It’s been a few months now, how’s it been? You may be curious as to how things are going, and we’ve got answers!
-When will Brawl Minus 5.0 be coming out?
We are nearing the end of 5.0’s development, but we’re not quite there yet. We’ve been using all the time we have to ensure things are as polished as can be, addressing roster balance and fixing as many bugs as we can. All of our hard work will be shown off this December, so be ready! Doc and Ridley are ready to brawl, and extra care has been put into making Giga Bowser and Wario Man feel extra powerful! How, you ask? You’ll have to stay tuned for more info!
-The final Brawl Minus 4.2 Official Tournament!
When can you expect to hear more about the newcomers? Why, on November 26th (at 6PM EST/3PM PST) during the last official tournament of version 4.2! This free to enter tournament is going to have Brawl Minus’ biggest prize pot yet: $300! (So far!) distributed among the top 3 players, all generously donated by Brawl Minus’ playerbase! The best of the best of Minus’ competition has been battling it out in 4.2 for five years, and this is the big finale! Want in? Well come on and join us in the Brawl Minus Discord! Check out the server Events in the top left, or the Tourney channel for more info. Even if you can’t make it, this will certainly be a brawl you won’t want to miss! We hope to see you there!

-Will Waluigi be updated?
We’re happy to announce that Brawl Minus 5.0 will be receiving the incredible recent updates to the Waluigi mod! KingJigglypuff has been carefully integrating the changes into Minus’ feel and needless to say, he’s looking in much better form! Take a look!

12th Anniversary Update
Hello Minus community, The 12th anniversary of Minus is upon us and it’s been a while since a forum post of any kind came out, much less an official tournament announcement, and we sincerely apologize for the lack of communication. Moving forward, we will convey our plans and updates more frequently, so we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the continued support. -Where we’ve been Ever since the pandemic, our already slow development schedule became even slower. We tried to deal with this by hosting official Minus tournaments and the sporadic tweets for the upcoming new art. Of course in the end, it was decided that the best course of action was to halt the tournaments until the next version came out. Our intentions weren’t to make you wait, however. -The current development The good news is that development has drastically sped up in production and since then we’ve been making some great strides, including having some new and old members rejoin in the form of Eon, fudgepop, and Nezha. With their help, alongside the renewed motivation of the rest of the team, the next version of Minus will be one of the greatest to date! Of course, if you have skills with Brawl modding, we're always open for more hands to help. You can apply through our forums over at brawlminus.net or use the Brawl Minus discord and message our leader, Pin Clock. -What’s coming: Brawl Minus 5.0 Let’s recap a little on what’s to come, as well as talk about some new things. As you know, Ridley and Dr. Mario are our two newcomers for the next version, being worked on by KingJigglypuff and Maye, respectively. Wario-Man and Giga Bowser are also being Minusified for the next version thanks to the works of KingJigglypuff, Sammi Husky, ENB, and more, so stay tuned for those 4. We also plan to add new special modes that will be brand new to Brawl mods, so an additional thanks to Sammi for that. Additionally, starting the next version, we will be using a Project+ based Dolphin build as well as file/coding structure moving forward (while still aiming for 1:1 between Wii and Dolphin in every aspect that we can). This will allow us to do more for Minus that we couldn’t do with our current method. In doing so, we’ll be able to take the QoL changes like making Gecko codes easier to add. This version will be the same Minus you love, but with a much more refined engine allowing for further customization! -How we’re gonna get there To better aid us in this revived development period, we’ve made a couple of changes to how development and testing go. The biggest change is that we’re now using GitHub for both development changes as well as playtesting changes. This is so no change goes unseen and so we can always revert changes in case something goes awry, like what happened with 4.1 and our attempts to correct that error for 4.2. The builds will be separate to make sure that no playtest changes go through to the dev build accidentally, meaning what we release will be prim and proper this time around! -Release date Our plan for the next version is to release it sometime late Summer 2022, assuming all goes to plan and at the current pace. However should it not, we estimate the latest time of release will be December 2022. So no matter what, we want to release it this year. Version 5.0 won’t be the last update for Brawl Minus as there are plans for following versions that’ll include bug fixes, new artwork, new modes, a new stage system, and maybe a character…. or two. That about wraps it up for this update. Again, we want to thank you all who have supported us and this mod, we wouldn’t still be here without you. We hope Brawl Minus 5.0 will be worth the wait! Break the Limits! ~Brawl Minus Dev Team

Brawl Minus 4.2 Hotpatch!!
INCOMING HOTFIX!
Hello smashers! Community feedback showed us some pretty glaring issues with 4.2, and just like the (generally) icey winds on the season, we swiftly come to fix them! For hotpatches however, we only focus on game-breaking stuff! So don’t expect more patches unless it severely effects the game, so please be patient with any requests or minor fixes until 4.3 (or whatever it’ll be called). Please understand! Fixes include:
Fixed Pichu being T-Posed when Jab-Locked.
Fixed GC ROB’s Gyro from crashing the game.
Pikachu’s F-Smash now grows correctly.

