Emiliano had once been one of her closest friends, not surprising given her already close relationship to the de la Cruz family as a whole. How much of her life had she spent in the halls of their house simply due to Lucky? They had both started off together on the medic role and that had bonded them before they started being pulled in different directions with how they viewed the Family and what they wanted from it. "Sounds like some things haven't changed with you." Alessandra let out a huff of a laugh.
She allowed him to settle next to her, to join her and for a moment she could almost pretend like no time had passed. But then he spoke and the illusion was shattered. "I know. I heard from someone else at work." She said quietly, letting the sting slip through the words. She had heard from others about Dr. de la Cruz's last day. She had heard from others in the Family of his rise to capo. She'd heard from everyone but him. "I guess I should say congrats on the promotion to capo."
Tumblr media
Emiliano retained information like no other. Photographic memory, his natural gift of paying attention to the small details. He expected nothing but excellence from himself; a fact that most people that knew him was aware of. Somehow, their password had disappeared from his mind. Undoubtedly a consequence of what they no longer were, but once had been. He'd once cherished their friendship, but nowadays, it felt like Alessandra was a stranger. "Lucky for us, I don't care if you let me or not." He teased, though if she wanted to be by herself, he would leave.
Moving to sit down, Emil sipped from the beer, never a big fan of the drinks. Alas, he'd worked his last shift at the hospital that night, therefore, he could use it. "I probably should have said something earlier, but tonight was my last shift at the hospital." He mumbled before he placed the beer on the ground and leaned down to lay next to Alessandra, his eyes closed though, instead of watching the sky.

Alessandra hadn't expected the topic of the impending marriage to come up. Truthfully she'd been so caught up in the attacks on the Family, Nico forcefully taking power, and the Hollow's actions growing bolder to even consider that her arranged marriage was a topic of concern. Silence stretched between them as Alessandra shifted and pulled her legs against her chest, taking a hearty sip of her wine. "Why are you bringing this up now?" She asked, finally breaking the silence. "I know things got stalled, but I have a meeting with him in a few days. A dinner. And I can fix things, Gi." She'd make things better and make her dad proud.
Tumblr media
"Yes, honey there is something on my mind, but it's not exactly what you think."  Her fingers slipped around the base of the wine glass, sighing, the consequences of their father’s sins bearing down on her. It was an inherited weight, a marriage proposal to unite the Family and Echo— an agreement made ages ago that she was now responsible for seeing through. A deal that was steeped in tradition and required duty to family, the very virtues she was fighting for in the boardroom. An agreement that could potentially be opened back up just to spite her.
Giada leaned forward and reached out for her sister's hand, features softening as she held her gaze. “I know we have discussed this time and time again, and I’m going to be frank with you, but first I need to know for sure, do you still choose to go through with this marriage arrangement?"

