mischievousmarvelousmagicalmaui:
Maui rolled his eyes–because he didn’t do feelings or whatever.
But, he stood up and stepped towards her so that he could give her a proper hug. His arms wrapped around her and he squeezed her tight. It was easy to do, seeing as they were the same height (something that had annoyed him ever since it had happened a few years into high school, right before he’d dropped out.) Now, though, he was happy, because he could hold her without being afraid of squishing her (because of his muscles, of course.)
He held her for a few seconds, feeling an uncharacteristic burn in his throat. His eyes shut tight and he sucked in a breath through his nose.
“You’re gonna be great,” he told her before he pulled away and sniffled a little before flagging down the bartender, so she wouldn’t see the shine to his eyes. “Oi! We need two going away shots!” he called before turning back to his friend. “When I get home, first person I’m coming to bother is you. I promise.”
Moana wrapped her arms just as tightly around Maui tucking her chin on his shoulder and clenched her eyes shut. It was so much easier to hide her emotions like this though at this point she couldn’t hide it either.
Swynlake while it wasn’t healthy for her right now, didn’t make it any easier to leave. She had made friends and she had people here. It was just sad that to take care of herself this is what she had to do.
“So will you,” Moana spoke making sure she met his eyes when she said that sitting back down with a laugh. Moana had seen why Maru had been chosen as Maui and she knew how many great things he could accomplish. “Make sure you have a bunch of stories to tell when you do come knocking on my door.” As the bartender walked over Moana gave them a smile. “Tonight both of our drinks are on me so don’t hold back.”

mischievousmarvelousmagicalmaui:
Maui felt two feelings simultaneously and neither of them were good: anger and jealousy. He was–angry she was thinking of leaving so suddenly. It was stupid. He knew he couldn’t control her, but still, somehow, it felt like a betrayal. He’d be here all alone without her. Sure, he had Lymantria and Dipper and his other friends, but–they weren’t home. Not the way Moana was.
The jealousy had to do with her father and how he “pulled some strings.” It reminded Maui of the part of Moana he had never liked. The reason he’d been so mean to her at first, when they were younger. The privilege. Maui never had anyone to pull strings for him. Not like that. Sure, his mum had gotten him a job being a busboy at the luau she worked at but that wasn’t–admission into a college. Something Maui could never afford back home, especially not as Maru.
But–
He took a breath and let these things go. This wasn’t a time to start a fight. Maui had matured enough to know that. He didn’t know when that had happened, but it had–and he had Swynlake to thank for that. It was apparent they were having very different experiences here. And he couldn’t begrudge her wanting to be the best she could possibly be.
“Wow,” he still said, shaking his head a bit. “I–well, I’m glad you told me. And, y’know what, Princess? It may shock you to hear but…I’ll miss you.” He gave her a little rugged half-smile. “But you need to take care of yourself. And don’t worry, I’ll be back home to bother you soon enough.”
He looked at her for another moment and then shook his head with a little scoff.
“Is this the part where we hug or whatever?”
Moana didn’t know what reaction she was hoping for but she knew she was hoping he would be okay with it. In no way did she need his approval but that didn’t mean she wanted him to dislike her for the decision.
Moana and Maui had grown the past two years. From the Underworld to fighting demons in this world to him saving her in titanic and Moana did consider him a close friend at this point. Even when he irritated the hell out of her.
Rolling her eyes with a laugh Moana shook her head. “I’m going to miss you too Maui.” Moana started a smile creeping up on her lips. “You’re not getting rid of me completely either. What’s the saying it’s not goodbye just see you later? I expect to see you in one piece causing trouble soon enough.” Moana teased holding her hands up to him.
“Come on, give me a hug or whatever.”

