He was going to say kill but what do ghosts do that is scary?…

The last thing he wanted was for Tanjiro to try and fight the specters. Specters were a lot stronger than demons and he did not want his new friend to be killed or hurt by them.

Unfortunately, when he let the word specter slip from his tongue, he felt so stupid for making such a simple mistake. Even when he told the boy to forget what he said, he refused to.

“Nothing! I was joking. Specters are not real, they are…” He needed to think of another lie. “Ghosts! They are rumors of ghosts. Ghosts in black armour.”

Specters were not ghosts but he knew most people don’t believe in ghosts so hopefully, that will deter Tanjiro. However, since they were on the topic of specters, he wondered if Tanjiro had met or saw any specters.

“You haven’t seen any scary ghosts in black armor, have you?" 

The redhead was reassured to hear that revenge and hatred have no power under Regulus's life. Tanjiro knows similar stories and the ending is not the best.

   The root of rejection to forget what you just heard was certainly curiosity. He is sure spectrum isn't a kind of demon, or possibly is? ---  Do ghosts wear black armor? --- Tanjiro thought of peaceless spirits of ancient samurai. Nothing like a  Hades’ soldier came to Tanjiro's mind. --- I have no reason not to believe in ghosts, to tell the truth. --- Of course not, the boy deals with demons almost every night. --- I didn't see anything like that. Do they only wear dark armor? Are ghosts hard to see?

“Merry Christmas, Tanjiro!” Regulus said as gave Tanjiro a dagger that was made with the Scarlet Crimson Iron Sand and Scarlet Crimson Ore. It was a dagger that Tanjiro can use to kill demons in case his sword was not in his hands. (protectheweak)