There had once been a time where the two of them had worked together. They'd called on each other when the blood had been too much and they needed another hand. But, everything was changed now. With his sister dead and the fingers already pointed at her organization, Alessandra doubted he would ever look at her without that very same suspicion in his gaze. She was now rooted firmly in the camp of the enemy. And she didn't blame him for thinking that.
"No. Especially not in our life." Alessandra commented, it had made the main news but in the shadows it had spread like wildfire. She hadn't heard any of the others talk about it outright, she hadn't heard of who had been assigned the task or even of Nico giving the orders. But it didn't take too many leaps to suspect the Family behind it.
Alessandra shook her head, concern in her gaze genuine and growing now. "Because I give a shit." If he believed her or not was out of her control, but Alessandra meant it. From what she'd heard, Taylor had been a medic like herself, she hadn't deserved that. And Tyson was... well maybe not a friend, but he wasn't a stranger and he and his family hadn't deserved this either. "I don't care what you say out loud, Tyson. You have every right to think what you want of me and the Family, but I am sorry about your sister. She didn't deserve to get caught up in it."
Tumblr media
He didn’t look up at first. Just sat there at the bar, one hand wrapped around a sweating glass of something amber that wasn’t hitting like it should, and the other slowly turning the condensation ring beneath it. When she said his name, he stilled — just barely — like someone hearing a noise in the distance and trying to place whether it meant trouble.
Tyson turned his head, gaze lifting to find her standing there like a ghost from a different life. One that smelled more like antiseptic and burnt adrenaline, not this place full of smoke and stale jukebox blues. He didn’t smile. Didn’t invite her to sit. “Alessandra.”
Her name was neutral on his tongue, but only just. There was a flicker of something in his eyes — recognition, yes, but laced with suspicion. He clocked everything in an instant. The pause before she came over. The way she hovered. Her tone, carefully composed. “I figured word would get around.” His voice was rough, tired, maybe more from restraint than emotion. “Not exactly the kind of thing that stays quiet.”
He took a slow sip of his drink before setting it down again with a soft clink. His posture was relaxed, but it was the kind of relaxed that said he was five seconds away from bolting or blowing up. Maybe both. “You here because you actually give a shit,” he asked, blunt as a scalpel, “or because you’re worried what I might start saying out loud?” There wasn’t anger in the words — not yet. Just weariness. And maybe, buried deep, the aching need to know who the hell he could still trust.

Ayla nodded quickly, not needing Tommy to explain more. It seemed that he had no other family besides through his in-laws and there was a sadness in that fact that Ayla didn't think Tommy needed to explain more. "Got it. I understand completely." She gave a gentle smile, hoping it came across as comforting. He had lost his sister in a horrible accident, and a brother in law who he had to grapple with the fact that he was the next of kin to this man. It only made the situation that much sadder and Ayla didn't want to add to his troubles.
"Not at all, I was actually on my way out. Just wait here, I'll go get it and sign it out for you." Ayla didn't need to bring him back with her and to go through the process of the paperwork to take the final belongings of his brother in law. She went back into the hallways of the precinct, emerging about 15 minutes later with a cardboard box. "So, they let me sign it all out for you. There's nothing else they will be bothering you about." She smiled softly and held the box close to her chest. "I'm actually done here for the day. Did you want to go get a drink?" Ayla didn't think Tommy needed to be alone right now, much less being sent off alone with all the things left in the world that belonged to his brother in law. "We could go for coffee or uh -" Her gaze took in his current state wondering if this was a good idea or not. "Or something stronger?"
Tumblr media
A soft smile curled at the corners of his lips, and he pulled his hood off before raking his fingers through messy curls. "Yeah, uh -- he didn't have much family other than..." he motioned lazily to himself and then in the air beside him. He and the man had been rather close over the years that he and Taylor had been together (and not together, seeing as they'd never been far out of proximity with one another for all the years they'd been married regardless of if they were separated or not). All through that time, neither a sibling nor a relative had been around, so he considered himself the closest next of kin so to speak. Depressing, wasn't it?
"Only if I ain't takin' you away from something else," he remarked lightly. "I don't mind waiting. Seriously, ain't like I got much else goin' on." He didn't have work for a couple of hours, and between then and now his only loose plan was to find the nearest hole in the wall to get himself a drink. Surely waiting was a healthier option in the long run.