mischievousmarvelousmagicalmaui:
Maui listened carefully to what Moana said. He had been trying to get better at that. The whole…listening thing. Lymantria helped because she was so fuckin’ quiet all the time, he had to lean in and pay attention or he’d miss what she said. And with Dipper? Well, he was so soft. If Maui didn’t give him the proper consideration, shit bothering him went right over his head.
So, yeah, he was learning–but Moana was never someone he’d needed to listen to in the past. He’d always seen her as someone strong and capable. Strong in places where even he was weak.
But, he listened, his brows knit together like knots of rope.
He didn’t understand, because Maui was pretty good at separating the dreams. They just–were always kind of shitty and Maui did, at the end of the day, prefer his normal life to most of those fantastical lives. (Maybe it is because he never got the glory in those that he had now in the real world.) Whatever the case, it didn’t bother him, those realities.
“You’re not like that, though, Moana,” Maui told her, scooching a little closer and tilting his head. Part of him wanted to reach for her hand. If this was Lymantria, he would’ve, but Moana and him had never been like that. “You care, so much. I wouldn’t have had to pull you back into a boat five times trying to save someone was wasn’t even real.”
He didn’t talk about their time in the Underworld often, but he figured here, where she was doubting herself, was a good place to bring it back around again.
Honestly, Moana appreciated Maui more than ever at this moment. She hadn’t come in expecting he would do anything but try to listen but she hadn’t been sure how well it would have gone. Maui and Moana’s relationship had always been about teasing and challenging one another. They mainly showed their strengths and only their strengths.
At the mention of the underworld Moana let out a breath of a laugh. “Yes, that’s true. I dived in recklessly over and over.” And the dreams they weren’t all bad. They had their moments too.
“It’s not just the dreams though. I see myself different in each but it’s how I’m seeing myself change here. I just need to get back to the basics and I don’t think I can do that in Swynlake anymore.” Maui had been right in going home for the somewhere and Moana should have done the same thing then. But now it was the school year and Moana had to deal with her lack of ability to make a decision. “My Dad pulled some strings and I’m going to take my final year back in Hana.” Moana didn’t have a plan for after that. She just needed to be back to the ocean.

mischievousmarvelousmagicalmaui:
The chaos of it was entertaining, though Maui had spent most of the dream huffing and puffing and pouting. He probably didn’t get chosen because he was put in fucking Hufflepuff. Again. Didn’t Swynlake know he was, like, so obviously a Gryffindor? Seriously. What gives?
He sat up a little at Moana’s comment, though, leaning towards her, his head tilting to the side. And yeah, it did kind of sound stupid–Harry Potter was the chillest of the dreamscapes they’d been forced into–but he wasn’t going to tell her that. Maybe another time, hwen he didn’t pick up on the fact she actually looked upset. But, he did. And he wasn’t an asshole, he wasn’t gonna just brush it off. Instead, he furrowed his eyebrows slightly.
“How come?”
Moana wasn’t sure how to put everything she had been feeling into words. The way her stomach twisted how even when she was home she never felt good enough but here it was magnified. Moana wanted to solve problems and fix things and one couldn’t do that in Swynlake.
The town didn’t need to be fixed. You would go crazy trying to do so.
“Because in every other dream things got twisted. But you wake up from it and know it was a dream. You know it wasn’t real. It doesn’t have to be a big deal.” Moana started letting out a breath of air and rubbing at her forehead.
“I know I could do the same thing with this one if I wanted but I enjoyed watching those chosen fight for their life. I enjoyed it. And I hate that I did. I got into a fight a couple weeks ago Maui. Because it was the only way I could feel like I could fix the problem. I’m focusing on solutions that aren’t solutions. And I’m worried, The longer I stay here. The more I try to be something here. The more likely I am to turn into the girl in that dream. That doesn’t care who gets hurt because that’s the only solution I see. A Harry Potter world wasn’t harsh enough to make me into a bitch but I was one.” Each of these dreams she felt like she was seeing a different part of herself and she didn’t like it.

“Yeah, but I didn’t get it, which is bullshit,” Maui huffed as he flopped into the seat opposite Moana.
He was all cocky attitude as he stretched himself out, lounging against the bar in his very Maui-like way. However, internally–the dream had disturbed him. In the Hunger Games, sure he’d been chosen to kill people, but he’d still been chosen. And he’d managed to get far. Yeah, he’d had magic, but everyone in Harry Potter had magic. That was kind of the point.
He hadn’t been anything special at all–and the dream had used his real name too. It was only a matter of time until people caught onto the truth: that he was a fake, a phony. It put an itch under his skin: he needed to do some hero-ing–stat.
“What about you?”
Moana let out a small laugh, Maui would have kicked ass, as Maru or not, or at least he would have tried. Moana was pretty sure his ego would have gotten in the way.
“I watched the games excited each and every time something crazy happened. The chaos of it was entertaining.” Moana started before looking down as she shook her head.
“It’s going to sound stupid since nothing happened but waking up to that was horrible.” Moana hated how she was changing.