Brawl Minus 4.2 Release!!
Happy Holidays, smashers!
Our present to you this year is an update to Brawl Minus, with the theme of rejuvenation! After some hiccups with 4.1, we really listened to the community feedback and changed Minus accordingly. Since then, us here working on Brawl Minus are much more motivated to make Brawl Minus a much better game! This time around, we’ve really cracked down on some nuances in character balances, as well as brand new experimental move-sets with the likes of Lucario and his introduction to Focus Energy! We’ve also added some flavour to this Holiday cake by adding brand new costumes, as well as the return of SEP! (Stage Expansion Pack)
Also, now that we’re with good standing with community support with this version of Minus, expect tournaments again soon! From the ashes, our revival stems from rising to the limits! Yet even then, those limits shall be broken!
Changelog is in the forum post: https://forums.brawlminus.net/threads/brawl-minus-4-2-complete-changelog.1560/ As always, download links are available to the sidebar on the left!

Brawl Minus: 7th Anniversary Tournament
It all began with an idea.. the idea from a special person in our hearts, “Budget Player Cadet” the man who started it all. “We’ve seen Brawl+ change the way brawl is played. But have we ever had a project which tries, purposefully, to break the **** out of everything and just piss all over the currently accepted rules of professional game modification? Well, now we do.”
So here we are, celebrating Brawl MINUS in it’s entirety, with our 5th official Netplay Tournament!! Celebrating the 7th anniversary of MINUS and the years went by breaking things and breaking them until it’s is fixed.
For Tournament Registration, click here
And for our prize pools: 1st place: $50
2nd place: $30
3rd place: $20
Rules are as follows:
1v1 Tournament, Brawl Minus 4.0BC
Items are set to Off and None.
Stock and Time are set to 4 stock and 8 minutes respectively.
Regular sets are best of 3 matches. The semi-finals (winners and losers), finals (winners and losers), and Grand Finals sets will be in best of 5 format.
In the Grand Finals, the entrant from the Winner’s Bracket has to win one set of best of 5, while the entrant from the Loser’s Bracket must win two sets.
Blatant stalling is prohibited. What is considered stalling is up to the Tournament Host to determine.
Suicide Rule: If a match ends by both remaining players losing their last stock at the same time due to a suicide move (EX: Flame Choke, Galactic Crusher) then the initiator of the suicide move is considered the winner of the match regardless of what the results screen says, and no tiebreaker is played.
Blind Picks: the first character selection of a set must be without prior knowledge of the opponent’s character selection for both players.
Dave’s Stupid Rule: No player can counter pick a stage he or she has previously won on unless agreed upon by both players.
Gentleman’s clause: any stage may be played on so long as both players agree to it, including banned stages. This can be used in tandem with Dave’s Stupid Rule (DSR).
Timed out matches will be determined by the remaining number of lives, then percentage of the current stock. In the event of a percentage tie, replay that match with one life and 3 minutes of time, using the same characters on the same stage. Any Sudden Death match is strictly not to be played.
Stages Round 1: Each player strikes 2 stages, and the last stage remaining is chosen. The strike order is 1-2-2-1. In other words, one person strikes one, the second person strikes twice, and the first strikes last. Round 2: Counterpick stages can now be selected. The Winner of the last round strikes 3 stages, and the loser of the last round can choose any remaining stage to play the second match on.
Starters:
Battlefield
Final Destination
Pokemon Stadium 2
Smashville
Dreamland 64
Counterpicks:
Spear Pillar
Lavender Town
Yoshi’s Story (shows up on SSS as Yoshi’s Island Melee)
Fountain of Dreams
Warioware
As always fellow MINUS users, don’t forget to have fun and BREAK THE LIMITS!!

Hey all you limit breakers, welcome to the new front page for all things Minus/Zeus.
You may know me as the guy who obnoxiously yells at you as you play Brawl Minus 4.0bc. I hope to post about cool Minus happenings and maybe even slip in a development update or two (don’t tell anyone, it’ll be our little secret).
I’d like to this use this first post to thank Glitch for tirelessly running the old site as well as building us this beautiful brand new one you’re reading right now.
If you have any suggestions or feedback, let us know in the comments as we’ll be improving the site fairly frequently.
