unsung benefit i think a lot of ppl are sleeping on with using the public library is that i think its a great replacement for the dopamine hit some ppl get from online shopping. it kind of fills that niche of reserving something that you then get to anticipate the arrival of and enjoy when it arrives, but without like, the waste and the money.

I think they should've created an OnlyFans account for Professor. It would unironically made them so much money.

the reaction to the update kinda proves that anon's point that a lot of people just wanted to bully them into reversing the decision rather than feeling seriously disappointed and grieved by them lol
Yep. The compromise was more than a lot of people deserve but what is my number one comfort right now is seeing how the Observer channel on the wiscord has been sending out positivity to the team and to Steven non stop and based on some of the staff dropping in with Steven to say a relieved thank you, I know that that is directed at every fan out here online wading through the unhealthy abusive throng of people gleefully telling them they're going to fail.
It felt like a shout out to every real fan right now who gave them grace, who waited it out before trying to jump down their throats telling them their company and their creative outlets were not worth the effort.
When I say real fan I'm including anyone who was disappointed or felt any type of way about it that wasn't positive because your feelings are your feelings.
The thank you from staff is not for the crowd out there who made their feelings every one else's problem. The people who messaged Shane, Ryan, and Steven's partners snarky messages about their marriages, the users who posted asinine takes in support of Youtube ads, the people who kept repeating the same empty refrain of "we don't care what you want to make; make what I want!", the morons who said "they deserve lashings! and bullying!", the badly written open letter by a known Steven bullier who I assume has already started acting like their demand for them to keep being slaves to the advertisers was fulfilled even though they probably will delete it out of embarrassment, the fans who openly planned to coordinate booing them them when they go on stage in London. None of you deserve that relieved post-harassment thank you from the staff.
And for those posting takes like this?
Tumblr media
I genuinely and with all my heart wish that for you also. I wish that you unsubscribe and stop hate watching. I wish that we see and hear less of your type of viewer and in turn you get what you want.
I can say with confidence that they don't want your kind of support.

(I like to think that) Lex Luthor gets clowned on by literally everyone, and Bruce is the absolute worst.
Like he'll attend an event and a literal millisecond later, Bruce will roll up and steal all the attention. And when they're inside, him or one of his crazy "children" will "accidentally" spill very red wine all over his expensive ass suit.
And what can Lex even do?
Last time he retaliated and mildly shoved Bruce, the man very dramatically flung himself across the room and fell straight into a table. He hadn't even gotten hurt- not a single bruise or cut- but that drama queen didn't appear in public for an entire month after the incident. The backlash Lex had gotten was so not worth it.
And it doesn't stop there. His kids join in on the "fun" and bully him too.
Tim permanently bans him from all the platforms owned by Wayne enterprisese, which is like borderline illegal, so Lex sues and somehow always loses.
Jason Duke and Steph team up and make it a game to throw things on his head without him realising. And when Luthor catches one of them, he can't even shout at them or whatnot cause hes actually scared shitless. Jason, the absolute tank of a man, just grins at him while placing his hands on the very noticeable gun at his hip. Duke and Steph stand on either side of him, gripping literal knives in their hands.
Damian just outright walks up to him and begins insulting him in a couple of different languages. He always gives Lex a final disgusted look before turning and walking off.
Dick might seem the sweetest, approaching him while smiling in that nice way of his. He's the worst, though, cause he always makes sure to bring a few reporters with him before he innocently starts outing Lex's latest evil scheme in front of the audience. He makes sure to bring solid evidence of the nefarious plans, but right at the end, he goes, "idk I could be wrong," before shrugging and walling off.
Cassandra doesn't do much, but she's definitely the scariest. Whenever Lex has had enough and is about to call a hit on Bruce, she appears out of nowhere, stares straight at him, and just shakes her head while saying, "No. Regret"
Basically, Lex Luthor, public enemy #1, gets (justifiably) bullied by the entirety of the human population (honestly, only the Waynes).