A New Tomorrow {The Demigod and the Princess}
Moana wasn’t surprised when she had woken up from the dream, it was a normal Swynlake thing at this point. It wasn’t like she had nearly died but she did get to watch people die for a game and that’s what had bothered her.
Again and again Swynlake brought out the worse in people and the worse in her. And with her final year looming the pressure had been sending Moana in tisy.
But this dream, waking up from it, had her calling her parents, asking for strings and looking up plane tickets as an option.
Unlike when she came to Swynlake though Moana wasn’t running. If she had, she wouldn’t be here asking Maui to meet her for drinks. Two years ago they wouldn’t be doing this either.
“So what was your story this time? I’m guessing you tried to be a champion?”

To be honest, Sally didn’t have much knowledge concerning flowers in particular. She grew herbs and natural things that aided her in not falling into western medication. That sounded strange but to her defense, her magic often left her with headaches and she didn’t want her life to succumb to one medicine after another.
(She already has had bad interactions with medication when her father forced her into seeing a psychiatrist back when she was younger)
The redhead began to walk behind the woman her eyes falling over all the beautiful flowers around her.
“Umm it’s about a good balance between the two. I grow my herbs pretty easily. I don’t even need to grow it, grow it per say… I’ll be okay with an already grown one here that I can just plant in and maintain it… if that’s easier. I’m Sally by the way.”
“Well you might not need to grow it but once it’s planted the work isn’t done. If you put a plant that needs full sun in half and half it just won’t flourish the way that it really could.” Most likely it would be alright but at the same time it just was a different environment and Moana liked to offer advice based on as much information as possible.
“It’s really whatever you prefer. We’re in the latter half of the season so I wouldn’t suggest starting from seedlings.”

deb-the-damsel:
“Ah, thank-you!” Deb grinned and took the towel, using it to dab at her face and arms before taking it to her hair- luckily it was pretty short these days, so it wouldn’t be tangling about at her shoulders annoying her all day. “I was meaning to come in here.” She confirmed with a soft giggle, “I was actually only out to take a walk in the sunshine- or the thunderstorm Shirley told me might be on it’s way- when I saw all the flowers in the window and thought about how nice it might be to have some fresh flowers in the house. I’ve never had fresh ones, always just those fake material ones. Pretty, but no nice smells to go with it, y’know?”
“You wanted to walk in the rain?” Moana questioned, it wasn’t that strange but it had been a very long time since Moana had done so. Since he had just saw the rain and wanted to be outside during it.
She kind of missed it now that she thought about it.
“As long as people keep them for long I suppose it’s not horrible but considering plastic flowers to real ones I would always suggest real ones or even plants. It’s a lot better for the environment.”

He frowned. Fine, they could keep the secrets of their highly efficient towels. One day he would get around to looking into making a better towel than ShamWoW itself. Except, you know, with something that actually worked. No offense Vince but, full offense.
“Nah, I’ll have to get it back to the lab to get it hooked up to a volt meter, see if all the components are still with me. Sadly I did not think to bring that with me on this outing.” He turned back to her and smiled, “Thank you, though. You’ve been a very gracious host. You got a name? So I can give you that five star rating for the online survey.”
“I suspect most people wouldn’t think about bringing a voltmeter with them on a walk.” Moana stated squeezing the water out of her hair and then raising an eyebrow. Did she want to know why a lab was involved?
“Moana and honestly if you think this is hospitality don’t run into my Nana she would drag you in from the rain and then feed you before sending you off again.”

