06/30/2025 Game Link Update
I can't believe I'd be here after two and a half years...
Anyways, since DashingDon is officially down, and I know it's been months or something, I haven't been keeping up (/▽\), but I finally uploaded the game to CoGDemos, so here's the new link to the game. I'll also update the link in the navigation bar, so no worries (❁´◡`❁). Hope you guys enjoy it!

I'm officially done with the game this time, and I just uploaded it!
And over the course of making this game, I've realized that while yes, planning a story out is a good thing (it actually motivated me to get my story from one point to another), sometimes it's okay to not follow the plan.
I've deleted three chapters from my original plan and added a bunch of unplanned achievements, credits, thoughts, and a freaking RANT, and the entire thing was so much different from what I had initially expected when I started drawing up the outline for this game.
(Okay, fine, my entire point in this post is just to let people know that I've deleted three chapters. And I'm proud of it. *insert sassy but weird af pose*)

Everything is done and ready for playtesting!
Also, I've put the stats outcomes for each choice in a pdf which can be found in the navigation page~

So, it's all done—except for the achievements since I still have to finish that. But other than that, after I'm finished with the achievements, I'll come back to the blog and add the story plotting board and more additional things and whatnot.
Buh-bye~

I'm just left with my last chapter and achievements, and then, voilà! I'm done!
Hopefully, I can finish this by tonight.

I only have to more chapters to “complete” complete, then this entire story is going to be finished! So that’s something I’m looking forward to.
However, I might’ve misused the *if function in Choicescript… so… yeah. Gotta deal with that
(This means that I have to go and add a bunch of labels now🥲)

I'm going to hate myself for this but I have no choice—I'm also deleting the second to last chapter of the story, Another Day, Another Life? just because A, I'm running out of time, and B, I'm running out of inspiration. Perhaps in the future, I'll think of something and add it later, but the current decision is like so.
Also, I will upload my newest game version just before I sleep tonight (when exactly, I'm not sure). I've also discovered the Achievements thing in Choicescript, so I'll be adding more of those in-game. (There are currently only two and I want more. Just cause.)
So yeah, I guess that's it for today's report? (I just realized it's 12:50 AM on Monday right now. Whelp. Gotta get working.)
See y'all tomorrow!

I'm on Chapter 8: The Prince That Was Promised, so I guess there's still hope for me to hand this in?
This is the first time I've ever been so late for something, and why did I remember the deadline being on the 10th? What was that all about?
edit: oops I guess it was the 10th after double-checking.

Um, I just realized that my due date for this project is today and not on the tenth. So I guess I'm deleting another chapter now.
(If you're curious, it's originally what was planned for Chapter 9, aka Down, Down, Down We Go)
Anyways, I gotta keep going!
(I just finished the Wedding of Peleus and Thetis, so once I finish the Trojan War I'll update once more)

01/05/2023 Progress Report
Okay, so, um, I almost messed up big time just minutes ago.
I had overwritten my new files with my old ones and almost lost days of progress on this project. But luckily, thanks to the power of VS Code, I managed to restore my overwritten files.
So yeah. I almost died.
But on to more cheerful news, I got a new mechanical keyboard with RGB lights, so when it types, it sounds good and looks awesome.
Also, I'm more than halfway through my first draft of the story, so there's that.
And now, I've gotta get back to finish Chapter 8 by tomorrow noon.
No pressure. (Not.)

I'm so dead. My flash drive somehow died, and now I have to get it fixed, that means that there aren't going to be a lot of updates this week.
(Yes, I don't have any backups, and half of my final reports are still in there. I'm screwed.)
*Midnight update:
It turned out that I had saved my code on my laptop, so I still have the important stuff for this project still saved. As for other projects… I’m still dealing with the pain🥲

Still on Chapter Three, though I have written more of it. I have also fleshed out more details for chapters Four through Six.
Another thing is that I have decided to merge two of my chapters (to be fair, I had been considering it a long time ago), so the story will now have four parts and eleven chapters total.
Last but not least, I will be uploading two iterations of my handwritten plotting board, both old and updated, on this blog.

TL;DR: there is no progress. Perhaps tomorrow?
For those who want to read more about the plotting of Breaking Tides, I will open a page soon about this on the blog.
Fun fact: Breaking Tides' WIP name is Of Goddesses and Men, which in my opinion sounds way more aesthetic.

11/27/2022 Progress Report
This is the first progress report on this blog, which will be updated at least once a week. The following progress reports will include updates with word counts and chapter completions.
As this choice-driven story is made for a school project (my final project for my Introduction to Western Literature class), this blog will be constantly updated, and my progress on this project will be fast compared to my other projects.
The progress for Breaking Tides before the creation of this blog includes the first two complete chapters and a brief diagram of the story's plot, the latter of which will be uploaded and updated in the future.
I will also include my research work before writing this story. However, I must clarify that despite being based on Greek myths, the game might not follow the sequence of recorded events. The parts that do follow the mythological texts might be established on different sources in different parts of the story. I apologize in advance if that might offend anyone, but this is a piece of creative writing, and if a deviation from the myths is the best way to make the story the best I can, I will not hesitate to do such a thing.
Last but not least, I hope you enjoy the story that is to come!
