropriate, worthwhile, comfortable commitments. • Brings discipline and follow-through; Sevens do things well and work hard. • Oneish Sevens are often idealistic and can sacrifice for a cause or principle. • Solution focused; search for “win/win” outcomes to problems. • Oneish discipline helps Sevens give their lives a stable form. • Helps with appetite, brings restraint and self-control. • Oneish Sevens are good at sober, balanced critical evaluation; while they’re generous and sort for the positive they have a discerning, critical eye. • Can begin to confuse discipline with repression, build a jail that they need to escape from, meanwhile blaming their confinement on outside sources. • Some can be critical and dogmatic with a perfectionistic streak. • Might start to think in black and white; may become obsessive about detail. • The connection to One can also bring self-criticism and an overactive conscience. • Sevens who project their Oneness can see Ones as oppressive symbols or foils.“They don’t want me to have fun.” May provoke judgmental reactions in others. • Can latch on to a Big Idea, a future possibility or principle that the Seven is certain will resolve their present discomfort. The deluded, obsessed mentality of a compulsive gambler; excuse themselves from present responsibilities. • Can be libertine in their youth and then adopt a pious, conservative lifestyle as they age. Try to rein in their appetites with rules and morality. • Might be drawn to religious or ideological fundamentalism. Could be preachy and self-righteous. • “Do as I say not as I do.” Hypocritical. Okay, hot take? Bisexual and pansexual are functionally synonyms, and the decision to ID as one or the other comes down to personal preference and interpretation, and any attempt to further separate the two is driving a wedge between two communities that should have nothing but love and solidarity for one another.
We have more in common than not, and the words for our respective identities should not be pitted against each other.

The Enneagram, Simplified
Below is a simplified overview of the Enneagram types and their wings, useful for introducing people to the theory objectively – I tried my best to keep all descriptions unbiased and to-the-point. They should be okay to print, too, depending on the formatting. Translations into other languages are available in the notes. With that out of the way, the rest is below the cut!

5 Benefits of Journaling
Tumblr media
Nowadays with technological advancements, journaling may seem like an obsolete practice. But, journaling can actually have many benefits to your overall wellbeing and is also a great way to document your milestones and memories.
I personally discovered the benefits of journaling when I was transitioning to boarding school and college. I knew that I wanted a way to document my experiences and have something to look back on. There are many benefits to journaling, but keep reading to see my top 5.
1. You develop mindfulness of your past and current emotions and future anxieties.
The months leading up to leaving home for high school, I realized I had a lot of anxieties and fears that I constantly thought about. It could have been the fact that my brother had a lot of spare journals lying in his room or my desire to rant but not feel like I’m burdening another person, but…..