Dilan had the look of someone caught mid bad decision, but so did Ayla as she staggered into the diner. Perhaps this was just another bad decision on both their parts, but both would never judge the other for any bad decisions they made. Especially not when they were both caught in the act. "You say that like it's a bad thing." Ayla laughed, her cheeks darkening a little as Dilan got it exactly square on the head what she had done. "Maybe I was concerned and wanted to check on the safety of my friend and roommate? Especially after listening to true crime podcasts all afternoon." She countered, though they both Ayla was here with a mix of concern and curiosity and desire to not return to an empty apartment.
Ayla was hungry though, so if the pie was that inedible, she'd have to find something else. "Hopefully the fries are good. It's a crappy diner, burgers and fries should be greasy and good at any of these spots. Hopefully." And in her current intoxicated state, a burger and fries sounded like heaven. "Perfect, we'll share the fries and I'll eat the burger and hopefully that will soak up the shots." A middle aged tired waitress came over and Ayla put in the order, trying her best to sound sober.
"It was someone's birthday." She explained with a wave of her hand. A name that would have meant more to Ayla than Dilan and as an explanation of why the invitation hadn't extended to her. "But what about you? How'd you end up in a place like this? How did you even find this place?" It wasn't really near their apartment. Concern sharpened her intoxicated gaze slightly. "Everything okay, Dilan?"
Tumblr media
Dilan didn’t even need to turn around to know who the voice belonged to—the half-dragged vowels and too-loud laugh were distinct. Still, she lifted her eyes with the resigned amusement of someone caught mid-bad decision by someone who knew all the other ones, too.
“You canceled your ride, didn’t you?” she said instead of hello, one brow raised, her tone dry but not unkind. “God forbid you go home to an empty apartment and let me wallow in peace.” Still, she didn’t move as Ayla slid into the booth, only gave a small, crooked smile as if to say fine, stay then, before taking another sip of her bitter coffee. At the mention of food, she glanced toward the counter like maybe something edible would magically appear. It didn’t.
“I’d tell you to avoid the pie, but apparently that’s controversial now.” Her tone lightened a touch, and she tapped her fingers along the ceramic mug. “I was thinking of heading back soon, but… if you’re ordering, I’ll split fries.” It may have been too late for dinner, but it was always time for girl dinner in her heart.
She leaned back, observing her for a moment, the gloss of her eyes, the glitter still clinging to her collarbone. “You look like you’ve had more fun than me tonight. Celebrating anything specific or are you just celebrating the general chaos of existence again?”

Ayla was more or less prepared for his confusion. It was a reaction she had gotten plenty of times. Here she was - bright, friendly, artistic and sometimes too kindhearted. No one usually saw it coming that she worked for the cops. Truthfully, it was never a situation she had ever envisioned herself. But life had a funny way of spitting you out on a different path than you expected. "I know, I don't seem like the type. Though, even sometimes I don't see myself as one of them." She often lived on the fringe of the LAPD, not quite one of them but not quite a civilian either. "Nice to officially meet you, doctor." Ayla nodded, offering a bright smile. "I'm a sketch artist. I work with witnesses and victims of various cases to create a composite sketch that the police then use in whatever investigation they are working on." Ayla explained. "I was just here interviewing a victim, helping work on a sketch of their attacker."
Tumblr media
Emiliano was puzzled by the entire conversation; such seemed to be the nature of every conversation that he and Ayla shared. The woman seemed to live in a completely different world than Emil, and not in a good way. Then again, he was completely out of touch, unaware of it and shamelessly careless. "Working with the cops? Did not see that coming." Her attendance to the yacht party made even less sense now. Emil wondered if she'd been playing dumb this entire time, if she knew exactly what that party had been about. But most importantly, he wondered just how much she had to do with the police if she was truly so clueless about the world that he was a part of. "Doctor." He gestured to his uniform, shrugging. "So you just...draw for the LAPD?"