Moana hadn’t really been to Pixies since she had decked someone because he had been an asshole when he was hitting on her and her friends but of course Moana couldn’t hide from the only good club scene in Swynlake or she would be missing out on way too much come the school year.
And it wasn’t like Peri had minded. The owner had smiled and welcomed her back in.
Which meant Moana had to be on her best behaviour and to her that meant grabbing a drink and looking out to the dancefloor. She would have to join at some point. Some of the girls were already on the dance floor, finding partners and having a good time.
Turning to the girl speaking to her Moana raised an eyebrow. “I’m not one to deny that I know how to have a good time. So why not.”
I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor || Open
Carla wasn’t gonna lie, she looked amazing. The form-fitting, short, sequined dress hugged her every curve perfectly. It was her favorite dress that she preferred when she was tasked with infiltrating the hottest socialite parties in Avalor City. Quite revealing, yet leaving plenty for the imagination. The perfect distraction for those pampered, overly privileged Avaloran social elite.
What was even better was that she wasn’t on a mission. She was free! Sort of. Yeah. She had a job to do, but was a long term thing. So what was the harm in a little personal fun on the side?
And the night life at Pixie’s was as promising as any back home. The bar staff was quick and the music was quality. Plus, she had to admit, the view was nice.
“Another shot,” she, her tone brisk as she tapped her empty shot glass on the bar, nodding to the bar tender, “tequila, straight up. In fact,” she glanced around at the bustling dance floor, “Make it a double.”
Bobbing her head in time to the music, she smoothly caught the double shot glass as it slid back towards her. Catching the eye of the person standing beside her, a feline smile curved her mouth as she raised an eyebrow.
“Hey there gorgeous, you look like someone who knows how to have a good time,” she purred, expertly tossing the shot back and firmly clinking the tiny glass back on the bar. One hand on the curve of her hip, she fluttered her eyelashes and gave a little one shouldered shrug. “So? What do you say? Dance with me?”

aquata-the-undefeated:
Of course, the one time Q had gone out of her way to reach out to a near-stranger in an attempt to try and make friends, the universe decided to conspire against her.
Had it not been her idea to being with, she might’ve taken it as a sign, like a metaphorical yield. Was she taking this too quickly?
She didn’t really think so, cause she did think–and want– to be friends with Moana, and really that should’ve been enough to quell any kinds of doubt.
Yet the doubt remained, even as she waited by the shore in the afternoon sun. Five o’clock was a prettier time for a swim, anyway. Sure.
Q glanced over her shoulder everytime she heard someone coming down the path, but only when Moana rounded the bend did she stand.
“No kidding.” She agreed. “It’s nicer out now, though than it was before, so, plus sides.”
Aquata was right about that. It was gorgeous at this time of day. It was something about the early morning and later evening that had a certain feeling about it. The world felt like it was both waking up and falling asleep. And not in the ways people would expect.
Right now it felt like certain aspects of nature were just peeking their heads up.
“Silver linings.” Moana mused pulling her hair into a high ponytail. “Plus now I won’t have to run off for my Nana’s appointment,” Moana explained

Sally was very grateful that the girl hadn’t tossed her the towel and had instead passed it over to her. Knowing herself well enough, she would’ve completely missed in catching it. Smiling, she took the offered towel and began passing it over her arms.
“Thank you. I look like I took a shower out there in the rain…”
Once her arms were dried up, she began to wrap the towel around the wet strands of her red hair giving it a squeeze to help expel some of the water from it. She had so much hair that once it dried up Sally knew it was going to look like a right frizzy freight. Just her luck because she wasn’t weird enough personality-wise as it is.
“I umm actually was planning to head here… I wanted to look at some flowers… I uhh I grow a garden back home… more so for herbs but I wanted to start adding some color to it. Any advice…? On well good colorful flowers?”
Alright straight into work mode.
It wasn't a bad thing. Lately being at work was a moment for Moana to have for herself. Pulling a hair tie from her wrist Moana moved to put her hair in a bun at least it wouldn't be dripping on her shoulders while she waited to use her powers.
"You want to grow them? Well, tulips are always a good flower for colour but they don't really last that long. Peonies are good. Gerber daisies. Though I've never looked up if they can grow in the UK." Moana mused haphazardly gesturing around the shop.
"How much shade and light do you have where you plant?"

“Yep,” he said, popping the P. “Guy went at it like it had just called him a bad name and needed to establish himself as the alpha male.”
He placed his glasses back onto his face. After a pause he adjusted them once before settling. Cornelius blinked, eyes readjusting to a clear world once more, only to focus on the newly dried circuit board. Although he had missed exactly how she had done it, but he hadn’t expected for her to be so quick about it. He turned it over in his hand.
“Huh.” He looked back up at her, “Who do you get your towels from?”
Moana laughed because she knew the type. Grew up with the type. Alpha males were always an interesting bunch.
Ones she usually tried to avoid.
“Hmmm? Oh, I don't know. They were here when I started working here and probably be hereafter I leave.” Moana mused with a bit of a shrug.
“Can you tell if it works now or do you have to get back to wherever you were going?”