i am going to keep this succinct.
i, alongside many other people in this fandom, watched and saw as people got comfortable in numbers and showed themselves to be capable of absolutely reprehensible behaviour. you acted out because you felt comfortable doing so alongside other people who were doing the same.
you do not get to be absolved of that now that popular opinion is shifting once again.
you are allowed to feel your feelings, and they can be complicated and hurt and raw. you also have the right to act on your feelings however you see fit. however, this does not prevent you from the judgement your actions deserve. if you react to something in the manner that some of you did, you deserve criticism, you deserve shame, and you deserve to think long and hard about what part of yourself holds a belief that allows you to feel justified in that kind of behaviour.
i hope you get right with yourself. i have very little faith you will.
to say this as bluntly as possible: if you took this as an opportunity to be vile towards someone while, in the same breath, protected your white male blorbo who is a grown ass man capable of making his own decisions on his own terms and is not "being held hostage" or forced or Whatever you want to say to be cute and get likes on instagram or youtube, i do not trust you to have the emotional maturity to handle anything, and your opinion no longer holds any weight. your vitriol and refusal to crticially think is a disease.
get better soon.

Suddenly struck with a need to explain to you how boat pronouns work (I work in the marine industry).
When you're talking about the design of the boat, you say "it".
When the boat is still being built, your say "it".
When the boat is nearing completion, you can say "it" or "she".
When the boat is floating in the water you probably say "she", unless there is still a lot of work to be done (e.g. no engine yet) then you say "it".
When the boat is officially launched and operating, you say "she". If you continue to say "it" at this point you are not incorrect but suspiciously untraditional. You are not playing the game.
If you are referring to a boat you don't really know anything about you may say "it" ("there's a big boat, it's coming this way"). But if you know its name, it's probably "she" ("there's the Waverley, she's on her way to Greenock").
If you are talking about boats in general, you say "it" ("when a boat is hit by a wave it heels over")
If you speak about a boat in complimentary terms, it's "she" ("she's a grand boat"). If you are being disparaging it may be it, but not necessarily ("it's as ugly as sin", "she's a grotty old tub").
If she has a boy's name, she's still she. "Boy James", "King Edward", "Sir David Attenborough"? The pronoun is she.
If it's a dumb barge (no engine), you say it. But if it's a rowing boat (no engine), you say she.
I hope this has cleared things up so that you may not be in danger of misgendering floating objects.

people still being mean to steven are so evil. "he sounds like he is reading off a script" they all are. "he doesn't look or sound upset" he has expressed before he finds it hard to express emotions or appear empathetic. he isn't sat there laughing, he is just being himself. he always talks in a more static tone than filled with emotion; you must have noticed not everyone talks the same?!?! all of you just hate him for no reason when you don't have to watch his shows

Jason: I'm just kicking the job's ass before it kicks mine. Like your mother said.
Damian: No, no. You do not get to use my mother's words against me.
Jason: Well, let me tell you something my mother used to say. "Bats! There are bats everywhere, Jason! And they know everybody's phone numbers."

I want less of "the Drakes were terrible people and parents and Bruce rescues poor sad Timmy" (not knocking the trope it just got old for me)
And more of Bruce suffering a hell of his own creation as he tries to figure out how to parent Timothy "latchkey kid" Drake, who doesn't respect the concept of having parental supervision in general and more specifically Bruce's authority as his new guardian at all, because Tim was basically his caretaker for the entire beginning of his tenure as Robin
Any kind of Parental Action would have Bruce choking in his own hypocrisy. Like... imagine trying to get your teenage son to go to bed when he's been putting your ass down for naps for like, years, by that point. Imagine telling him to eat healthier when at 13 years old he was helping your butler with designing your meal plan 'cause you were too depressed to eat
Bruce gently tries to get him to stop working on a case to take a break, and Tim raises a single withering eyebrow (he learned this from Alfred) and Bruce immediately shuts up. Tim only listens to Bruce when he wants to and being legally adopted by the man hasn't changed that
(And I want fics of the rest of the batfam reacting to this dynamic soooooooo bad)