Mia was here to gloat. It was as simple as that. They both known that when she had taken the case that Mia would make sure Cami walked away a free woman no matter what. She had a plan A, and a plan B, and so on through the rest of the alphabet no matter what would have happened or what the state threw at them. Yet, losing had never been an option and Safiye had to have known she was going to lose from the very start. "Think of it as a gift, your honor. A consolation prize." The title just used in court rolled off her tongue so sickly sweet. Mia wasn't going to take no for an answer and stepped in confidently to set the bottle on the desk before the woman before she took a seat.
She had just made the Barone name that much more untouchable, and Mia couldn't help but gloat. "Oh, come now." She tsked, a show of concern blossoming on her features. "My family has just suffered from two great tragedies. The loss of our dear departed father, and the unjust framing of my little sister. We have rightfully proved my sister's innocence and now we will turn every one of our vast resources to finding the true killer of our beloved father." It was a good thing Mia was a good actress so she didn't gag on her words. Enzo should be rotting in hell and had it not been for the hundreds of reporters buzzing like flies at his funeral, Mia would have pissed on his grave. Perhaps she'd go back one night and do that. She knew who was responsible though - the Hollow. But that wasn't something for the public to know and so she had to keep up the act of a grieving daughter seeking justice for their beloved father.
Tumblr media
Safiye had left the courthouse with a sour taste in her mouth. The very moment she’d stepped into the building the brunette had been aware of the weight crushing down on her and the entire case built up on a weapon that had gone missing. And there was nothing beyond that. A man dead, the gun in his own daughter’s hands and even Safiye had struggled to truly believe that someone like Camilla Barone would have been capable of the events that had seemingly taken place. But her opinion hadn’t mattered on the matter. Evidence was evidence until it wasn’t. Simply vanished, out of thin air. A total mess that she’d have to face eventually. Afterward she’d stayed in her office, cancelled her lunch plans in favor of going over the reports again and again. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. The yacht had far too many people waltzing all over it. The fact she hadn’t been in attendance the only reason she was allowed to move forward with the prosecution. If not for that the case would have been, by force, handed to one of the ADAs working under her. And even the crime lab report gave nothing away. Evidence had gone missing, right from the custody of the LAPD.
Tumblr media
The last thing she needed was Mia Barone showing up in her doorframe. About to let go of a breath it felt she’d been holding since that morning the brunette instead found herself facing the blonde in question. “We both know I can’t accept that.” And even if she couldn’t, she wouldn’t. “Should I ask you to come in or have you come simply to drop of that little gesture?” Clearly the other was there to gloat. Nothing else came to mind to explain this mess. Though Mia was right on one thing; they had both known that Cami could only be found innocent a top of the pile of garbage the case had turned into. “Perhaps, but this also means that there is nothing left to get anyone locked up.” Safiye could only hope that the other one would understand the meaning. If Cami was truly innocent, not just when a weapon happened to go missing, that meant someone else was out there, taking people’s lives and getting away with it. ❧ @miabarone

Curiouser and curiouser. Mia, like everyone else in Tino's life, knew how he had never shown up in public with a hair out of place. Appearances had always been one of the main pillars of his armor and how he both presented himself to the world and how he protected himself. So, to see him so disheveled and to admit to it due to lack of sleep was certainly a curious state. She could only hum, though her sharp eyes looked him over again in more detail.
Of all the things she expected him to say, Mia never expected to hear him say he had a baby. Her eyes widened for a moment as she froze. "A kid?" She echoed, making sure she heard him right. "Who's kid did you kidnap?" She blurted out, unable to understand and wrap her mind around that Tino had a biological daughter that he fathered. This was a seismic shift in everything and she had not seen this coming. In her shock, she thought about asking Tino if he had forgotten all about the birds and the bees talk. She knew what his lifestyle was like, she'd seen women going through a revolving door so she had a hard time understanding how he had let this happen.
But as she opened the file and started shifting through the paperwork, she saw he was being serious. Isobella was his biological daughter, born only a few weeks ago. "How did you hide this, her, from all of us?" She asked, her gaze now slipping up to him. This was real though, and Mia was quick to catch up and accept the new reality. "Congratulations. I'm sure she's beautiful. When do I get to meet her?" Mia offered Tino a rare, but genuine smile as she congratulated him, because despite the shock this was a good thing. The first Barone of the new generation.
"So what exactly are you thinking?" Mia asked, turning to business as she grew serious. "Are you wanting sole custody? Shared custody if the mother ever comes back in the picture? I'll need everything on the mother either way." She flipped through the pages. "I can cover every situation, even those you wouldn't think of. But I need to know what your general wishes are. If you want her protected from this until she's 18 at least, I need to know who you want her to go to that is apart from all of this." Obviously anyone in their family would be a risky choice. "But I'll make sure she's protected, Tino. We will want to think about drawing up a trust as well. Even if nothing happens to you and you live to be old and gray, a trust is a good thing to get settled out now."
Tumblr media
Santino gave a low huff of breath that might’ve been a laugh if it had more energy behind it. He scrubbed a hand over his jaw, half-scruffed, and leaned into the worn comfort of the chair across from her desk like the weight on his shoulders had finally found a place to land. “Yeah, well. Looking like shit’s the new uniform,” he muttered dryly, not bothering to deflect. “Figure I’ll circle back to vanity when sleep starts making it back onto the schedule.”
His gaze followed hers toward the window for a beat, quiet in the way he got when he was trying not to say too much too fast. Letting her talk. Letting the facts breathe. And when she spoke about Cami, the sharpness behind his eyes didn’t ease—but the tension in his shoulders did, just a little. “Good,” he said. Simple. Meant it. Knew nothing else needed to be said, Mia was good at her job and they both knew it, and it wasn't like she was about to let Cami get buried in bullshit.
He lifted the folder and set it lightly on her desk, figuring he'd end the suspense already. “I didn’t mean to dump this on you while everything’s still spinning, but I didn’t want to wait anymore. And if I’m being honest, you’re the only one I trust to handle it right.” There was a weight to that, not dramatic, but deeply meant. His voice stayed level. “There’s someone else now. A kid. Mine.” He let it land cleanly, no padding, no buildup. “Isobella. She’s a few weeks old.”
He watched her, bracing for the shift—but not apologizing for it. “Her mom is gone for now. She's… dealing with things. And I don’t know how long that’s going to take. So it's just me.” He exhaled through his nose. “And I’m trying to get ahead of it. Paperwork. Names. Safety nets. Things I never thought I’d be the one drawing up.” He let the weight sit for a moment longer, then leaned back, finally taking a sip of the drink he'd brought for himself. It felt cold now.
“I need someone smart to help me put it in writing that if anything happens—she’s protected. That she doesn't get pulled into all of this unless she chooses to be.” He drummed his fingers against the arm of the chair, restless now. “I’m not planning on dying anytime soon, but if something happens, I need her protected. Legally. Financially. Every angle I haven’t thought of, I want you to find it.”

Mia already hated the man before her. She hated everything he represented and how his whole presence only reminded her of Enzo's control coming back once more. Nico may deny it, but she knew this man was just a spy planted to keep tabs on her. "I shouldn't have to hide things in my own home." Mia shot back smoothly. "The help should know not to touch things that don't belong to them. Or you will find yourself in need of a new job." She didn't bother to hide the disdain from her words.
They stood like that for a moment, Mia leaning over and staring him down while he held his ground and even smirked back at her. The phone was placed between them, but Mia made no move to touch it. She didn't break his gaze as the words settled between them. They both knew that Nico wouldn't dismiss him on her word alone. Her eyes grew icier before she slowly pulled away, taking his phone and tucking it back into his shirt pocket. "This could have been so easy for you." Mia sighed, as if disappointed in a child making a bad decision. "You could have had double the money with none of the trouble. But now I will make sure you are driven from this job in one way or another." She pulled back and strode away, only calling over her shoulder before she left him alone. "Let the games begin."

Elion might argue his judgement had been clouded since birth. Or at least since early childhood when the people responsible to teach him values had failed at it. It's what had made him the perfect soldier later in life -- while others were hold back by silent questions and moral dilemmas, he'd conduct each and every order precisely. No questions asked. The line between right and wrong already blurred long before he even learnt the meaning of these two words.
"You should hide it better if you don't want people touching it without permission first." He shrugged, not feeling like explaining himself to her. Her methods of intimidation might work on others but had little to know effect on him. Elion didn't even flinch when Mia leaned in closer, her face an inch from his. The air around him suddenly filled up with a sweet scent he assumed was her perfume. His lips curved into a polite smirk at the proposal. "You'd like that, wouldn't you?" He mused. "Why not put an end to it right now?" Pulling up his phone, he offered it to her. "Call your brother and tell him how I'm already slacking on the job." He dared. "Who knows maybe the next one to take my place would agree to these terms? But this small agreement won't last long, trust me." A moment of tensed silence stretched. "So what's it gonna be?"

WHO: Aslan Soykan @aslansoykan LOCATION: Kerem's home
"Go ahead and pour yourself a drink." Kerem called from the kitchen as he heard Aslan come in. He had invited the man over, his second in command and his old friend, because there was a mountain of small things they needed to go over. He wanted to run some things by him, but he had to check in on him too. In true Kerem fashion, he had decided the best way to do so was to cook a meal he knew his old friend had a soft spot for. One of the only ways to try and warm up the perpetually serious Aslan. The opposite from Kerem, truly. But it had always served them well growing up in their training. The opposites balanced each other out.

WHO: Kaan Aydem @staincdvermillionLOCATION: a gun range
"Are we here so you can seduce me with guns, or because you want to shoot me?" Kerem asked, the cocky smirk playing across his lips as he leaned against the wall and watched Kaan pick up one of the guns spread across the table top. The weapons were impressive, and he knew the man handling them was impressive too. But Kerem couldn't help himself, he had to test Kaan's limits. And he knew the Nightshade second in command would never really shoot him. Well, no where important anyway.

Kerem needed to find Serkan. His cousin wasn't answering the phone and that was not a smart thing to do with the environment currently as it was. He didn't suspect anything too serious like his cousin being on the receiving end of whatever the Hollow's next plan was. There were better people to go after than Serkan. But, Kerem knew how his cousin had never had his mind fully in the game. Coordinating with security, he finally got word his cousin was at the art gallery. Truly, it shouldn't have been surprising.
"I'm always worth knowing." came the snappy retort, followed by Kerem's trademark smirk. Of course he had to play up his ego, even when it was just the two of them in the room. "Why weren't you answering your phone?"

𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇: @bloodnglorystart - OPEN TO ALL 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄: Lazos Art Gallery
The third floor always felt the most honest, in Serkan's opinion. He didn't know why, but something about the third floor just sat differently with him, allowing him his ability to admire the art the way he often did. Modern art - which he'd had a tendency to see on the third floor - didn't care if you understood it; it just existed. Fractured, messy, loud. All the things that Serkan often resonated with in his own way. He stood in front of a canvas that looked like a scream, half finished coffee in one hand, gallery pamphlet folded in the other. It wasn't like he'd needed it anyways; he'd come here so much that he didn't need it anyways. He was minding his own business, letting it all sink in when he noticed the door to the artist of the month gallery say slightly ajar. Taking a step forward as light spilled out, Serkan cleared his throat. "Anyone in there worth knowing?"

Mia shot Romeo a look as he gave her the sarcastic line that was clearly him pointing out to her not so subtly that Mia didn't bother asking how he was or even greeting her twin as she pushed herself into his home. She didn't stop her rant though, needing to get out all the anger and frustrations that was coiling her so tightly she was going to explode sooner rather than later. And when she did, she'd do worse than give some lowly drug dealer a broken nose.
When she finally reached the end, or at least the break in her rant so she could take in stock of her surroundings and give Romeo a chance to get a word in, she flashed him a fake and over the top friendly smiled. "Hi, Romeo. So glad your day was pretty great. Oh, of course - I'm always interested in your day." But under the tease, there was a genuine spark in her eyes. She did care about Romeo and his day, she just had been so close to bursting, she needed to get it out. With everything neatly spread out on the counter, Mia lowered herself to the floor and sat on the ground as she let Scooby bounce around and try to settle on her legs though he was far too excited to sit still. "But how was your day? Good? Better than mine?"
Mia snickered at Romeo and rolled her eyes. "Good, he doesn't need to know we say during twin time. Though he already knows I think he's an idiot. Besides, I could have said worse." They both knew it was true. Mia did not agree with the act of taking power like Nico did at all, she respected the bylaws their great grandfathers had created to keep the peace between the families and in one swift move Nico had destroyed one hundred years of rules and laws. But, she also knew that Nico couldn't go back on the act and he had to keep power firmly in his control going forward. And Mia wasn't about to let one of the other families come for them - though she wouldn't blame him. "I'm not sure, I think there are some who see it for the ruthless, unchecked power move it was."
Not that she could blame the whispers she heard. The others had every right to consider a coup since Nico had now opened the door to that threat more than any other Don had faced. "You know me so well." Mia smiled softly as she started scratching Scooby behind his ear. "I do have a plan, and a backup plan and a backup backup plan in the works." She wouldn't be herself if she hadn't thought about the next 5 possible moves on the chess board. "We need to stay on top. I don't agree with what he did, and I don't condone it. But we can't lose the Don seat now. He made us vulnerable, but we can't let it happen."
Tumblr media
There was no need to wonder about who'd just let themselves into his house, his sister always having a way of making her presence known. He followed the blonde whirlwind into his kitchen, Scooby bouncing along behind, words laden with sarcasm serving as a greeting. "Hi. My day was pretty great actually and I'm doing just fine, thanks for asking." Leaning back against his counter, arms folded, he settled in and listened to every word that flowed from her. He waited for her to finish, or at least pose a question that prompted a reply from him, nothing impatient in the way he gave his fully attention. Always prepared to give his twin the space she needed to work her feelings out.
"Promise I won't tell him you said that." Grin spread over his features, unable to break the decades long habit of using humour to defuse any situation. Not that this one was particularly volatile, he didn't see much point in asking about the 'why' of it all when it was already done. The action had been taken and now the way he saw it, they had the choice to get behind it or fracture and weaken their position. Shoulders rolled into a shrug, nonchalantly trying to put a different spin on it. "Maybe they'll see it as decisive."
Head shook slightly at the mention of a coup. "Then they'd be the idiots." If only because he still thought the Barones somewhat invincible, even if the death of his father seemed to prove otherwise. Besides, an all out war within the Family seemed like a waste time to him. They had more to worry about. "What are you gonna do?" Curious, not combative. He'd already decided on his course of action, for better or for worse he was backing his family, but with the complicated relationships that existed between them all he'd learned not to predict where Mia would fall. Though Ayla had been born and raised in the L.A. area, she was not unaware of how great the weather here was. Most days out of the year, the weather was beautiful and perfect to be outside. They didn't deal with the horrible heat or cold other parts of the country did. Clio loved going on their daily walk and she would get too stir crazy in the shared apartment if she didn't get out either on a walk or to go to the dog park. Palm View Park was one of her favorite spot, they usually had some good benches open and after the walk to get here, Ayla was looking forward to just sitting and watching the view.
A lot of other people had the same idea though it seemed and so the benches were more crowded than normal. Ayla had been debating just heading back when she saw a woman and dog that looked familiar. She swore she'd seen her at the dog park a few times now. "Yes, and half the city as well." Ayla laughed. "I think I recognize you. From the dog park?" She offered to the woman and let Clio sniff at the woman's shoes as her tail wagged.

The view from the park was something that Rachel would never not appreciate. The calming water and the greenery helped her relax on an almost daily basis. She appreciated getting to go there pretty much on the daily. She would bring along Walter most days too to get in a walk for him and then do some people watching. Rachel was sitting on a park bench in the shade where she had her long haired Dachshund on her lap since he was too much of a gentleman to be on the ground at the moment.
She was in a deep people watching session when she realized that the dog that was approaching with their owner were both familiar. Rachel snapped back into attention and smiled and waved. "Well hello! It looks like you had a similar idea about getting outside on such a beautiful day!" She exclaimed to Ayla as she moved a bit, making Walter wake up from the nap he'd been taking on her lap.
